Thank you very much for your review. I was thinking to buy exactly the same machine B79.....but i was not sure. Do you recommend this machine? It is possible to adjust the zigzag stich? Looking forward to your feedback.
so far I am very happy with the machine, its a massive upgrade from my circa 1982 Kenmore Ultra Stitch 6, I did have to adjust the factory setting on the sewing bobbin by loosening the screw because I am using very thick V62 upholstery thread on most of my actual sewing projects, but the embroidery system is working fine. my only complaint is the cost of the Bernina Tool box software that is required to run the embroidery part of the machine. There are other options but that is the one that I chose to use because it is designed to work with the machine. I am purely a hobbyist I highly recommend "Sewing with Cody and Pete" they have a very comprehensive knowledge of the B79 and many other Bernina machines. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pPE_1PmgXyQ.html
@@11THEFEZMAN11 Many thanks for your fast answer. When I asked for the B79 machine the sales person told me that it is not a good machine. Obviously they work for Bernina (it was a bernina store).....they told me that Bernette b79 had a problem to adjust the thread to zigzag stitches and problems with the embroidery system. Also they told me there is no option to quilt but in a small brochure I saw that it is possible to work with the b79 . I know Code and Pete channel 🤗. Thanks again for you time and kind feedback. Helps a lot.
Thank you for your demonstration. I just acquired the machine. I need to sew some cushions. I was thinking on Marine vinyl fabric of 0.95mm thickness/30oz weight. I read the manual on fabric selection and Leather/vinyl is an available option. This may be testing the limits on this machine, do you think sewing with the Bernetter B79 will be a problem with double that thickness of the marine vinyl fabric? Thanks, Sheila
With the correct needles and thread it should work for 2-4 layers but you may have to manually adjust the bobbin tension because of the heavy 60wt thread. I bought a Sailrite walking foot machine for sewing heavy materials like vinyl and 1000wt codura because I did have an issue with the Bernette and heavy materials.
@@11THEFEZMAN11 Thank you for the advice. I got samples of the fabric to test. I appreciate your prompt response. Your video about the other sewing machines you own was very informative. I think I may also acquire the Saltrite as well. I like to venture with projects that may require this type of industrial type of machine besides garnments. Happy 4th of July! Sheila
@@sheilarosario2053 the SailRite was expensive and super heavy but, as far as I am concerned it was well worth the money. I just made some go cart seats last week with it and it operated flawlessly, I could have done the job with the B79 but it would have required me to fiddle to much with it, the Sailrite is already set up to sew that type of material, the time savings alone and knowing it will “sail right through it” (dad joke) makes it worth the extra money and space it takes up.
There are a few possible reasons, did you swap out the bobbin case? They have different tensions there is one with a red triangle and one with a white triangle. I think the red one is for embroidery, the machine will indicate that on the screen when you install the embroidery module. The other is the top thread tension is two tight, but, that is usually because the bobbin case is wrong or you incorrectly threaded the machine, or the bobbin, when in doubt re thread the machine. The other possibility is that your bobbin thread is not correct, I use “embroidery bobbin thread” at least that’s what the spool says it is. Another possible option is the needle is the wrong size. I had to correct all of these problems to get my machine to run properly. I also did many many tests before doing an actual project on a good piece of material. I suggest checking out “sewing with Cody and Pete “ he has many better videos than mine that trouble shoot better.
