I was Stationed at Bentwaters in 1961-1964 as a sheet metal airman. Our commander was Robert Olds and Chappy James was one of the pilots. Both pilots became aces during the Viet Nam war. We would go TDY to Libya with our F-101 planes for training doing live fire.
I was an SP at Woodbridge 75-77, but pulled a few shifts on Bentwaters. Recognized the WSA and the RSU tower. Spent a lot of time in those. But no shots of Woodbridge! Probably harder to do now since the British Army is using it as a reserve barracks. What a bummer!
Me too 80-81 I was part of the 81st Security Police Squadron. "Rendlesham to Redemption" by Steven LaPlume. I wrote a book about my experience and sighting and the aftermath.
@@stevel6939 - My wife was stationed at Bentwaters. We had one car. I travelled that road through Her Majesty's Rendleshem Forest daily, for over three years. As a weather guy, we saw the lights straight east of the field..and the runway orientation was 09-27. NO WAY were they the lights of Orfordness Lighthouse...that was southeast at seven miles, and were flashing.
