Nearly halfway through; all is not well on Berkeley Square! What a wonderful series. Showing the reality of servant life unsoftened like on Downton Abbey. Thank you so much for posting this extraordinary series.

I liked the contrast in the park between the three young governesses on one bench and their elder peers on the other, with a red head in each group.

I'm loving this series!! There aren't many series like this to be enjoyed but at least there are some. The characters and the story are very interesting, they really managed to make it look like that period, it seems natural to them.

I LOVE THE DRESSES, THEY LOOK SO ELEGANT AND YET VERY FRAGILE, I ENJOY BEING SWALLOWED INTO THIS ERA, WITH ALL THEIR ELEGANCE, PATIENCE, AND MANNERS, I TRULY WISH THE HULLIGANISM OF OUR ERA, COULD ADOPT A FEW OF THOSE TIMES CHARACTARISTICS, THANK U FOR GIVING ME THE PLEASURE OF ENJOYING LOOKING BACK TO THOSE YEARS..

What a wonderful series. Thank you! One slight history blip though. The relief of Mafeking took place in 1900 during the "Second Boer War"... Lord Hugh would have remembered it clearly as everyone did of his class... I wonder if the Aunt meant the Zulu Wars of the late 1870's? According to the program notes the time frame here is 1902. All in all beautifully done.

Victoria would do well to remember that guilty people should never aggravate anyone who has access to their secrets. If I were her, I would not be accusing my staff of ridiculous things like "consorting" I would have them on holiday every week so when the time came when they had to lie to my husband about the things they have seen and heard, they would not disappoint.

At 17, I used to read Barbara Cartland novels, set in times like these. Times were hard for poor and even rich. I like period dramas. I used to wish I was born in the 1800's. Medical records show how horrific it was.

You're not supposed to leave young babies to cry, it's bad for their developments. Once they are older it's OK to do controlled crying but not at first.

I never have let babies cry...not my nieces and nephews,or my own three kids or my five grandchildren or four great grandchildren....

They have a sound problem in these BBC movies. They are far too loud! The microphones ought not be. Down so low ad to pick up every crackle of foot fall be it person or horse.

I just realized that Victoria has, in a way, come down in the world (likely because of her mother's scandal) by marrying Arnold, a draper's son. She has an aristocratic relative, but couldn't marry one. And now she's doing the same thing.

Sexual attraction is a powerful lure. It makes people do crazy things. It's best to avoid that kind of crazy and drive yourself insane instead.

The character of Mistress St. John is horrible...makes you feel so sorry for her husband. If only she would get caught in her adultery. And the nanny Simmons is an odious character...a child abuser. It will be so satisfying if she finally gets ejected from that house before the series ends.

HELP ! I am trying to figure out the various characters. Who (the actress) plays the obnoxious Nanny with the glasses ? She is an older woman, quite tall, usually shown in the Kitchen and has dark hair. Even knowing her name in the series would help and then I could search for her. I have seen her in several other BBC Dramas. This is driving me bonkers!
