I've had mine for about 13 years, and it is a very comfortable gun to carry, When people say awe that wont stop a criminal or thief,,, We'll so far nobody has volunteered to let me practice on them and find out what happens, So Until then, great Vid and great information on the Tomcat 30-32

I have one as well, and my thinking is, I'd rather have a mouse gun than nothing at all. I can pop it in my front pocket and no-one can tell. Anything bigger and I'd have to work my wardrobe around it, which means I'd be lazy and not carry. Cops have carried .32 ACPs for a long time. I get the idea of 'stopping power', and sure, a more powerful round is better, but the reality is, unless an assailant has rabies, a few to the abdomen with a .32 acp means they are no longer interested in you, and you can get away.

I’ve got a Tomcat and love it! Wide slide..no cracks yet! I bought some after market ivory grips and screwed up the installation...Gun was then inoperable! I called Beretta and they said to send it to them. They reassembled the lil thing correctly and even installed my ivory grips! Test fired it and shipped it back to me. No charge! They even paid the return shipping. Great customer service from Beretta!

Love my Tomcat & Beretta !! Purchased mine in 2000. In 2011 a crack developed similar to what you mention in your video at the 8:40 mark. I contacted Beretta. They asked me to send the gun to them for repair. Beretta contacted me and said the crack was a manufacturing flaw and they sent me a brand new Tomcat after 11 Years !! No questions asked !!! Additionally, be sure your choice of ammo for the Tomcat has a Muzzle Energy of 130 ft lbs or less as per Beretta, or the gun may develop premature wear. Thanks scotch00.

Just wanted to come back and say "thank you". I've been looking for a Tom Cat for months. Finally found a used one at a gun show for only $300. It looked pretty beat up, but I was thinking about going for it anyway. But then I looked inside and saw that stress point on the frame EXACTLY where you pointed it out. You saved me $300. Thanks!

I bought the Tomcat about 15 years ago. It was stolen about 12 years ago. The Police came to my door a couple weeks ago to tell me they had found my gun. Can't wait to get it back. They have to test it for fingerprints and fire it to make sure it hasn't been in any crimes. The gun was found in a closet during a drug arrest.

The company has been around since the 1500s.. The pop up barrel makes it easy to load and the double action makes it very safe to carry. The newer models have a great round front sight. You NEVER have to pull back the slide but it's ready to fire!

This is a neat little gun, very compact and the tip up barrel is useful. However beware of the frame cracking problem - use the lower powered ammo and try to prevent the slide from going home on an empty chamber (i count my shots to 5 then reload). Also, NEVER dry fire - more then any other pistol I know (i have 12 of em) the firing pin WILL break (even while using a snap cap). The firing pin is not hard to change, but, i can tell you if you like to dry fire you'll be changing it faster then you'd like.

@Will and Lana for me slim guns are extremely hard to draw due to my bigger size and my bigger hands. Being bigger means bigger pockets. My Kel-tec p32 is very nice because it's light. However without the 10 round magazine inserted I end up fiddling around trying to draw it and this could cost me my life. I've switched to my Beretta 21A in .25 acp, not because I am thrilled with the caliber. It's just because it's wide enough that I can get my hand around it and get it on target much quicker. Thankfully I only carry these guns as back ups to my .38 revolver.

I have this pistol in the original style before they beefed it up but the barrel is very short and handle short and without the aftermarket finger extension it’s very unwieldy and without laser sights you’re talking about 3-5 yards(9-15ft) . Love the gun and would buy the newer version at a used price but don’t have a lot of confidence without laser sights in it. But beretta did the best they could to make a small pocket pistol in 32 so I understand !

The Tomcat is a great pocket pistol. I had one for years, but presented it to a nephew upon his graduation from Police Academy. He had a choice of any of my smaller handguns, including .380ACP and .40S&W, but chose the 3032 as his preference. It was an older model with the thinner slide, and blue/black finish. Have been thinking about replacing it with a new one. Most informative video, ...thanks.

Always kinda wanted one of these for a secondary pocket gun. Probably an Inox one. My now ex wife had a 21A in 22 LR. 2020-odd years ago i remember rolling a soda can consistently at about 20 yards. So the accuracy is there. The 32 is not the first choice for primary defense, but it certainly has its uses.

It's a beautiful little gun that gives me no problems. I have one made in 2014, with the beefed up steel slide. I like the weight. I have 3 1911's, but who wants to tote a howitzer around? 7 rounds of hollow point ammo from this little piece will definitely ruin anyone's day. About half the weight of my Makarov, and 1/3 the weight of my 1911's.

Right, I've got a .357 revolver, 6 in. barrel. Can't really carry that cannon around. Plus my right arm is paralyzed after accident in '78, so the tip-up barrel is ideal. Have a Tomcat 22LR that is easy to shoot, but the .32 is a big enough round w/proper load at close range. Finding one new is not easy tho'. Anyone know what year the slides were beefed up?

Just purchased a couple of these, a Blued one and an Inox. Took them to the range and totally thrilled with them. Only thing is they do work the trigger finger after about 50 rounds. They were both pretty darn accurate. Any lack of accuracy I believe was me and not the gun. The DOM on both is 2007. No cracks on the sides groves and lands were in great shape. Both were obviously used, the blued one was nice and clean throughout, the Inox was filthy but cleaned up really good. I am happy with both.

Nice handgun. VERY reliable with the right ammunition. Never had any jams or misfeeds using a rounded bullet shape. Beware of any semi-wadcutter rounds. Winchester was (and may still be) making a 50 round boxes that has changed from a rounded bullet shape. Same weight. Same box. Even Winchester's website did not recognize that production run. Don't use a round that is less than round for any purpose. Jams. Jams. Jams. (Hollow points have fed without issue though, including Winchester.) Slide is unwieldy to rack. Very stiff and the frame is so small that it's hard to get both hands on the weapon. Safety is well positioned and easy to flick. Feels very secure after 10+ years. Barrel is short which makes effective range limited (for me) with a moving target at about 7 yards. Trigger pull is very short and abrupt when cocked. Very long pull as DA. Out of the box, the trigger is the only thing that one might look to adjust. Sights are great profile for pocket pistol, but are otherwise mediocre. Glad I purchased the Tomcat.

Had an 03 Colt pocket in .32 a.c.p loved it. Carried it for year's and put a few deer + black bear, out if their misery with it and did the job nicely with 71 gr f.m.j.'s! I never had to use it in a self defense situation but, as accurate as it was, it would have did the job. I am sure! As would a .380 a.c.p.!!

I have the stainless with the fat slide.......love it. I have noticed that most of us buy a gun for self protection/ c.carry that is too big and too heavy and we end up leaving it at home or in the car. sure that 40 cal will stop a bad guy.....if you have it on you. The tomcat fits easy in any pocket and I am sure that if I put 6-7 rounds in the attacker's guts, he WILL back off. I use the Hornady critical defense and they are awesome, the possum I shot off my trash can looked as if he had been sliced open with a chainsaw. any instructor will tell you....most defense shootings happen within a few feet.

I inherited my blued Tomcat from a deceased relative who had purchased it brand new in 2000. It didn't even make it 30 rounds into a 50 round box of Winchester white box ammo before the frame cracked and the barrel spring went flying. It was set aside at that point and never fired again. When I received it in 2018, I thought that I'd have no problems with Beretta warranting it, since I always thought they stood behind their firearms. WRONG. The best deal they offered to me, since it was not under warranty, was $420 for a new version and they would also keep my broken pistol. Beretta is permanently off my list of good manufacturers to buy from. For LIFE.

The design of the Beretta Tomcat in .32 ACP has a distinct advantage over, for example, the Walther PPK/S in .32 ACP in that the Walther's slide tension is so strong, most females cannot rack the slide; with the Beretta, there's no need to... Also, the .32 ACP is not necessarily under-powered for personal defense. It's all about hitting 'center mass' at close range anyway.

@cultofmalgus1310
@cultofmalgus1310 8 лет назад
+UnchartedGamer nope but then again I can say nope to most handgun calibers. Truth be told it has less to do with size and everything to do with placement. A dead center .32 to the head or heart is better than a .45 grazing or even missing the vitals. As long as you practice you should be fine. Take into account carrying a firearm is insurance against an assailant not a guarantee. We can never be fully prepared but we are a hell of a lot more prepared with a small pocket gun on us than leaving home without the .45. Even so I like the intermediate cartridges if I can be honest that is for me the .32, .380, 9x18, and 9x19. Keep your .32 loaded with some decent fmj's and you're gonna be fine.

@cultofmalgus1310
@cultofmalgus1310 8 лет назад
UnchartedGamer no I am saying that sometimes that wont work out for you. If he is firing back and gets to cover or charges you before you realize the threat you might not have time for the perfect double tap. Still 8 rounds to the chest can stop or slow him down if you stay center of mass. How often do you practice your crumpled weaver stance?

I loved my Bobcat, but let it go because the penetration even with a hyper-velocity round was less than impressive because of the small barrel. Now the Tomcat is looking pretty interesting! Would be interested to see a ballistics gel test with this gun. Too bad the Tomcat is hard to find now.

Sootch00, nice review of a fun little gun. I really enjoy your reviews of these guns, because few other channels will give them the time of day. I, for one, think they have their place and should not be dismissed out of hand.

pull the hammer back first before pulling the slide back will reduce the force required to pull it back quite a bit.

Why bother to pull slide back, not necessary
@davidmarkwald450
@davidmarkwald450 3 года назад
@@zivendine You should probably at least practice racking the slide because you might not have a single round handy, or the precious time required to get the weapon back in battery quickly, without racking the next round. Just saying...

I have a sincere and serious question. Why would a caliber that was adequate for self defense in the past no longer be adequate for self defense today?
@matthewrobinson4323
@matthewrobinson4323 8 лет назад
That coincides with my understanding as well.

@anguinusvir6698
@anguinusvir6698 8 лет назад
+Joseph Finney - it's true, sort of. People are much larger on average than they were 50 years ago. It takes a larger caliber to stop larger people. Ignatius Piazza and Hatcher both did similar studies of examination of people that had been shot and studies on pig carcasses and both determined you need a 40 or higher to guarantee a 1 round stop. Any caliber will kill eventually but to take them out of the fight instantly.

Agreed, my wife really wants this handgun for concealed carry, but doesn't want a .32. She loves the .380, but with arthritis in her hands most slides are hard for her to work. This would be the PERFECT pistol for her if it was in .380.

For .380 with easy to rack slide and about same size as Tomcat check out Sig P238. Best ie reliable quality made micro carry

H.E. Miller My wife has a Sig P238 Equinox, with arthritis in her hands it's still hard to rack the slide. The whole idea behind this pistol is that you don't HAVE to rack the slide.

I know this is over 4 yrs. old. My Wife carries a Tomcat because of Carpal Tunnel, can't rack a small slide. Let's not forget that the .32acp rd. killed the Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand and His Wife Sofie which started WWI. Also for decades it was the most prolific Police caliber across Western Europe. And German Officers that chose the the smaller pistols over the Luger and P-38's.
