We are an English couple who met in Thailand, got engaged in Czech Republic and have continued to travel the world together ever since!

The bread with the currywurst is mostly used to clean your pellet a bit in between the saucey bites, and to soak up the rest of the sauce when the sausage is done ;) But each on their own as long as its tasty =)

Actually, Germans are not as obsessed with sausage as tourists hahaha We don't usually make them at home. It's traditional street food, or served on fairs or Christmas markets, but not really a staple in home-cooked meals ;)

So, you may know this by now, but the reason the döner kebab/kebap is so popular in Berlin, is because following WWII, a lot of Turkish immigrants cane to Berlin to help rebuild after many buildings were completely destroyed from the Allied air raids. They brought their cuisine, and döner kebabs really took off in Berlin, and have since evolved from the more traditional Turkish style, to a very distinct German style, such as the Gemüse Kebab, which whilst the name (gemüse = vegetables) may suggest it's veggie, but it's a delicious combination of chicken cooked on a spit (like a shawarma, not the classic Elephants leg style meat kebab we are used to seeing in UK kebab shops) with delicious sauteed Mediterranean veggies, feta, pickles, salad and sauces. I totally put out for them.

the various sausage, currywurst and bakery options in Germany is awesome and delicious. They are also very strict with ingredients and how they are made so it tastes so yummy and cheap. Their other quick food options from other cultures are similar as well as they have had many immigrants in their major cities a well and lots of foreign travelers, so food is good and mostly fairly authentic flavors from the various cultures.

My Dad came home from Oz with a lot of his clothes on…and a stuffed baby alligator in his pocket (died of natural causes apparently) since their cases were way overweight thanks to my Mum’s souvenir shopping 🐊🤣😍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

For those of you wondering why did the guy have a sausage stand on his stomach at 6:14 and was selling the sausages like that instead of having legs on his stand, he has that stand strapped to himself so that the police won't ask him for a permit to be there. As long as his stand has no legs, he could sell there in that plaza without having an expensive permit that would take away his small profits.

3:33 you usually would eat the rest of the sauce with the bread I think. I wouldn't put my Currywurst in bread but (oddly enough) other types of sausages that are not cut go into bread

My recommendation for your next visit to Berlin is: Blood sausage (Blutwurst) with Sauerkraut. Some butchers offers that. ;) It looks a little bit weird but it tastes amazing. :D

I LOVE blutwurst but it has been disappearing from delis in Canada because folks are too freaked out by it! I've had to switch to 'headcheese' which is even more disturbing- but tasty!

Typically you would eat a bite of bread Roll and take a bite of Curry- Saussage. A lot of people take frech fries with Curry-saussage. You can take it with Mayonnaise and even with Ketchup. Both together is also called "schranke"

1:26 Yes he is a legend in Germany we call him "Kloppo". He calls himself "The normal one" Nächstes Mal wenn ihr auf dem Alexanderplatz seid, geht auf dem Fernsehturm dort. Von dort oben hat einen einen herrlichen Blick über die ganze Stadt. Next time you are on Alexanderplatz, go there on the TV tower. From up there has a magnificent view over the whole city.

AHHH Berlin! First such a cool town! Food was killer, but I've never seen so many Prostitutes anywhere I've ever been! But the clubs were very cool and like i the food was awesome!

The favourite sausage in south-west Germany (BW) ist "rote Wurst". This sausage ist determed for boiling. But they grill this sausage, despite of the fact, that there ist pink salz in it and it is not healthy to grill it.

@@TravelBeans 4:40 min For your Bretzel you can find better places than Backwerk. The self-service bakeries like Backwerk, Back Factory and others are cheaper, but their products taste like roofing felt. The dough they use is often low quality/imported from Asia (and their baked goods are mass-produced). Better search a traditional baker and buy your Bretzel, Brötchen or cake there. I promise, it will be better!

Flattering as your love of German sausages may be (and quite rightfully so too since we've learned to produced sausages that contain no sawdust and no ground up bricks and hardly any pig's 'snouts and ears) one should think that by reducing German cuisine to bangers in a bun you're actually missing the realy good stuff. How would you feel about English cooking reduced to Fish & Chips, Shepherd's Pie, Toad in a Hole, Bubble and Squeak and the rest of the pub grub array. Get yourself some decent food next time you visit. Some thing that is served on a plate and comes with dumplings and a nice gravy. Rouladen, perhaps? Cheers

Hilarious comment that you are fluent in German after you called a wurst worst instead of vurst. I spent 5 years of my life with the British army out in Germany and i still get wurst and frikadellen from Tescos and Aldi, have both in my freezer as I write this. I must get some real German mustard.

I spent two years in Germany while in the Army in the mid 70s. It seems to me that there was always a special mustard that went with each sausage. Most of the time I broke the rule. If there was mustard in front of me I used it!

yes you have the sweet mustard that is a south german thing you eat it with weisswurst and the normal hot mustard for everything.

Hey Guys, this is the second video that I have watched of yours and I am loving it. I am glad that I had found your channel. BTW, I am a sausage obsessed American lol lol. I absolutely love brats, curry, and anything sausage lol. I think that I stop at every brat stand that is available. The many times that I visit Germany I never see a guy wearing his stand lol lol. That's pretty cool though. :)

I think Cologne is a bit better than berlin, though as long as you're in the right places in berlin, you'll definitely enjoy yourself (some parts of Berlin... Are not very welcoming)

They didn't try Blutwurst, and you can get that at a few places in Berlin. They went to the capital, and pushed a "German Sausage Agenda" from...there? Seriously? So, I hold them to it. Not just Currywurst. :-)

The heart-attack death rate must be really high in Germany due to all that saturated fat in those sausages and greasy food. smh. England also eats a lot of sausages in foods like the English Breakfasts. smh again.

In fact, Germany's heart-attack death rate is pretty much the same as the EU average of 13 %. Stroke death rate is even one of the lowest (6.5%, EU average 9 %), because all the sausage fat greases the brain and keeps it flexible.

Don't try to clap back when you got nothing. I'm sorry, but what you ate in Germany does equate to fish and chips and a cheap sandwich and calling that a "food tour" is just insulting to the german cuisine.
