I'm really glad to see more content coming out. A few months ago I started binge watching every episode. Then.... i ran out of videos to watch. So I watched them again. Lol. I'm really happy to see more videos coming out. You guys keep up the good work! 👍
I have this exact rifle in 6.5 CM. Its a great shooter. Smooth action and well built. The only problem I have had is the internal box magazine. Its very stiff and difficult to load at times. Has gotten a bit better over time but still can be fussy to load ammo. other wise its excellent and well worth the money IMO. I'm so impressed with it that I just bought a B-14 Wilderness Ridge in .308.
Thanks to you guys and your great reviews I was considering the Tikka t3x but I honestly think I like this b14 better thanks for the great reviews and the great content that you guys produce
I have this exact rifle. It is lights out. My favorite rifle by far. I take it everywhere through everything. It's a true workhorse. And don't let the 6.5 Creedmoor fool you. For deer and antelope, it's a stone cold killer with Hornady eld-x ammo.
So I bought this gun today from Sportsman’s Warehouse here in Phoenix and watched several of your videos on the review of the guns that you chosen. It was a tie for me between the Weatherby and the Bergara B14 Hunter. Except for this occasion I was looking at the Wetherby vanguard meat eaters edition rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor versus the Bergara after handling both rifles I could immediately tell the Bergara is the better rifle when it comes to aesthetics feel and quality. Keep in mind the Weatherby was no slouch but the Bergara just felt better the safety was nicer and felt smoother compared to the Weatherby which was a stamped steel switch which wasn’t quite as nice and the soft coating on the shoulder stock and hand guard on the Bergara Was much nicer and very grippy. Lol Even My girlfriend thought the Bergara was the nicer rifle and she’s never hunted. Keep in mind I haven’t shot this new rifle yet but I am super excited to get a scope on it and take it to the range
Try the Remington 700 American Hunter. It's every bit as good as the Bergara. After bedding the recoil lug it shoots 0.5 MOA out to 300 Yards. Great rifle.
@@dgreenapple With the Bergara you don't have to do anything but shoot it...that's the point. Bergara is what Remington should have been and that's coming from a Remington guy. The Bergara is better in every respect.
I just acquired this rifle in 270 winchester. Put a vortex 4x12x44 and went to the range. As getting 1/2 moa with the blue box federal I am very pleased with this rifle. Will be looking forward to getting another one.
I've had a Bergara B14 chambered in 300 Win Mag on layaway for several months . I paid it off and brought her home two days ago for $550 US . I feel like a bandit getting her at that price . I haven't mounted a scope or fired her yet , but the bolt is slicker than ice , and the trigger break is amazingly crisp .
I just bought the Bergara B-14 in 30-06 spg based on the good reviews it got from this channel. I also considered the Weatherby Vanguard but the “cheap” safety on it put me off and so I chose the Bergara. It’s amazing that such a small thing can swing your decision.
Hey guys, love your channel and this video in particular. Lord knows I can't get enough of my B-14 Hunter, quite honestly I'm shocked yall didn't just come out and call it the winner of your best rifle under $750 challenge since it came down to it and the weatherby and in your original review of the weatherby its final shot of each load would leave the grouping. Just an observation. Anyway, question, what brand are those plastic rifle rest stands you used in this video?!
I just bought this rifle for 579.99 at runnings , chambered in 6.5cm Couldn’t pass it up , I’m 100% going to build it into a high end precision /hunting lr rifle
There is a weird phenomenon going on with bergaras. The vast majority of people using them sounds very satisfied, often reporting custom rifle like accuracy. But on several forums sometimes a few "influent" guys pop up and literally start throwing s..t to bergara, with a lot of hanger and committment, getting even to say that these rifles are so bad that they would never own or work on one or even use parts for builds. To me it seems that these guys are actively trying to bash Bergara, maybe on the payroll of someone who could benefit from this. Emotional involvement in defending something we like is understandable, emotional involvement and committment in bashing a brand is more difficult to undestand if there is not some interest on the table. It wouldn't be the first time anyway
I own two less expensive CVA Cascades made for CVA by Bergara in 450 Bushmaster. They both shoot my reloads absolutely phenomenally accurate. I bought one for myself shot so great I then bought one for my son for public land deer hunting. Absolutely doggone shame the CVA Cascade doesn't come in LH as I would buy a 3rd one for my youngest son who is left handed. But I would rate fit and finish of the made for CVA by Bergara CVA Cascade an excellent all around value for the money rifle.
I have this exact rifle in .30-06. Great rifle, very strong safety, easy to use, for hunting the hinged floorplate is a feature. The trigger is light, bolt action is smooth. It is a quality, basic rifle. I added a foam cheekweld as the stock is too low. For the price this is a nice step up in quality from the cheap 300-400 plastic rifles. Considerations...the bolt is a 90 degree bolt, so it is not as low angle as say, the Tikka. Not an issue for me. On the flip side, the build quality of this feels much nicer than the equivalent t3x.
Seems like Bergara might have tried to compensate slightly with the actual shape/pitch of the bolt handle…seems like a fairly acute angle (when closed), compared to other bolt handles.
Hello Jason I was wondering if you put a muzzle break on it? If so how was the difference? I have a 30-06 Winchester model 70 non threaded and man the 180grain is bugging the shoulder in my old age
the bergaras are available with a wood stock too if you want something that looks nicer. imo a GOOD synthetic is actually a better stock though, and this pattern is probably a reasonably effective camo too.
Getting one in .308 the second I can find one. I've been hunting with my remington 700 in 300 win mag for 15 years now. Time for a new rifle that's a little more handy. I hunt Kansas in blinds and stands a lot.
I just wish this was threaded. I have this exact same gun and it is pretty stout shooting. With a muzzle break it would probably be much better. It is hard for me to shoot over 20 rounds through this gun. I really wish I would have bought the ridge model for the thicker barrel that is threaded. It is a great shooter though and the nicest rifle I have. The trigger is surprising coming from shooting shotguns 95 percent of the time.
Bergara B14 Hunter. 9 shots, no break in. 1st box of ammunition and 1st - 2 shot group. 130 grain 270 Win Federal Fusion. .375-inch, 3-shot group at 100 yards. Legit ! Stay away from CVA Cascade that SUPPOSEDLY has the same barrel. No way in H*ll !! These rifles are not night and day...... they are earth and moon apart. GO BERGARA !
I'm looking at the b14 ridge after reading Jim's page about best rifles around 850 ish. My only hesitation is finding the differences between the Bergara b14 and the CVA cascade. I could save 200$ and get a lighter gun still with a bergara barrel, quality trigger, and fiber reinforced stock.... can someone tell me the main differences?
I noticed you had x-high rings your scope was to high for me especially with no check riser. I have the same rifle and it shoot 1/2 in groups with Hornady 140 gr ELD and 3/4 in with Hornady 143 gr eldx Fantastic rifle
The 9.3x62 is not known to have a stout recoil.. and break? Sure, for range work (bench, prone). But standing up shooting (ie, hunting) and firing max 2 shots its not needed.
I have narrowed my choice down to a Ruger American as my budget rifle and this Bergara as my higher end rifle. Do you think the extra 150/200 is worth it for this gun?
I bought this rifle used for ~$400 in 6.5 creedmoor and I can tell you I love it. Worth it. I love the texture grippy feeling and the trigger is wonderful. The American is also a great choice. I would handle both and pull the trigger. Feel the material etc.
@@scotteger6271 I mounted a Leupold Remington 700 scope base on my Bergara B14 yesterday . It fit perfectly. I test fitted the mount with the enclosed tool from Leupold using hand pressure . I will disassemble the scope mount . clean everything with acetone , then reassemble using Loctite .
@@victorwaddell6530 that is what I said to the OP...Rem 700 bases/mounts work. In my post I said I do not know what, if any, other Rem 700 parts/accessories work with the Bergara. I have heard triggers but can't confirm. They have a nice trigger from factory so not sure why anyone would want to replace it anyway.
heard they are a great rifle. This under $1000 rifle shoot out is going to be awesome. My money is still on Tikka but the Bergara must be a close contender.
My friend has a tikka t3 and I have a b14 hunter and they are neck and neck in quality and accuracy. The bolt on my b14 is a touch smoother but thats not saying much. Both are 308's and both shooting 3/4 moa with factory ammo.
When I was choosing my hunting rifle it was down between one of these and a tikka t3x ss hunter. I ended up get the tikka t3x and boy will I tell you. It's a tack driver and that's with factory ammunition not my hand loads. My hand loads are like a lazer
@GastonGross I agree that there isn't a loser between them...that being said I think it's going to come down to handling both and seeing which one feels the best to the shooter. I also wouldn't overlook the CVA Cascade...considering it also has a Bergara barrel.
I bought a CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel used from Buds Guns Online. Whoever scoped the rifle discarded the factory rings, put a 1/2” base on it and medium height rings. Which put the scope a inch off of the barrel. They gave me the factory rings so installed those. It had a Vortex scope on it that I couldn’t get sighted in so I sent the scope back to the factory and they sent me a new one. They said the scope was tightened done too much. Max. 18 lbs. This rifle was like new. Whoever jacked up the rifle caused the owner to trade it off. Anyway I noticed the same thing that you did.
In the calibers offered, you left out .22-250 of which I have one ordered. Also, I didn't see .338 Win Mag offered in the B14 Hunter on the Bergara site, maybe a new offering? Anyway, looking forward to further reviews on your Bergara just subscribed.
@@clintgray756 does the Bushmaster have a floor plate or removable magazine? I like the cartridge but it seems like every rifle company wants to make this huge mag stick out the bottom when they chamber the 450.
@@scotteger6271 The Bargara 450 bushmaster Ridge does have a hinge Floorplan. Very accurate and a great trigger. Mine is 2.8 pounds. Action is very smooth. I love it. Looking forward to using it this coming Fall in Michigan.
@@clintgray756 thanks for the info. I like the 450 but wanted a rifle without a huge mag hanging down…sounds like the Bergara would be what I’m looking for.
This is what the Remington 700 should have been for the past decade but Remington shit the bed then went bankrupt (again) so we won't see any more 700s anytime soon. Would like to get one of these but can't find any in stock anywhere locally.
Comparing the tikka to the Bergara wilderness hunter. The Bergara is better in every way but weight and maybe drop mag instead of box magazine Both have sub moa guarantee Bergara now has a fluted bolts and is smoother than tikka Better stock Extra round in the box magazine Metal trigger guard. Wilderness is cerakoted and tikka is stainless. I prefer cerakote.
My 308 likes the old 168 grain a-max sf load which they don't make anymore, their eld match shoots poorly, go figure! Federal 150bt's shoot well enough for deer hunting but certainly not a moa gun for me.
@@sandybarnett7502 Took the 243 back to the range yesterday. Now after approximately 65 rounds the groups are shrinking. Norma, Federal, and Winchester all three have gotten better. Down to about an inch with the Federal and 1 1/2 with the Norma and Winchester. Talked to the guy at the shop I bought it from and got the Match Federal. He offered to send it back but wanted me to try the Federal first. Expensive test but it did get close. It’s a coyote rifle so I guess I will keep it. All are 100 grain by the way.
I have the same rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. Mine would crater and pierce primers with factory ammo and moderate handloads. To much clearance in the firing pin hole. I sent the bolt to Gre-Tan rifles , had the firing pin hole bushed and new firing pin installed , 143.00 dollars later problem solved .I am not the only one who has had this problem , seems to happen mostly with the 6.5 creeds. I have heard Bergara reduced the the firing pin hole diameter to solve this problem in post 2018 rifles. I like everything else about the rifle, just be careful if you buy a used one. The firing pin issue could be why they got rid of it.
I know you have heard this already but try lowering your scope for a better cheek weld and better accuracy, i tried 4 different ones before i found the right height for my B-14 ridge .
Might be able to contact Bergara directly with your serial number. I've done that before with Glock and they've always responded with the production date
Sounds like you want the Bergara B14 Wilderness Ridge…has basically everything you want except maybe the weight…7-1/2 - 8 lbs no scope. If you don’t absolutely have to have the threaded barrel there’s the Wilderness Hunter that has everything else and is 7 - 7-1/2 lbs.
I have the Ridge SP. -Better look -Better bolt handle -Love the shorter barrel (18") -Threaded for a suppressor or muzzle brake (both regular and SP models) -Can still fit it in a standard soft size case with a Sandman-L attached Bergara did a comparison video of the two: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-puiAaG8CKIQ.html
The only drawback with the Ridge is weight…so come down to your hunting style/location and how much you walk. Some would prefer the lighter weight of the Hunter model and others will prefer the Ridge…both excellent choices.
If the texture and look is the only thing taking you away from this rifle just get a different color or something mine is wood and drives tacks at 150 yards
Very nice. Would make a great truck gun with the 22" barrel. Wish the contour of the barrel was slightly thicker. Would love to have one in of these in .243.
@@christopherdearborn4390 was going to be my recommendation as well. It is definitely a heavier barrel but doesn't add that much weight overall. Still comes in under 8lbs
That’s a tough call, as the HS stocks are very nice on those particular Howa rifles. That said, see if you can find both, handle them, work the touch points (bolt, safety, trigger, mag/floor plate release, etc). You might find that one is just a little more you than the other.
Damnit! I paid over $1200 for my Bergara 22-250 and 3 boxes of ammo. Anyone want to come kick me in the ass. Someone PLEASE tell me where to look online before I get screwed again.
