I pre-ordered, and after talking to BenQ rep, I was one of the first 30 in the US. I just got an email over the weekend saying that shipping is now delayed until April due to worldwide transportation issues. Can't wait!
I also got this projector and I've been having a few issues with it but I believe I fixed some of them, but maybe anyone else here has had issues like these before. But honestly when I get it working right it's truly incredible. First thing was the remote, it had major disconnection issues when I first got it. I reset the projector but it still didn't work. I then got a bit nervous when I read a thread on reddit that any units with this issue needed to be sent back for a firmware update on a chip or something. Thankfully, someone else fixed the issue by turning off hdmi control, which then for some reason turned it off on my receiver, which meant I couldn't use earc, so I turned it back on, and this entire day I've been messing with it, no issues. Hopefully this solved the problem, apparently this issue stems from the newest update installed out of the box but who knows. The next issue is with stuff connected via earc. I'm not sure why it is this way, but I get no sound from my xbox when it is set to raw plus, only when it is set to raw. I don't even really understand what that means, it seems like it means arc is raw and earc is raw plus, but that is still very weird to me. Regardless I am getting dolby atmos through earc now on all devices with that settings, so I can't complain really. The next issue is also an hdmi issue, all my devices cut in and out like there's a delay. Going into a movie on Apple TV and exiting it causing the screen to almost reset and show the input I'm on and the resolution in the corner before taking me to the menu, same when entering and exiting a game on xbox. Not really a problem but it is certainly an annoyance. The last issue is again, hdmi related, so many times now I have been experiencing an issue where I turn on the projector and my devices, it finds the signal, but won't display the picture. I then have to unplug and replug it in on either the projector end, or the device end. I do however believe this is an hdmi cable issue, if you have any recommendations for 50ft hdmi cables, let me know please. I have 2 ibirdie 50 ft cables from Amazon that I believe may be the issue. I find it hard to believe I have bad inputs. Overall I do love the projector, once I'm sat down in a movie, or in a game, atmos on through earc playing, the experience is second to none. Hopefully these are issues that can be fixed with updates, it is still very early in the product life cycle, and benq is a great brand so I have faith👍
Looks like a nice product for gaming for sure. Lens shift does create some potential issues for setup, but at that price point, it has a lot of features
4K and 240Hz in 1080P is just awesome in a projector for a relatively affordable price. But man that looks like a beast. Definitely not meant to travel with and made to stay fixed in one location.
Great video, I really enjoy your channel, I am also waiting to receive this projector and tested for gaming and the PS5 and Xbox SX. Thanks for the video.
No lense shift or electronic zoom and focus - but the projector is $2K so..... so some things had to be cut. I don't like to keystone so electronic lens shift is ideal for most people.
great review. I love how you talk and describe: very logical and informative. I would buy this for my home theater with complete darkness. Do you have any screen recommendation for this projector ?
Thanks for watching. The best screen will be whichever one suits your space and speaker configuration. I would not go with a high gain screen, even a 0.9 would be good because of the brightness of this projector.
Nice one, Tony. 🤩 That looks like a huge casing. Do you think it needs to be that big? Seems bigger than comparable projectors. Would love to upgrade my projector at some point. Can’t help but be tempted by the JVCs. ;-)
Just bought an xgimi horizon pro but can still return it in place of this. How do you feel the xgimi horizon pro stacks up to this? Is there a noticeable improvement in contrast and picture quality to make this clearly head and shoulders above the xgimi?
I've been looking at the xgimi as well. There is a video with comparison on RU-vid. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you the name. This projector has more shadow detail than the xgimi. I was going to go for the xgimi but changed my mind to the BenQ.
Super great video! I'm going to be building a dedicated theater space. All things being equal would you do a UST or a regular throw projector like this? Also does this projector support 3d?
Hi - yes it does support 3D although I couldn't test that out - and depends on what you wanted to do for your home theater - a UST is great for a casual space, but in a dedicated light controlled room a standard throw projector works better as you can have a center speaker in place where the UST would go.
Ive tested the Horizen pro - in fact a new video coming soon on that :) They are different. The BENQ has more calibration options, but the setup of the Horizen Pro is the easiest ive seen of any projector. Quality - BENQ is better.
Did you notice any image degradation when using digital keystone? That's the only thing that concerns me about this projector, otherwise I'd be totally sold.
No definitely no degradation - and because I have a thick bezel around my screen, and light bleed was absorbed. This would be a contender for me if i was in the market right now.
For someone wanting a home theater setup, with casual gaming, would you recommend this projector or go for a more dedicated home theater system? If so, which projector in this price range would you recommend? I'm leaning towards this one but I really only want it for movies.
This is certainly a viable option for movies - I can't recommend anything else at this pricepoint that is as good as this. It's great for gaming but I think it's very good for movies as well..
I'm planning to buy an x3000i for my home theater, but I keep second guessing based on the black levels that everyone mentions. Then I remember that I've never spent more than $400 on a TV and I honestly probably won't care all that much once I'm using it.
Yes just the positioning of the shelf as I have a very high ceiling over 10' / 3m I couldn't get it to sit right so I had to keystone for the sake of expediency of making the video and not making damage to my theater room :)
I havent tried the HT3550 but the 3000i has decent enough black levels in a light controlled room. I think the main focus is if youi want something with pro controls for calibration and movies, nice HDR, AND gaming - i don't think there is much that can beat it.
This projector gets the job done pretty well. ru-vid.comUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.
You can see it all in the video - the recording just missed the final output from the calibration which isn't much use to anyone. The projector has been boxed up and sent back to BENQ now.
@@BuildMontage so when you're watching movies or shows do you see the judder effect or is the framerate very smooth? When a projector has some kind of motion smoothing option it makes shows and movies look very smooth, some people don't like it but i do.
@@BuildMontage hopefully those are sent soon, are U Going to by chance also Review the new awol vision 4k ust projector? There are 2 models a 2,000 and 3500 lumen versions!! With great features
@@dshawnspjute6305 it's possible, I do have a pretty packed schedule of videos coming up and it all depends on whether companies are willing to send them to me.
