Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi made headlines on Saturday by taking a mobile phone call when arriving at the NATO summit, humiliating German Chancellor Angela Merkel was waiting to greet him on the red carpet.
When he suddenly walked to the river i really thought that he was going to pee into it. Seriously I wouldn't have been surprised to see that behaviour from him...
In an interview on Italian TV, a few years after this had happened, he stated that he was speaking on the phone with Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, to nominate Anders Fogh Rasmussen as Secretary General of NATO. He was the last one whose vote was needed to elect him.
Actually, he was calling Merkel to inform her that he would be delayed and to go ahead with the meeting. Unfortunately, she had her cell phone turned off.
@@ClannCholmain Not personally no. But does it hurt my feelings that she exists at all? Hell yeah! The stupid, ignorant WEF goon that she is. Using her authority to preside over a nation with whom she feels no responsibility at all for is hardly admirable is it?
(2nd part) I´m from Spain. Before the Euro, our international net (debtor) position was around 30% of GDP. Today is around 90%. It means that someone else did lend us the money to create the housing bubble. In every debt crisis there are two groups to blame: those who got into debt beyond its means, and those who lended too much money to people that cannot pay back. Every debt crisis except the Eurozone one, where NOBODY is talking about the responsabilty of the creditors.
This guy is awesome. Any man that keeps NATO and Angela Merkel waiting for a phone call about nothing deserves respect. You have to have the "I don't give a fuck about you" kind of attitude to pull this off. Good foreign policy Berlusconi! They'll be talking about you for the ages, like they're doing now.
Sil Vicious didn't look so cocky when one of Merkel's agents twatted him in the face a few months later in Milan. So much for Sil Vicious - he never fucked with Merkel after that LOL!!! ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐
he is saying on the phone: "CON LA VENTURA DEVI MANTENERE I RAPPORTI!" Translated: "You must keep in contact with Ventura" (referring to Simona Ventura, a popular italian show girl). I'm not kidding, i'm Italian :)
Well, that's true Turkey's decisively growing and it didn't get affected too much from global financial crisis. Because it didn't have toxic investment instruments from US, so Turkey's finance system didn't down unlike some other EU countries like Holland. Things are going in favor of Turkey. But when it comes to comparing Turkish economy with Italy's,you would also accept that Italian economy is much larger and advanced.
Gbo, to be clear: I'm not a Mussolini admirer (Mussolini's war brung Italy in ruin, like Germany or Japan , at the end) , just an historian,.... but I have to say that reading those old extracts from articles of Montanelli about Finland invaded was really appreciable (he was friend of maresciallo Mannerheim ,I've read) ...'til now I don't knowed much of this part of the history of WWII, great respect for the way finnish people resisted
About the "personal" laws, in Italy there is a Head of State that is able to veto them. In fact, is his job. Here in Spain our king signs every law and he cannot talk about politics. If he ever vetoes a law, we would have a republic the next day.
I see most western government (including Merkel) have spent much more money helping banks, and other struggling sectors of the economy, than italian government. Italian banks are still sound. It seems that italians don´t like to play to "financial casino"
Once i had an appointment with my italian friend in italy and i reached on spot before 10 minutes and she was late around 20 minutes haha then she said me its not so late its normal dai dai non e troppo tardi hahaha italian are generally like this and i lived among deutsch too and that made me the punctual on timing, and germans are so angry if someone get late and imagine this minister is on an international forum and making wait her infront of camers and thats really disrespectful
Gdybyś go Pan poznał BLIŻEJ (i to mogę Panu ZAGWARANTOWAĆ!) pański "sentyment" do niego, skurczyłby się do ZERA. PS. ...ALE!... TO POWIEDZIAWSZY! ...zawsze mi to sprawiało satysfakcję, kiedy "Kaiserin" Markel DOSTAWAŁA PUBLICZNIE "W POLICZEK"! 😈 Co jak co, ale Berlusconi przynajmniej nie padał na kolana jak nasz Tusk - ANI przed NIĄ - ANI PRZED FRYCAMI! ...
WOW this guy is a legend. Il più grande leggenda della scena politica in Europa. Indistruttibile e sempre divertente. Ho vissuto un centinaio di anni abbiamo Berlusconi.
Berlusconi has a 20 year old political career. Ironically, he was NOT in the government when the big decisions were made: 1) Massive privatization of state-owned industries (most of them profitable) 2) Euro entry 3) Approval of European Union budget for 2000-2006: Italy was a big net payer 4) Approval of European Union budget for 2007-2013: Italy is even a bigger net payer; at the same level of France and Finland 5) More massive privatizations 6) Approval of EU budget for 2014-2020
Fortunately a big part of us Italians feel ashamed about him. I just hope the most part will finally vote against him... the only problem is, the other ones are not so different from him, but it would be quite enough t otry a new start.
I understand , there are a pair of good articles online (but in italian language) bout the Montanelli days in Finland , he was the only one foreign correspondent thosee days there , after the war they gave him an onorificenza ("Lion of Finland") , thanx for the historical informations
When Gordon Brown speaks I pay no attention, when Silvio Berlusconi speaks I laugh, when Nicholas Sarkozy speaks I think about his wife, when Angela Merkel speaks I listen. Greetings from Croatia!
