I wanted to add a comment on tapping your existing wiring. My boat is a 2017 Stingray 198LS which is similar to Larson and may have the same color wires to other smaller boats. Under my helm is a removable cover with a bank of relays with labels. I also have a set of dashboard switches from the factory. You are going to need a selection of crimp end terminals, crimper, and a wire stripper. If you wire this up as specified, you will need either a battery on/off switch to cut main power or a separate on/off toggle switch. Otherwise, both the ATP control and the controller will stay lit all the time. I wound up running both orange wires off of the "trim tab" toggle switch on my dashboard (optional switch wasn't connected to anything from the factory). There was an open spade on the bottom rear of the rocker switch. I used a blade spitter and some heat shrink to connect both orange at this location. I chose to install an inline 20amp fuse on the orange to the controller fearing what might happen if the actuators short underwater. If you don't have this switch, you will want to have a battery cutoff switch or some other switch to prevent the controller from running all the time. Note that you could also use T-taps to splice into existing wiring, but the piggy back blade splitters are nice because they leave the wiring untouched and are easily reversible. Main power at the helm should be a large gauge red wire. For the black ground, I used a piggy back blade splitter on the back of the black side of the cigarette lighter on the dash as I didn't have a bus bar at the helm. If you see a bar with a bunch of bonded black wires, that would be preferable (attach with a crimped ring terminal or similar). I could have also used a t-tap to any of the larger black gauge wires under the helm. In order for the auto retract feature to work when you shut off the engine (before trailering), the purple wire coming off the ATP control must be connected to switched power. Look at the back your gauges to see what color power cable was used. The gauges usually are switched with the key ignition. On my boat the color of the power to the gauges was also purple, same as the ATP wire. I had an empty gauge spot and a pair of unused wires that I joined using a fully protected male/female spade terminal.

I bought a new 4.5 inch stroke actuator, but it only moves about an inch. Tried plugging it in on other tab, other tab works fine so not control unit.

I downloaded the install manual for the ATP. The instructions for the hydraullic version was to make sure control module is installed vertically and for the correct end facing the bow and parallel with keel. The instructions for the electric version said you can mount it in any orientation. One version has got to be incorrect. Please address this for those potential buyers. Thanks

Zash, it sounds like you might have an early version of the ATP installation instructions, so you will want to destroy them and use the following for your application: bit.ly/2Ncojdp (Installation manual), and bit.ly/37RKNs9 (Quickstart Guide)

How much time will it take to install tabs with control switch? Trying to price out how much it would cost to get them installed.

Can you use this system with a port, center, and starboard trim tab and actuators?

Why wouldn't 3M4000UV sealant be more appropriate when installing tabs? The screws are what's holding the tabs on, not the 3m5200. Wouldn't a boat owner wish 5200 had not been used when they have to replace a tab part later?

Dear Team Bennett, I would like to add this to my 08’ Searay 44DB, and would like to know if I need to add position sensors to the rams?
@BennettTrimTabs1

Sorry we never responded. Our notifications were not coming through properly. With hydraulic systems, AutoTrim Pro technically does not need sensors to function with the auto tab control or manual tab control features. However, in order for the tab indicators to work on hydraulic systems, sensors must be installed which we have a kit for (bennetttrimtabs.com/product/autotrim-pro-sensor-kit/). Electric systems do not require sensors.

The new lenco switch with integrated control panel, LED indicators and auto- retract, have an orange wire that needs connected at the ignition. And the wire needs to go cold when the key is turned off. I'm installing on a 2017 Robalo R227. You wouldn't happen to know which wire I should look for do toy. I had one person tell me to attach the orange to the purple wire at the switch. But, I don't have a purple wire. Thanks

Greetings, it sounds like contacting Robalo and Lenco may be your best course of action. However, feel free to give us a call at 954-427-1400 to discuss. One of the techs may be able to shed some light on how to solve, or at least point you in the right direction. Have a great week!

Does this work with a bennet hydraulic trim system?
@BennettTrimTabs1
@BennettTrimTabs1 4 года назад
Yes indeed! However, in order for the trim tab position indication LEDs to work you'll also need to ensure you already have sensors in your hydraulic actuators, or else you'll need to purchase a sensor kit (PN# ATPSENSTD). An easy way to determine whether or not you currently you sensors is if your current trim tab control has trim tab position LEDs. Hope that helps!

Always blindly drill holes thru the deck of a boat. Never quite being sure whats underneath. Maybe a fuel tank ?? For sure some important wires running to god knows what. Please don't duplicate what you just saw this man do. Could create a problem that trim tabs cant solve.

Good point we will add it to future videos. We do mention it in our installation instructions.

May I use this control panel with two hydrolics tabs with two pomps?
@BennettTrimTabs1
@BennettTrimTabs1 5 лет назад
We would really need to know more about the “hydraulic tabs & two pumps” before we can answer your questions concerning the installation of the ATP system on your vessel. Do you have any photos of your trim tab system that you can email to us at BMI_Info@Yamaha-Motor.com? If not, then we really need to determine the brand of the trim tabs, actuators & hydraulic power units we are dealing with before we get too far into your case. The best next step would be to call us at (954) 427-427 or email BMI_Info@Yamaha-Motor.com. Our techs could help you determine what is needed.
