you ran wayyyy over youre head. you are not in aub 220 shape. it just how the marathon goes. spend time with your family , and step away from running for a while. then come back
I was aiming under 3:30, at 35k i was predicted at 3:28:20. It crashed me so hard, i ended up at 3:36. I have three kids. Giving everything in Training. But i did not have it in the end. But im proud. I will do my 3:29:xx - and you will do yours 2:19:xx - maybe next year! Go!
I started back my running journey Dec 2022 : my first marathon 3:40 in LA 2nd ran 3:05 Santa Rosa next sub 2:59 cmi Dec 3rd ! Just qualified for Boston it’s been a quite ride so far along the way inspire many runners and coach a few etc - mate: good luck and have fun doing it . One peace of advice besides the long runs and tempos running make sure you don’t forget track
Great effort! So consistently close to sub 2.20 and most consistent runner on you tube.. period.. Just unlucky you didn’t have the pack of runners around you for the last 5k.. not ideal to be isolated but you will achieve your sub 2.20 goal, that’s a definite and good fighting spirit you have as well👍
Congrats Nick. Concentrate on your awesome achievement of achieving 2.22. Only a select elite few ever reach this level. Please stay in the marathon zone. "Simply the Best"
Well Done! I just began following this channel after watching you inspire others in London to finish Sub 3. I’m going to try breaking 3 in Amsterdam next year. My current PR is 3:09:28. That got me got Boston in ‘22. And I loved your energy in those videos. But this video is incredible! You did so well! Met Kipchoge! And didn’t get your 2:20 but you didn’t fall apart. Shows there’s always something to celebrate! Thanks for the inspiration! I’ll be watching.
Well done mate, absolutely love the channel. Motivated me to restart running, lost 17lb and running my first half marathon in 3 years next month! Love the grind, love the results, love the positivity
Nick either way you’re a supreme athlete and the way you train and have your superstitions even, is very commendable and inspirational. What’s more, you seem a bloody good human being and you deserve every success in the world. I love watching your videos and I wish you nothing but the best. I hope you enjoyed that stein also!!! ❤🎉
No regrets! You did amazing Nick. Berlin 2023 was my very first marathon ever, and I can only imagine what a feeling it would be to reach your level. Onwards to sub 2:20!
Amazing Nick. Love the channel and what you bring to the community. Cheered you on at KM 23 and was rooting for you to hit that sub 2:20. You have 100% got this in your wheelhouse. Looking forward to your return for the 50th anniversary. Know you gonna smash it then for sure 🏃♂️👏.
Question. I work in construction so I work like 14 hours a day and ma and my girlfriend have a 1 year old. So I got a treadmill to get me threw the winter months. How does a treadmill translate to outside running and should I even use it or just get me some winter gear and run outside when I can
@@donovangibson2603 yes in your case I’d definitely make use of the treadmill. It’s not quite the same as outdoor running but it’s a great training tool. Then try and get outdoors when you can
Wow, this really shows what the marathon is all about and that you never know untill it's over 😮! But whatever happened, that was an epic day and a great performance 👍🏻!
Nick - your mentality is amazing. No excuses and pushed to 100% - The amazing thing about this prep is that you've given 100% to everything in your life; Family, Running and Business. This has just given me the motivation to go smash my goals, not only on the track but in my personal life too. So if you want to take away a victory - you have a victory in me. Thank you.
You're such an inspiration Nick. Showing your high and your low. I am preparing La Rochelle Marathon (in France) in 2 months, your video is giving me a lot of motivation to smash my PB
There's one sentence that pops out for me: NO REGRETS ... you gave it all and that's the goal. But what better then the 50th edition to better your PB .... looking forward already ;)
Cheers Nick I’m crying again. There are so many key takeaways from this in terms of advce for us runners - thank you! (I’m now taking my pillow to Valencia!) We are all rooting for you, it will come - for now… it’s family time. All the best bro 👊🏻
You gave it all Nick and didn't go down without a good struggle. Some day you'll get your sub 2:20 Saw you right before the start on the live stream :)
19:25 that mixed feeling... congrats mate, amazing run and amazing effort in the end! keep it rolling you will make it if you want it so hard! best to you Nick! inspiring!
I'll be doing my first ever marathon next year and am slowly building up the distance right now. Your videos give lots of inspiration, lots of knowledge and the reality of marthon training and racing. Thank you, although it kind of scares me, I can't wait to start the actual marathon training.
I’ve only just stumbled across your channel but really been enjoying it. Especially as I left the uk to study at university in South Africa before returning here. Lovely to hear those South African accents and see all the signing and camaraderie 👍👍
Man you're such a positive person it's contagious. Started running thanks to your inspiring content!! Keep up the good work, im sure you'll get sub 2 20' next year. Greetings from Brazil !!!
Nick you smashed it. you might not have had the time on Sunday but you will come back stronger and better next time. it ended up being a very hot day and that doesnt help. keep smiling buddy
Amazing effort, Nick! Kept a close eye on your splits throughout the whole race and really wished you a sub 2:20 race. It didn’t happen at Berlin but it will come soon enough! Keep at it, keep spirits high as you always do and let’s continue the grind for a sub 2:20 finish! Wishing you all the best!
Wow, thanks for taking the time to put that together.your video popped up in my feed and i watched your journey. Great to see the prep an elite athlete puts in is just the same as us mere mortals. Found myself crying when you started going downhill, WTF?? Really enjoyed your journey and loved summary and positive thoughts post race for your athletes. You did your best and that's what you produced on the day. Congrats mate!!
Love your vlogs and simply being real. You gave it your bester and yeah... You can't predict your performance until it's done. No regrets having pace yourself well until 30km. Hate the money time. But you did us proud. Really feel for you but the exciting thing is... We get to follow your journey as you attempt it again. ♥️💪
There are so incredibly many things I like about this race report! Your positivity after such a long sought after milestone, which was so close this time, yet slipper away. Amazing. So positive and strong, truly inspirational! Then you, as a RU-vid champion, cheering on other runners. Cannot put into words how cool that is. Very well done, you are an example on how to enjoy running, set challenging goals and how to work hard for it and keep on pursuing. Massive kudos to you! 💪💪💪
Gutted for you, but you gave it your absolute all and no one can ask for any more than that! Your vlogs are a joy to watch - your enthusiasm is infectious!
I loved watching your epic journey, and still such an amazing time. You are an inspiration to runners like me and just what I need at the moment. You got that 2:19:59 in you, hard work and training will pay off eventually. Hope to see you at parkrun one day. Boomshakalaka 🤘🏻
Amazing effort and outcome Nick - you should still be so proud of the work that you put in. Just goes to show that there's no way around the fact that the marathon has to be respected!
Thanks for always sharing your journey Nick , keep pushing , your videos always make my day , thanks very much ,I love your positive vibes , keep making people smile ❤
THAT was emotional to watch Nick!! Huge CONGRATS on an amazing run! So great to see it putting the fire in your belly!! Watching Charlotte giving it everything right behind you just brought tears to my eyes!! 🏅🏃♂🍾🥂
I was there to accompany my friend. He completed it at 2:36. I have a plan to run a marathon myself. Currently I run 15km at 52 minutes. I hope I would make it. I am 42 years young.
Well done Nick! I love the post race analysis and your admission that maybe you were just not in sub 2.20 shape. I can relate to the "it was all going to plan, until it wasn't"... no doubt you will be back, putting the work in ... I didn't realise you had kids, they will be super proud of their daddy, watching this on youtube some day 😊
Dude, inspirational. And all of those people helping you, cheering you on and filming. You have won at life! And you will get your goal. Thank you for being such an inspiration, you are helping others too with your passion!
