I put that same rifle in a MDT chassis stock and mag locks nice and tight. I don't know anything about the Boyd's stock but the MDT stock is what locks the mag in. I can imagine how frustrating that must be.

If you were to compare the B-14r to the cz457 as far as accuracy goes is the b14 more accurate with the same ammo or more consistent? I just hate to see all the malfunctions with the B14 that would drive me nuts and for the price this shouldn’t be a thing

I remember a video with your factory stock cz457 pro varmint shooting sk rifle match. That gun as i recall was a .2 to .3 shooter. I don't remember your Bergara shooting better than that. Joe, Is the Bergara really more accurate than the 457 Pro varmint ?

I think it's the cheap-ass plastic magazines. I don't seem to have that issue to this extent with my cz 457 but I'm very disappointed that they all seem to make these magazines out of plastic. The stock magazines are steel but try and find one that's not plastic in a 10 round version. It's inexcusable to have an otherwise excellent rifle fitted with such cheap magazines. It tarnishes the whole shooting experience.

Your magazine issue is the stock issue I believe. First rifle I have seen with this problem. Mine is in a factory stock and it runs like a sewing machine and mag doesn’t budge.

Its the chassis, not the rifle. My B-14R in the stock chassis has never had feed or ejection issues.

That's weird. I have one of these but it's mounted in a MDT LSS Xl chassis and it's got over 1k in rounds so far. I have never had an issue with it. It's got to be that stock and mag causing the problem.

Definitely the stock not the mags but good on ya for finding a solution that works. I've got 8 mags & never had an issue with feeding until I put it in an mpa comp chassis adjusted it once never had another problem. Great gun though.

Kind of a bummer about your magazine but all your groups were great. At least in my opinion. I know it's frustrating when filming and things don't go right. get some delrin or fiber washers at the hardware store and put under the trigger guard and space it out. Wyatts gives you washers when you buy his mag conversion kit. the bergara stock works fine with it and Boyds stocks are Shite and good chassis rigs have an adjustable release to make the mag work properly. as the saying goes "buy once and cry once".

Hi Joe! I'm shooting Anschutz and i never had one single issue. Also no need for aftermarket trigger,s stocks etc. If i had that Bergara i could not even sell that crap to someone else. I would put that barrel in the ground and use as a bean stake, and even for that it sucks.

Great video and I was laughing with you not at you when your gun was malfunctioning. I've had that happen before too and I was wanting to take the gun and wrap it around a tree I was so mad. Have you ever tried to shoot CCI stingers out of one of those good shooting gun of yours because I have tried 5 different 22 guns and they will not group them worth a crap.

Joe, Kenny over at Desert Precision Gunworks and Eagle Eye Shooting here on RU-vid has designed a mag that I think WILL work in your Bergara. I believe it will hold 13 rounds too. Not sure when they might be available as he just put up a vid on the prototypel. Might be worth a look? Thanks for the video!

Hey Joe, I've got a B-14R in an MDT ESS chassis. I turned it over this afternoon to see if the mag catch is integral to the barreled action or the chassis. On the MDT, it's integral the chassis. I've seen some info in MDT docs talking about the need to make sure your mag locks in properly, and adjusting if it doesn't. You might want to see if there is any adjustment available on the Boyd's. One thing I do have to say is that the Bergara sure does lay down some nice groups. The rifle is definitely better than I am!

I've had both a B14R and a variety of CZ rimfires (BRNO 2E, 452s and a 455). My experience is that the CZs are usually far more reliable out of the box. My bergara has been more consistently accurate than any CZ I own. With enough work it can be made as reliable as a factory CZ (almost there lol). So for a bench target rifle, I reach for the B14R. For a field gun, CZ. My B14R is in a KRG W3, so that allows me to adjust the mag well fit, which has helped mitigate some issues. The factory stocked rifles may be a little better out of the box. The one exception to CZ reliability in my collection is an early 452 American 22wmr. That thing jams more than the B14R. Nice gun otherwise.

@@deanrickvalsky7586 The B14Rs are known to have a wide range of issues. They are excellent rifles once tuned, but unlike CZ you have to come into it knowing tuning is likely required. In the case of mine, it had feed issues - fault of the stock and has been corrected by adjusting the forend placement. It also had ejection issues - mostly fixed by staking the ejector. I also need to get a stronger tensioner spring for the non-ejection port side. This is to prevent the next round in the magazine acting as an ejector. I also removed a significant amount of material from the striker/rear of bolt interface to reduce striker travel. From the factory the striker drops ~1/16" before impacting the sear. This will damage triggers and results in a higher than necessary minimum trigger pull. I also made a new bolt shroud because the factory one is a sloppy POS. I'm sure a good number of them have no issues, but to say that it is exclusively the fault of the stock is wrong. To be clear, I have had one Boyd's stock and I strongly dislike it.

@@ExF1Guy well mine doesn’t have any of those issues. Sounds like you got a lemon. His feeding issues were indeed the stock. We were talking about feeding specifically. Not all the things you mentioned. Those are new introductions to the conversation. If I had to fix all of that I would send back or sell it. I have watched a lot of review on the Bergara and seen none of that. The bolt shroud has been mostly a preference not a need. I don’t thinks is also safe to say you need to go into knowing you will have to tune it either or that it’s well known as I dug far and wide. Read and watched about all there is on the rifle and didn’t run across those issues. I hate to hear you have so many issue with yours. That would bum me out as that would be very frustrating. They would be sending me a new rifle.

Funny how many people have told him it's that shit stock and his magazine alignment. I have had a Bergara in a magpul stock. After adjusting the mag, I've never had one issue. It helps to be smarter than what you're working with. It's a poor craftsman that blames his improperly adjusted tools.
