The Bennett Brook Railway held an Enthusiasts Day in 1996. This video contains footage from the operations on the day. This footage was filmed by BBR member Simon Mead. Check out some of his videos here; / @simonsrailwayvideos
00:01 The video begins with our petrol mechanical loco 'Maylands' being prepared for the days running. The locomotive used to work at the Maylands brickworks clay pits. Also pictured is our tank engine 'Betty Thompson'. Betty was named after the wife of the locomotives restorer, Malcolm Thompson, who is pictured here with the hose in his hand. Ng15 no. 118 and Genco built 'Wyndham' are also pictured.
00:18 Fowler built diesel 'Rosalie' is seen drawing a rake of goods wagons out of our Mussel Pool depot workshop yard.
01:04 Oil fire tank engine 'Annie' is seen here departing Mussel Pool with some of our'small stock'.
01:56 Fowler 'Rosalie' approaches Whiteman Village Junction from Mussel Pool with a goods train.
02:44 After collecting another wagon, Rosalie returns to Village Junction from the north.
03:45 Betty Thompson approaches Village Junction from Mussel Pool with a short passenger train.
04:54 Betty Thompson departs Village Junction, heading north.
05:55 Elizabeth approaches Village Junction from Mussel Pool with a goods train.
06:38 Having completed a circuit of our 5km bushland loop, Betty Thompson approaches Village Junction again from loop south.
07:09 Betty and Annie cross each other at Village Junction.
07:38 As Betty departs Village Junction south to head towards Mussel Pool, Elizabeth arrives back from the bushland loop onto platform 3.
08:34 Various shunting and train movements at Village Junction.
09:28 Elizabeth departs Village Junction for the loop, heading south with a goods train.
10:56 Betty is turned on the 80 foot turntable at Village Junction, followed by some shunting.
12:56 Elizabeth returns from loop north with a passenger train.
13:35 After being turned on the turntable, we see some on board footage of Elizabeth taking a passenger train north around the bushland loop.
14:13 Betty Thompson approaches Kangaroo Flats station with a short goods train.
14:40 Having crossed Bettys train, Elizabeth departs Kangaroo Flats station.
15:23 Elizabet runs past the camera near One Duck Lagoon on the bushland loop.
16:14 Near the end of the days operation, we see Betty Thompson and Elizabeth approaching Mussel Pool station with their respective trains. Please note the canine train guard on Betty Thompsons train!
