Thanks for the video update! I’m having the exact same problem with aptasia in a 125 gallon tank. As far as Maintenance goes, automate, everything you possibly can, and have the ability to check your phone or a cloud application. It gives you a lot of peace of mind while you’re doing other things. Also, for some of the stuff you have to do like clean the glass, change filter, socks or whatever is in your schedule, I try to do it either later at night when things are quiet or early in the morning before the day starts that way during the day, you can just focus on taking care of business. I still stand behind the automation of things, all my dosing and perimeters are available including an auto feeder - I use a hydros controller if that’s any help there’s a lotta great stuff out there for that as well as the Apex. Good luck and keep us posted!
Here in Brazil, we usually use the dancing shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni) to combat and control aiptasias. It's excellent, devours them all quickly and also keeps the reef clean of debris
best wishes on taking the bar. You're going to do amazing on it. Aptasia-X didn't work at all for me and it only spread it when I dealt with it. What worked for me were peppermint shrimp
I built a schedule/routine around family, college, exercise, church, and fish tanks. I'm one of those that has a to do checklist for each day. It really made things easier.

@@QueenofReef 28 hours after placement and these fools are already munching. I also have a water box, but a infina 215. So they got a lot of ground to cover with them tiny legs.
@@QueenofReef Me too haha. I am not sure what your study plan is but I have mainly been doing MBE questions for now and really getting the rules stuck in my head and then thereafter focusing on the annoying state distinctions. (I'm doing Va., so not UBE unfortunately)
@@mrschnigglepoo Darn, i'm doing UBE using Themis. Not sure how I feel about it yet. We could do silent study or something though to keep each other motivated? 😃 Message me on Instagram! @queenofreef
Been waiting for your next video. I can relate to your trials, especially with aptasia. It’s a battle for me too. I’m trying to keep my reef tank care and maintenance simple. A few minutes each day and about 1 hr on Sat for water changes seems to be working. I have a 180.5 waterbox that’s 2yrs old. Good luck with bar exam. Update us on the aptasia when you can. Keep us laughing too
Congratulations on your Nudi’s!! Can’t wait to see their progress and Good luck on your exam. I’d say you have a full plate right now….now go set up your Apex and Trident. 😜
Made a schedule to do a water change and clean my pumps (I just take a toothbrush to them at the sink) one week and replace media and whatever I plan to do in the tank the next, ditched my skimmer and my filter socks. And my tank is doing really good. I found a good balance
Study hard and crush the Bar. I wen't through a nasty Aptasia phase in my tank. I bought 5 medium Berghia. The shop said it can take up to two months to see a difference. While waiting on the Berghia to do their thing I got a Copperband. I had the copperband in quarantine battling ick. After two months in qt the copperband had beaten ick. I wanted to wait a few more weeks to move it to the display tank. One day it just died. It was eating and swiming around like everything was good and then it just died. I tried a majano wand. It worked pretty good. Then I got a laser off ebay and snap, crackle, pop! I killed most of the visible aptasia with the wand and the laser. The Berghia took care of all of the hidden aptasia.
I have an insane outbreak of aiptasia. It’s everywhere! There are 74.8 billion of them in my tank. And I already have bergia…. They dont seem to be doing a whole lot. I saw one just the other night so I know they are still in there but to no avail.
@@QueenofReef mine have been in there for at least 8 months. Than from Tidal gardens said recently that he thinks some type of pods will eat bergia eggs, I am starting to think that may be true.
I feel your pain about maintenance. My 90gal display tank has been neglected big time Caus Im so busy with work. I say, just make sure params are good and just add your water as needed, even cleaning the glass has been an extra chore for me. Lol but great vid as always! You keep it real! 💯🫶🏽
Go get to Franks Tanks which is near you and get some of his good stuff. He has a patent on it and it seems to work. I have a filefish and he does not touch the aptasia. I have also tried peppermint shrimp and Berghia's but neither worked. I think the Nudi's might of worked but I think one of my wrasses ate them.
I tried those. Had let aptasia get to the point of no longer having manual removal as a option. Put 5-6 in took about six weeks before I noticed any change then within a few weeks no more aptasia!
You need a copperband girl, unfortunately i live in Australia or i would give you one of mine, i have three one in each of my systems, i have also QTed a dozen or so of these fish for fellow reefers here in Australia, there are several tricks, #1 if doing tank transfer method or just medicated QT use a black tub or else it will swim at glass and injure beak, any injuries to beak = death also be careful picking one from lfs make sure it is active and interested in its surroundings looking for food, even better if eating at lfs but not likely, #2 when tying to get it to eat use fresh or frozen whole mussels , crack and thaw one put a couple of cuts in it to mae it easy to get a chunk, once you get it eating mussels use and old mussel shell and add two blocs of mysis to it and a bit of RO water and freeze, when frozen add to tank, that will wean them onto mysis, a coupe of successful mysis mussel shell episodes and you will be hand feeding mysis in no time. One copperband in your system = aptasia gone 3-4 days....
Peppermint shrimp work the best. After 3 weeks, 6 PS eliminated a 100g tank inundated with aiptasia. I tried berghia, but that was a total waste of a lot of money.
I like Franks F aptaisa better. But both are very tricky to use. Polyps need to bee completely covered! For it not to spread. But the stuff drips like crazy. After aplied it needs to harden but it does work the best i feel that relying on creatures that may or may not feel like eating especially when they are being feed daily with other food is to much of a gamble i prefer hands on. Some creatures are great and work hard though.
Aiptasia eating file fish clear it for me within two weeks.I have 160g tank and i had lots of aiptasia.First month he doesnt touch anything bud than all clear.
@@elton092982 I got it from my LFS AquaStudios here in DFW, not sure where to find one online though. It looks really good next to a bleeding apple hope you get one too!!
Hi Stephanie I'd take down your vid or edit it or something, because you have shown your address in the video. I'm not sure if you know. Just letting you know just in case you're not aware of it.
Do not do not do not use Aptasia X they'll just keep coming back x2.. F Aptasia along with Nudibranch works. I was skeptical about F Aptasia for years but after using it I wouldn't use anything else..
Sweetie I'm the opposite my tank is my serenty and stress reliever no matter what .But some people deal with things in life differently. But yea it's my go to for my quality time.
