22steve5150 Same here, I couldn't believe when I first held my M9A1, I was in the market for a full size 9mm and it came down to the Beretta or a Glock 19, and after holding the Beretta, that's one of the things that tipped the scale and won me over. Plus I've always wanted a da/sa pistol since I was a kid. But, I will eventually get the G19 too. But yeah the Beretta fits like a glove !!
For the record, the Glock-19 is technically a compact 9mm, the Glock-17 being the full-size version and the Glock-26 being the subcompact. I'm not a fan of Glocks. I find them to be woefully inaccurate compared to CZ and Berretta, as well as being far less reliable than the "perfection" Glock pontificates about. I've had several FTFs with the Glock-22 I'm forced to carry on-duty and a Glock-23 I used to own. Not one problem with my M92A1 or CZ-75 PCR.
I know he mentioned the G17 in the video, but I was wondering the same thing. Why would you put a compact size gun next to a really full size gun like the Beretta for comparison?. My best guess is the round count they both hold is similar can be the only reason he'd use a 19 instead of the 17 for this "Glock vs Beretta" review...
honestly, until i started shooting professionally with a club, i had no appreciation or understanding for you shooting that gong at that distance with a pistol consistently. fantastic shooter
I love the 92FS/M9 pistol; its Beretta lineage, timeless beauty with its open-slide design, 9mm caliber, tremendous accuracy, reliability, super smooth single/double action and its safety features, the way it field strips, and as a US Marine, the fact that it is a US military weapon. When it's all on the line, this is my hands down weapon-of-choice as my sidearm! God bless Beretta!
Sherpaful That's debatable. You're comparing a highly reliable firearm to a highly reliable firearm. With these two guns it only boils down to preference and which ones feels better in the hand of the shooter.
+Sherpaful ppl...chill up plz...one gun comes after the other...you see...at first (even not really...) it was the no slide big heavy steel beretta...and then...came the plastic glock..."that can pass through any airport...coz its...plastic"...rite ?...rite...so...thats the storey...so...who likes older school...gets the dammm beretta...who wants plastic...will get the damm "modern" plastic...and then yet...there will allways be...the tanfoglio force-match-elite...and the taurus oss...not to mention the beretta clone which is full steel...gorgeous finishes and cheapper than the original ?...(lol now I make scandal...)
I have a little experience with both. Handling the Beretta is like riding a magnificent well-trained horse. It even seems that it has the ability to teach me how to be a better shooter in the way a great horse can teach me how to ride better. The Beretta feels like an active, intelligent partner. After a day of shooting with it, I feel energized and focused. The Glock, on the other hand, is like dealing with a hot-tempered, poorly disciplined Napoleon. It is messy, vindictive, and out for itself. Yes, it is compact and powerful and can get the job done but it takes so much mental energy to work with it that it's not worth the benefit of its portability for me. After a day of shooting with the Glock, I'm sapped and grumpy. Yes, the Beretta is heavier and harder to conceal. But what it gives you in performance, personality, and feel can't compare to the Glock. If you have to choose one for frequent concealed carry, (especially if you are smaller) then the Glock does make more sense. Otherwise, leave that raging toddler alone and get the Beretta.
+Ray Isaac Nah. For me, working w a Glock is as fun as hanging out with a violent, poorly brought up ADHD toddler without his Ritalin. I'm sure it is a good match for some but I just don't have the patience for it.
The Glock 19 gen 3 is the 1st semi-auto pistol I purchased. The 19 delivers in every way. The 2nd pistol I bought was the Beretta 92 FS. The first time I shot the 92 FS I loved it. I’m very happy with both pistols and would recommend either of them strongly to anybody considering purchasing either of these handguns.
This was exactly my experience; I liked my Glock 19, which was my first semi-auto pistol that I owned, but I wasn't in love with the trigger and the overall ergonomics. They were fine, they worked, but I never felt like they truly sparked joy. Traded it for a Beretta 92A1, which very much sparks joy. It's funny how many other people in this comment section say it fits their hand perfectly, because I feel the same way. I'm more accurate with it than pretty much any other gun I own, and it's by far one of the nicest guns I have.
The Beretta 92fs is what I plan to get as my first semi automatic pistol. The Beretta 92fs is a beautiful handgun, the Glock is pretty ugly like most semi automatic handgun models I have seen. The looks of a gun matter to me.
Jack Saegar I just bought a Beretta 92FS and I fell in love with it. It's pretty, I love the hammer decocker on it, it's awesome how fast I can reload it, I fired 230 rounds threw it with out fail and it's much cheaper to shoot and easier to find ammo for then my 357. magnum revolver. I hated semi automatics and went with a revolver as my first handgun because of how ugly many of the models are until seeing the Beretta 92FS and others like the Browning HP and the 1911. How does the Glock make all other pistols obsolete?
WVgregWV They're no more or less rugged, that's all in your mind. Unless you were to put them into an over or fire or microwave, then yeah a poly gun will melt before an all steel or aluminum/steel one will. But how often do we have gunfights in massive microwaves? That's right, just the once.
WVgregWV Please let me know where I can get a 92FS for 500.00 bucks That's what I pay for G17s. Around here or on line the 92FS seems to be closer to 700.00. I am serious I would like to get a 92FS for $500.00 e-mail me. Thank you.
I've owned the 92F since 1988- mine was actually made in Italy! I have fired it, 1000's of times. It has never jammed! Factory loads from 100 to 147 grain, FMJ and HP all feed without issues. Would definitely trust my life with it. I recently bought a Glock 23 Gen 4 and can't wait to see if it can beat the Beretta's reliability!
camp168 I wouldnt trade my beretta for nothing . I think for me personally it's the best handgun made . I carried it and trusted my life with it for 4 years in the navy and still do today.
You make it look easy. Loved your videos for years, but just picked up a Glock 48 a month ago, who your son reviewed, I’m a first time gun owner. Your videos are very helpful and I always enjoy them. Thanks!
I absolutely love my Beretta 92A1. If I were to conceal carry, I think a Glock 19 makes a little more sense. It's just as reliable as well. Apart from that, Beretta all the way for me. Both are dependable firearms but like many have said, the look of the Beretta can't be argued with.
I shoot my 92A1 far more accurately and faster. And because of that, I carry it every day. I have an appendix carry holster and an OWB holster for open carry depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going. Both are made by Hidden Hybrid Holsters. They are surprisingly comfortable considering the size of the 92A1. I use a Magpul Tejas gun belt to support the extra weight of the Beretta and it works well. I wish a company like Alien Gear made a retention holster that would fit the 92A1 with a light and red dot. I put the suppressor and light on the rail and sleep with it on my strong hand side at night under the covers =]. It's the best pistol ever made if you ask me. I'll never sell it. The Wilson Combat upgrades turned it into a dream to shoot. I would have paid them double if I knew how good the improvements would be. It went from incredible out of the box to a unicorn.
Going to get my first hand gun this weekend. Cant get enough of your vids. SAFETY is key. That's what I get from all your vids. Respect the gun. Thx Hickok!
A note on suppressors(because that seems to be becoming a bigger thing these days): the Beretta 92 barrel can be direct-threaded for a suppressor, whereas the Glock(with an extended barrel to clear the frame and slide) has a tilting barrel and requires a Neilsen device to catch the suppressor weight while a round chambers. The factory sights on both pistols also sit too low on the slide to clear any suppressor body I've seen, and both would need to be switched to taller sights to use them over a can.
What a throwback video. This was the first video from Hickok I ever saw. RU-vid just recommended this to me and made me nostalgic. I was still in elementary school when this video came out and now I graduated college not too long ago with my first adult job. Thanks for the fond memories Hickok!
+Sherpaful Glock is an over-glorified, run-of-the-mill handgun. It does everything pretty good. Nothing bad about them, but nothing amazing about them. You're right. It *is* his loss. The loss of a Glock, which isn't much of a loss.
Ralin What is a "run-of-the-mill" handgun? Most guns are pretty common these days, and they are all just pretty good. Unless you are talking about high-end custom guns, one is not better than the other. Let me summarize how they work: Point gun at target, pull trigger to go bang, bullet exits muzzle and travels to target. Repeat steps. Glocks do this just as well as any other gun out there including your precious HK and Beretta
Ralin What doesn't it do amazingly well? Its as reliable as any gun out there and can be very accurate. The Glock 34 is one of the most popular guns for IDPA.
***** The problems with the early 92s was because the military failed to follow Beretta's ammo recommendations. This was the same as the horror stories with the m16 early in the Vietnam War. E. Stoner recommened powder for the m16 and the military in their ultimate wisdom decided to ignore the designer. This was fixed, just as Beretta corrected a problem that would not have been a problem if military brass did not think they know more than those who built the weapon. You will find very few handguns that will survive a regular diet of submachine gun loads.
***** My Glock 19 can't handle 115 grain ammo sometime, compared to the Beretta. Beretta takes all ammo all day long. Glock handling feels awkward after a decent pistol like a Beretta. I trust my Beretta way over the Glock. (Glock is a simpleton gun, meant for simple people, just like the Iphone is meant for simple people compared to android OS which is meant for competent people).
I have a Gen 5 Glock 17. Had a chance to shoot a Beretta 92fs for the first time yesterday. The difference was unbelievable. The trigger pull and recoil of the Beretta was so much smoother, it felt like I was shooting a .22
I carry my glock because its light! The Beretta stays by my bed with a 19 round mag and a light. I can shoot it more accurate and its safer loaded in my home with the decock and safety. 2 different guns for 2 different purpose. I love them the same (:
Fair enough. Glocks are going to be lighter any day. But I'd rather go with my 92Fs all the time, bed or ccw, becuaee I train with it more. Becuade at the end of the day the best gun is the gun you are most familiar with.
I carry my Beretta 92 in a Cross Breed inside the waist holster in the 5 o clock position. Being a big person, it conceals well on me, and I do practice drawing quickly and firing and it works well for me. I was also issued this weapon in the Army as a 19K , was forced to remain on the range for as long as it took to qualify expert, and had to field strip and reassemble it, and perform malfunction clearing drills without looking at it.
They're really beautiful. My Beretta O/U is a work of art. And it was made in the 1950s. All the checkering, fitting and engraving was done by hand and it's just amazing. Made before CNC was a thing :-)
+Ofordgabings well...if you can live up with the no slide style...tanfoglio are much more appealing...and other maybe...diamond shaped...like ppq...or other like usp...
I love the Beretta’s characteristics and fit of the gun in my hand having a larger grip. Never fired a Glock before but have friends that claim they are a great gun as well. Thanks for the comparison!
+Michael Lawson Amen. I carried a M-9 in the Air Force and fired it probably about as much as you and it never jammed on me and handled flawlessly. Never shot it in combat either but would bet my life on it. Great handgun and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great reliable 9mm.
thanks to your video regarding the taurus g2 i did my research and bought one...feels good for a cc and so far no misfires...i also have a stouger which is either the sister/brother of the beretta and i have to say it shoots like a dream . thank you for all your videos i have learned alot by them
When I first bought my Beretta I managed to get a few stovepipe jams because I was a new shooter and I was limpwristing the firearm. And I have seen Glocks malfunction a lot at work because of exceptionally poor maintenance. But these issues are very hard to create in these generally very reliable weapons.
thanks Hickok! you have been my go to guy for the past year on everything related to guns. I like how your guy safety is second nature when you are double checking the chamber of your pistols. Thanks for the videos! oh I will check your channel, but for fun I was wondering if you have a video on Saturday night special pistols, I would be curious to see your take
+Ramon Hernandes Well, for me, any pistol I think is "special" enough to carry on Saturday night would qualify for that name. :-) I think I know what you mean, though; you mean cheap little guns.
Thank you Hickock! You have inspired me to buy so many guns! Lol For 9mms I have a Glock 43 inspired by you and I have a German p38, but I don't own a 9mm yet for training and high cap mags, my friend has a Glock 17 which I shoot really tight groups with, but I already own a full size Glock 22, so you have inspired me to buy a Glock 19 next because it fits so nice in my hand and Glocks have always been perfect for me as I own 3 of them (22,30SF, 43) , just wanted to say thank you for what you do because you are the go to guy on the internet everywhere for guns, you have an honest opinion and you have a great sense of humor, keep it up! I also just purchased a 50AE desert eagle recently and was amazed by your accuracy at 230 yards with it! Thanks!
I have the Taurus version 92 w stainless slide. Love it, love breakin it down, love cleaning it, love firing it. Feels so silky smooth, like sipping a small batch craft bourbon from the top shelf in a crystal rocks glass with one big ice cube. Glocks feel like slugging Kentucky Gentleman from pass the bottle on a hot day in July. Believe me I've done both, but I prefer the 92.
The Beretta just looks better. I've been considering what to buy lately, and the Beretta has been on my mind. After watching this video, my mind is somewhat changing. The Glock 19 seems it might serve better for conceal carry.
@@moonshinetales14i recommend you shoot both before you buy. I hate the beretta and always have been. It looks sexy but i just hate shooting and manipulating it. Glock 19 is much more practical and simple, and I wouldn’t pick anything else. Just my opinion but the glock 19 is easier to use and much lighter
Thank you so much! Your input and info is really helpful in determining which one I would buy for conceal and carry. I love the Beretta 92FS, but for CC purposes, I will probably go Glock 19
I just recently brought a Glock 20 Gen 4 and loved it! I've carried and fired the Beretta 92FS for 17 years, when I was a Military Police officer in the US Army. I don't like the Beretta's uneven weight distribution on the gun and the open barrel. The weight of the gun tends to be a little heavier in the front causing people to generally shoot low. The Beretta's I carried had a tendency to rust especially in the open barrel portion, no matter how many times you clean it, oil it, and wipe it dry.
I have shot both, but prefer the Beretta simply because it feels more comfortable in my hand. Plus I seem to have a little more accuracy with it. Probably because it does feel more comfortable.
I always come back to this video every now and then and I enjoy watching it being that I own these 2 great pistols and in my opinion they are the 2 very best combat/duty 9mm handguns. 🙂💪👍 I also like the Sig Sauer P226 alot but these guns here are my absolute favorites.
I own a 92FS as my main "combat" pistol if SHTF and I also have a Glock 26 for back up. You can't go wrong either way… Glock or Beretta - it's all preference.
Thanks for the review. I owned a Beretta 92fs years ago.. The only malfunction I ever had was shooting 9mm Rusian ammo I found cheap as all ammo shortage at the time. I test fired Glock 17, 22 and 23 for our department. Glock 22 won. Beretta was not even considered. I retired and bought a Beretta px4storm .40 I love it. Beretta for life.
I actually hate striker fire guns so that'll tell you what I think about glocks. other than that, we should also note what an incredible sexy pistol the beretta is and the glock isn't.
Yes, well the fact that YOU don't like striker guns and think the Beretta is "sexier", doesn't really add much other than one man's preference. ie' it's not objective.
I have had my hands on both versions. I own the italian made piece and a friend owns the USA made piece. The frame of the italian piece is crisp in all of it's machine work, it feels like it's CNC machined from a block of billet (which it is) and the USA made version feels more like a forging with much less crispness. Does it matter? Nope... Just my $0.02 from comparing both in depth. I'm not sure how the USA lower is made, I would assume it's exactly the same so I'm not sure why there is a difference in the finish work.

Brett DiMichelle Studios They are manufactured exactly the same with the same equipment EXCEPT the Italian model doesn't have the slide stop built into the de-cocker/safety required by US military (Italian model is a 92F, US is a 92FS).
I've used the M9 in the Navy for the last 3 years. Huge amounts of recoil for a 9mm. I like the Glocks more, used to hate them until I shot a Gen 5 Glock 17, amazing gun and incredibly accurate.
As someone who owns a 92FS, G17 and G19 I think it's pretty even across the board in terms of raw specs. Each gun has its own pros and cons that can only be overcome with practice. Likewise for EDC its all the same once you get used to it. With enough determination and maybe some gym time to speed up the process you can easily IWB carry all three.
What I find interesting is he hasn't had a lot of experience with the Baretta and a ton of experience with the Glock. He shoots the Baretta just as well as a gun that he has probably fired thousands of times. That's a testament to the Baretta, I believe. Watch a later video where he complained about the trigger pull of the Baretta while hitting every shot dead on as though it wasn't even an issue. The Baretta reminds me of more classic firearms. I'm drawn to it.
Just moved to Central PA from MD last year and here I'm running into Beretta 92s pretty cheap. Been looking for a cz75 and haven't seen one yet. I've seen several 92s though at decent (by current high standards) prices
Sir, I love your videos but on this issue I clearly stand on the other side of the fence. I used the Beretta for years in service, and as law enforcement. Given the choice I will take my Beretta all day. As for carry or concealed carry this gun was not designed to be a concealed carry gun it was meant to be a military/law enforcement gun so no it does not play well for that roll. Speaking about this gun for concealed carry is like criticizing a Ferrari for poor off road performance. As to the Glock I have only shot one once in my life and it malfunctioned on the first shot. That said I think we are both biased, but I do thank you for all of the great videos please keep doing what you're doing.
+Todd Coleman I'm not buying your Glock malfunctioned on the first shot. I've been shooting Glocks for years, perhaps a hundred thousand rounds, and have only had two malfunctions.
+Todd Coleman Plus you did spell "Role" wrong. That must mean the GLOCK is the winner. Glock, Glock, Glock, Glock, GOOOOOO Glock.... Just joking around.
I have pretty large hands, so 92's, glock 20/21's, desert eagles etc.. Fit me just fine. I've shot 92's since I was 12. Always felt the most natural to me
I love the double action for my M9. My thumps had no problem training first shot only at the range today. I took things slow for about 200 rounds only training that cusp of the trigger firing within the double action.
Hickok, I've carried the 92FS (stainless) inside my IWB for years. Glad I did it too when I almost carried a .25ACP one day, the passed on my Model 6o Chief one and and went withy 92. I went to a gun shop a little later where someone thought it would be a good idea to tey and rob it. As I was pulling my 92, I remember thinking, "Thank God I have to be 16 rounds!"
God I wish we could shoot pistols in the u,k, I get so frustrated to see shooting so easy in the states, I was lucky to visit San Antonio Texas early this year and shot about 50 rounds through a glock 17 , it was a fantastic experiance probally never get another chance again,
I have an 92FS and Beretta makes the 15,17,20 and even a 30 round mag for it...yes a 30 rd. mag. for a pistol. It comes in handy at the range, I don't have to reload as often. Lengthens the handle quite a bit, lol. I find the Beretta 92FS very reliable, extremely accurate and an overall nice looking gun too. The Beretta also has a round in the chamber indicator on top near the hammer to let you know a round is chambered unlike the Glock.
You know, believe it or not, I just had a nightmare. I woke up and was just in shock. First thing I did was turn on a Hickok45 video. This is the one. That’s because they are super entertaining, relaxing, and friendly. You get warm feelings from them. So thank you Hickok45, you calmed me down tonight. I will never forget that.
I've always wanted a Beretta 92FS, Concealment isn't an issue for me Reliability is key for my application. I appreciate your experience and wisdom, Sir.
Nice shootin' and nice comparison. I can tell you are definitely a better shot with the glock, but I think that mainly boils down to the fact that you have shot it a lot more than the Beretta, and not necessarily that the Glock is a better gun. Both are excellent fire arms.
That safety action from double pull to single pull is actually a FEATURE of the Beretta. The longer barrel and weight provide for much better action and accuracy on short and longer targets. Needless to say I LOVE the Beretta 92FS!
@@wehrewulfand with a longer barrel its more accurate.. Every shooter knows longer barrels are accurate because of that extra length it can get the better accuracy with just pointing at the target you're more likely to hit something
I owned a beretta 92fs for the last 26 years, as a shooting enthusiast I found it very reliable, fits nicely on the hand, the grip is perfect. The original trigger is very heavy on the first pull on DA, even the SA is heavier compared to a Sig 226. I had not shot a Glock until recently, I purchased a Glock 226, I find the trigger mushy.
Wow. Sorry I didn't see this 5 years ago. I'm a retired Marine and the first pistol I bought was the Beretta 92FS. Once I saw it in the show case I hardly gave it a second thought. I've seen lots of videos comparing the Beretta to every manner of pistol, and yours was one of the most fair and unbiased. That's why I just subscribed. I'm not getting a Glock, but I do appreciate integrity.
