wow, talk about slick. He even fooled these two into believing that he hated living in luxury for the past 20 years and was so scared that he forgot to turn himself in.
Zane Hovey you must be foolish..Naive or just plain stupid. You live enough life and you will know that money ain’t shit! People sitting here thinking rich people have money ..We all are broke. Plain broke! I lived a Hell of a life. Broke living in the projects working at Popeyes no credit making about 15k a yr.. Got a trade 10yrs later making 40-50k a yr..7yrs later got a job making over 100k a yr bring home and I had credit with 30k limit on credit cards. This is what I know. I would’ve rather made 30k a yr with no debt than making a 100k a yr with debt because I was trying to keep up with styles and trends that my neighbors had. YOU THINK RICH PEOPLE DONT DO THAT? The more money you make the more you spend.
Do u have any idea what it’s like to live in fear...every day Bernie was shitting his pants wondering if today was the day everything would blow up...you really have no idea ....he was living with a piano over his head about to drop at any second...trust me he’s not lying! Obviously you’ve never done anything by bad so you have no idea what he’s talking about! I do! I know what it’s like to just wait for the shoe to drop and get caught!
CRAZY!! I CANT AFFORD THERAPY. . . I’ve worked my whole life. . i’ve had to get myself out of my ruts. . . he knew what he was doing was wrong and had plenty of chances to stop… The only reason he needs therapy is to justify what he’s done
I've never figured out why "babwa wa wa" was on the INSIDE of interview big time all the way back to her first post: the Shah of Irans inauguration which spent more money than his country had in a year. and it was a Police State . Barbara got the node. But I do think I know, and it's the same reason Madoff got to pull of his scams: membership in the "correct" circle. Figure it out.
You can’t bring tape recorders or video cameras into federal prisons, so she had to take notes and read what he said. In state and local prison for the most part you can, but it depends on who it is and if they’re willing to speak to that person.
The investors were just as greedy as him. Their returns were astronomical and unrealistic, and they never once questioned him on his business practices.
@@ShuffleboardJerk alleging that Picower and his wife Barbara knew or should have known that their rates of return were "implausibly high", with some accounts showing annual returns ranging from 120% to more than 550% from 1996 through 1998, and 950% in 1999
A lot of the investors had their pensions from the gov with him....and many did not even know this. So were they "greedy' too? Or were they just working people expecting a pension after decades and finding out that much of there pensions $$ was not there. Ask anyone who is expecting a pension ....where that money is invested and likely they have NO clue and NO power to change where it is. And if the "big boys" at the SEC could not figure out that this was a ponzi scheme and they were told numerous times....how do you expect the average person to know what it was? And much of the returns were not all that high....but they were consistent which should have been a clue to the regulators who were informed for many years....did investigations and found nothing wrong. If anything, the regulatory people were the ones that allowed Madoff to continue his scam after countless investigations....
I worked at this very prison back in 2000. As Barbara said, I'm sure the younger inmates look up to him as a hero because that is their mindset. Criminals always admire each other for the evil deeds they have done, especially anything involving getting over on the police or any other law enforcement agency. Most of these guys don't care about anyone or anything, and most of them aren't bothered by having to spend most of their lives in prison. FCI Butner is practically a vacation for these guys, indoor basketball court, tennis courts, etc. They have it better there than they do on the street. That is why so many of the prisons are overcrowded.
you are claiming that the inmates want to stay? they are overcrowded because the inmates won't leave? you reflect the level of intellect that seems to infect our prison system.
@@jv-ep2tc Yes, for the most part that is what I'm saying. They have three meals a day, a warm place to sleep, plenty of physical activities to keep them in shape, work on a college degree, and they don't have to get a real job and pay bills like the rest of us. Why wouldn't they want to stay? Obviously you have never worked in a prison because if you had you would relate to my point of view. As for your opinion about my "level of intellect", I couldn't care less about that. It means nothing to me.
@@csfan65 your reply is intellectually bankrupt. you should not be responsible for other human beings with the level of contempt that you show. history has proven that to be a bad combination.
@@jv-ep2tc I haven't worked in the prison system since 2005. I have moved on to much better things, and the people that I deal with now are smart, responsible people who actually work for a living instead of laying around all day living off of the tax payer's dollar.
@@jv-ep2tc Insulting someone and saying on how stupid they are, only shows arrogance, it doesn't show intelligence. You speak like you know how to fix our prison system, yet too timid to do something concrete and meaningful to solve this issue. If you're so passionate, why not contribute your time on fixing our prison system, instead of spending your time insulting people on RU-vid yeah?
where is there a difference between killing an innocent person or taking millions from hundreds of innocent people ? Ruining their lives and hopes and dreams.. If he can,t get the death sentence he should be in at least solitary confinement !
Amazing after all the lives he destroyed he gets low to medium security prison Butner in north carolina. Why not Rikers in NY where he commited his crimes? Just goes to show you one rule for them and another for us.
Because it costs more to construct and maintain a high security prison. If one doesn't really need to go there its less costly for you the taxpayer if they are incarcerated in a less secure facility.
I'm thinking the same thing...a lot of clues that he's holed up in a safe house (mansion) close to the prison to give a few interviews, pull a ken lay and then off to argentina.
You need to have a certain amount of sociopathy and hypocrisy with a good dose of self-serving entitlement, plus a good pair of tits, ass and a face that makes people want to see you.
I know this is an old comment, but I believe in this video here they mention that they were allowed interview him, but that it couldn't be videotaped or recorded, so they just wrote down the interview on paper. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZTl9ULcowhc.html
A lot of these people who invested, invested thinking Bernie had Insider info, so some of them deserved what they got. For the ones who just trusted him with their retirement are a different story.
This isn’t true at all. Many of them were working class people who were only expecting market average returns on their 401k and ended up losing their entire life savings. In fact, some of them even expecting to lose money, especially during the economic depression of the late 2000s.
Well a lot of people invested in him did not even know they were. Some pension plans and portions of money from mutual funds left some money with Madoff for safe keeping and growth.
@@kateoloughlin8774 Ha ha, thanks Kate, you're the only one who got a kick out of that. I've put it on several Bernie Madeoff youtube vids and no one responded.
Bernie broke the cardinal rule of running a heist: when the heat is on, ALWAYS be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. He simped out and confessed to his wife and kids
And his kids turned him in the day he confessed to them. Bernie was in the process of ripping off even more $$ but the authorities FINALLY locked down everything and arrested him before he could do it...thanks to his sons contacting authorities the day he told them.
some brains are wired to self destruct. there was a hidden belief that he did not deserve success or money or happiness. so, he devised a plan that would remove all 3 from his life. since he achieved that goal, he now believes that he is happier than he is ever been which is ridiculous to the outsider. he is the best example I can think of to show how our minds work on 2 different levels.
What is amazing with Madoff is he could of been the top boss of any company earning millions and millions and living a life of insane wealth and calm but he chose a life of fear.
I guess it got to a point where he actually believed he was doing good, it’s constancy. But then he opened his eyes and it was too late to get out of it.
You speak the truth and his ultimate place of residence will be in Hell with the devil for eternity. Pain that never ends. That will be justice well deserved.
He DID make some wealthier people wealthier. Some people KNEW it was a Ponzi and knew when to get out. LOL. And nightmares? Had he MADE 50 billion instead of paying it all out and being broke he would sleep just fine because ALL rich criminals can sleep at night. He's lying though. You don't run a Ponzi for 30 years and say "Oh, I feel bad now". That's to make the victims feel good. LOL. You gotta love him if you are smart and see through it if you were one of the one's who made money with him.
And now he’s asking for compassionate release-health/kidney issues; he’s 81...one opinion is he has about 18 months to live. He doesn’t meet criteria for compassionate release which is 6-9 month life expectancy.
This is a sad 😢 story... and is a reflection for all the ppl who are so ambitious and selfish ...I pray to god Ruth leave the rest of her life in peace!
SupergamerR Ry don’t be fooled by this “sad” story. He’s a sociopath so does not think like normal people. It’s the game of the sociopath, messing with your feelings.
"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." Colossians 3:5
Sorry, but that's what a Ponzi scheme is - NOT investing. You get $100 from one person, give $20 to the next patsy and tell them it's a dividend. No stocks or accounts are involved - it's all a fake and fraudulent. Every single dollar that that family got should be given back to the people they stole it from.
@@billyd5317 : it’s greedy to think that you can be guaranteed 14%,15% or 16% guaranteed returns month after month year after year. That’s what I’m talking about!!
Who are these greedy investors? You mean the ones who had their pensions invested in his fraud and they had no clue about it? How is is "greed" to invest in the stock market with a well known and aclaimed money manager?
@@henryc1000 Instead of blaming the victims....why don't you blame the Gov Watch Dog people who were TOLD numerous times that Madoff was running a ponzi scheme and they pretty much NOTHING to investigate. They share a lot of the blame of allowing this ponzi to continue for years and years and years. Look at the YOU Tube video on Madoff: "The Man who Knew" to see how this guy found out about the scam and how much he contacted authorities and they either blew him off....or did a lousey investigation.
@@cgee6867 I'm sure they are referring to the very wealthy at the top of the pyramid ponzi ladder benefiting from the others at the bottom. And some at the bottom were extremely wealthy too. Not all for sure. But it is unusual to have consistent high returns in such a volatile market. The ones getting their returns were the ones who pulled out quicker. The ones who invested later down the line paid for the ones at the top. Sad situation for the not so rich investors. I feel sorry for all of them to some degree.
He’s a monster and deserves to be brought to justice, but no one says anything about the ENORMOUS GREED that got all those investors to turn a blind eye to all the red flags. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! If you’re going to trust anyone with that much money and you CHOOSE not to dig around a little, not to make sure that there’s a solid foundation, then you’re partly responsible. Trusting someone with $100 dlls. is one thing. Trusting someone with your entire life savings and not questioning the legitimacy of what’s being presented to you as “no one gives you bigger returns than him”? C’MON!!!!! It’s really horrible for all these people and I feel bad for them, but they’re responsible too
Speak for yourself. I have been around the block many times, and I have never taken advantage of a person, lied to anyone or scrwed anyone out of $$. I have never got a traffic ticket....never been arrested for anything. And I know a lot of people that are pretty much like me. Maybe the "evil" ones are the ones you choose to hang with..
WRONG: We don't ALL have evil within. If you allow yourself to get out of hand, you need help. I enjoy being nice to people. Evil is from the devil. I refuse to follow such disgust, Turn yourself inro the authorities,
this guy robbed from the rich hahahaha not so much the poor that is why he is in jail alot have robbed from low and middle income they would get away with it the system is corrupt
He's happier in jail than he was as a free man? I don't believe that for a second. If a life of wealth, privilege and freedom was so dissatisfying why didn't he turn himself in?
Well at least he learnt the hard way that money and power corrupts I hope he finds peace within himself ... everyone deserves forgiveness if they seek it.
I Cried so hard when I saw Madoff movie 🎥 I know he ruined a lot of life financially but the price the he paid makes me believe in God and Karma ... so sad 😞 his kids had to pay for it ... they deserved be out of everything and live a normal life ... so sad 😞 I’m traumatized I feel Madoff pain God forgive him for his actions and Rest In Peace both of his kids ...
oh please..he is in prison..lost his two sons & his wife. I think people should get over themselves. Most of the people that lost money, were filthy rich.
Exactly! Serves all them right for being so fucken greedy, most, if not all his investors were fifthly rich to begin with but rich always wants to get richer but will not help the poor its all about themselves. I am not saying that Madoff didn't do anything wrong, he did, and deserves life in prison but for some people to keep harping on him like he is satan is totally wrong! "Let ye who is perfect cast the first stone".
nobody is perfect, but what right or excuse did that give him to steal money from people.it is true that when some people get rich they get arrogant about it,but it still gives Madoff and others like him no right to do that.being arrogant is not against the law,but theft is.im sorry, but robin hood was a fairy tale.
Ended up earning 170 dollars a month the last 12 years of his life... A fitting end for someone so obsessed by money that he destroyed countless lives because of this.
