"Ooh, it's a copy! Clip spring is a Conklin design! Facets are originally Wahl! Don't buy it!" Sheesh. I'm SURE that there's someone out there saying that... I like this one! Like you said, for Benu, it's understated. And my extreme is a Sheaffer's Balance Junior in black pearl, and my vintage Esterbrook pens.😁 The Schmidt nibs they use are generally quite nice. Although they are a bit much, still better than a lot out there. Yeah, especially with the Schmidt nib unit, why no Schmidt converter? Orange and black looks like the rippled hard rubber Waterman used, plus glitter. And not gobs, so it's going to appeal to more people. Really nice!

I love this pen and Benu as a brand

Hi Rob. Great looking pen. A few years ago, when Benu came on the scene, I was carried along with a number of folks' popular opinion who thought they were too flash, too blingy and not serious enough. However, that all changed when I visited my first pen show. I managed to see a number of Benu pens, lined up on a table, and was instantly struck by how gorgeous and beautiful these pens really are. I don't actually own one yet but I really like the Euphoria Bourbon. It's only a matter of time before I take the plunge. Oh, the pen rest is a bit silly. Doesn't do the job but the pen itself is lovely.

I only have one Benu, the Talisman Dragon's Blood. Like the pen a lot. The nib was a bit scratchy and I exchanged it for a different Jowo nib. It now works wonderfully. I bought it as it was a beautiful resin and at the time it was, for them, understated. This pen also fits in this category. I don't use a converter. I apply a generous amount of silicone grease and eyedropper the barrel. I am not a fan of orange but this is one that I would consider. Great review Rob.

Odd they didn't give you a converter. My Benus have all come with one. One of them is a gamma green skull and roses, which cost the same as the regular colorways since all they had to do was fill molds with a different color, I'm sure. But another is one of their hand painted limited editions, which as you say, they do tend to charge a premium on those... but I so get it. That required an actual person with really steady hands to sit there and actually do it. I'll pay the extra if I want autumn leaves on my pen bad enough I guess.

Thanks for the look at this pen. I absolutely love it, and if I didn't already have so many BENU pens (with another on the way), I'd buy one. Interesting that you got a pen rest but no converter, as my BENU pens have all come with a converter and no pen rest (I'm in the US). Special packaging for Cult Pens, perhaps? I think the pen rest might work well if you're writing with the pen unposted and just need to set it down for a moment. The narrow section might fit well in the ridges. BENU is in Armenia now, and by all counts they are lovely people. I'm happy to support them.

It's Yerevan, Armenia, that they moved to, not long after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It's not a lot more peaceful for Armenians right now, however, especially those living in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which has been invaded again by Azerbaijan, who don't recognise its independence, unlike Armenia 😞

However unless it's a losing proposition financially you are the number one podcast I have watched for many many years.
