Bennington Triangle / Glastenbury, VT - Documentary (Part 1 of 2)

Short documentary I made a few years ago when I was taking a documentary course in college. Its 20 minutes long split up into two parts on youtube. Its not really finished, I thought I was going to spend the time to re cut some of it but its been sitting on my hard drive for so long and I probably won't ever re cut the film. So I figured I would post in its current state. The editing needs to be paced better and I probably should have conducted some more interviews. When researching the Paula Welden case I found out she has two or three sisters and one who is supposedly still alive, I tried to track her down online to see if I could get an interview but couldn't really find anything. If anyone in fact knows hows to get in touch with current family members let me know and I would probably still be interested in going out to do the interview and posting it on here.

Anyone that claims that area isn't creepy has probably never been there. I'm up in Rutland, but I've been down that way- some of the hills down over near Brattleboro (as you're headed there from Woodstock area) are just as intimidating- the burial cairns don't help.

I've lived in VT on and off my whole life. I have moved away several times but something always pulls me back! I live in VT today. I need to start traveling to these places and rediscover a different part of VT, that really intrigue me. I have lived all over the US and Canada, but I have to say that Vermont, if you know the land and how to live in it, is the safest place to live!

lots o'them lights up here in VT. They used to scramble F-16's from the now closed Air Force base in Plattsburgh New York to check 'em out sometimes when the night discs would lower or as in one case , hover in the woods over groups of locals who would go there to meet them ---NOT joking...Myself, several witnesses over a three day period witnessed this event back in the 80's but were precluded from access to the site ( at that time) by gun wielding locals...Yes...lots of strange stuff up here. There are some...kids , etc. who are entrusted by Homo Sapiens Cognatus and maintain a secretive open contact. I also almost made it that far but blew it by trying to show others and introducing cameras into the prolonged experience.Discretion means survival for them.

Up here now for a long time. "The New England SHYMAN" ( named by Native Abenacke) is a real thing now known through DNA analysis ( hair samples not from VT. though ) as Homo Sapiens Cognatus: a literal human hybrid cousin of ours known commonly as "Sasquatch". Came face to face with one after monitoring its cave for 17 months. Been 5 years now since we first noticed his cave/log structure behind my deceased parent's mountain/hill top house. Five sightings within ten years within ten sq. miles of our guy by others. He's shy. gentle , retreating , civil , and MONSTROUS in appearance ; enough so that he/they must stay in perpetual hiding to avoid hysterical screaming shooting mobs of their tinier hairless little cousins. A "wildman" report DID come out of Williamstown back in the late 1800's. Two guys Shot him, he screamed , seemed still uninjured enough to chase them and put them in a traumatized state. So...Gulf Road, eh??? I'm a'goin'...You said it n"I'm a'goin' to find it. What should I expect there? Ya, Vermont skies are also heavily trafficked with unidentifiables...constant...it's amazing. Trust me, years of experience and scientific skepticism are used to filter out other explanations. Rural Vermont is indeed an experience of much mystery.

When I was like 9 I almost fell right into and old well. The wooden lid was old and really overgrown right next to a asphalted road around 20 ft from our backyard. I walked over it, it cracked and I fell into it but was lucky enough to grab a young tree and hauled my ass out of it. Now had that tree NOT been there I wouldn't be here today, perhaps some of these pepole suffered similar fates? they just didn't pay attention and fell into death traps like that.
4 года назад
Lee Len2 That’s very possible. We have a bunch of old mines on a mountain cluster around an old Ghost Town here in the northwest. While gem hunting up there I almost fell in one so did my dog. The ones they knew about, were sealed with wood around 100 years ago. Those of course have rotted away. Nobody knows how many there actually are. Most of them are covered with foliage of some sort. So you can’t see them and those weeds and such are in no way strong enough to hold up against the weight of anybody.

The Bennington student is the cautionary tale that has been told to females since time began; don't wander off into the woods by yourself. Countless females have wandered off by themselves and not come back to prove any adage regarding this. Many viewers are too young to understand how vast and rural this country was back in the day; unless they lived in a metro area a person could easily walk out of Anytown USA and into wooded or isolated area, whereas now you might have to plan and schedule and equip for a woodland visitation. In CA one can hop onto either Southbound freeway from Sac and not see a forest until you got into Guatamala. Head East into the mountains and chances can be high one wanders into forest land protected by marijuana growers. As for every other disappearance: people get lost all the time, and what saves the day is the fact that others IMMEDIATELY look for them, or they luckily don't face anything in the environment that finishes them.

A few things were misreported here. The veteran Jim Tedford who disappeared from the bus 3 years to the day after Paula Jean Wheldon was staying at the soldier’s home. He hadn’t gone to visit his wife. This was 1949 and he’d been drafted into WW2 in the early 40’s. He’d actually come home from the War at one point to find **his wife was missing** from the house they shared. Everything else was still there. His relatives had last seen her about a week earlier at the Amoco gas station and store near town. It’s interesting that he’s noted here as visiting his wife - that’s misreported as he’d only be visiting his wife if he’d disappeared to find her. He had family members to visit there but his wife, at least was still missing. That’s why he was actually in the Veteran’s home instead of at his own home. He’d moved into the soldier’s home after he returned from war. He didn’t want to stay in the house, alone. Furthermore, the fact he was seen at a bus station is only because he didn’t disappear until AFTER he visited relatives. He was able to meet with them in St Alban’s and spend time together. In fact, they’re the witnesses who saw him at the bus stop because they brought him to the station and watched him board. It’s supposed that he actually disembarked from the bus at a different stop although there’s no witness to that. It’s only assumed perhaps he did disembark at a different stop and witness accounts who placed him on the bus later were mistaken **along with the head count taken by the driver** as the bus left the stop.
