Speaking as a British citizen, I must admit that this made me cry. Thanks Bernie for such an enlightening interview regarding the state of US politics. 👏👏
Sanders would've saved thousands of Palestinians' lives..Yes he would've still sent in arms initially but there's little doubt he would've been able to limit or indeed cut it early on into this horrific retaliatory assault...The US citizens who claimed 4 years back that Biden was "electable" unlike Bernie should know that they share moral responsibility for the criminal actions of their candidate.
I'm a born and raised Puertorrican, disabled combat vet and very proud of AOC. I will be eternally gratefull for Bernie and his collegues for the 'Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands Equitable Rebuild Act' they legislated after the disaster that hurricane Maria was in 2016 which helped my parents and other family in the island.
I'm so sorry the ex LIAR-IN-CHIEF acted and said the things he did about Puerto Rico and the people who live there. The throwing of paper towels was just too much. Just like Carlson, I hate him PASSIONATELY.
@@randibgoodyou sound like a boot licker. My God man, pull your tongue in and give it a rest. Did this guy ever mention he hates Carson or anyone else in office? Or do you just take it upon yourself to assume?!
I’m Jewish and from Bernie’s old neighborhood in Brooklyn I got to see him when he came back to announce his candidacy for 2016. What a difference it would make to have these two running the country and not the wall builder.
@@bothpartiesaretraitors4021Not necessarily because it’s her, but how could you ever get in the seat without playing with the system! Obama was chosen because he was part of the system in a much deeper way.
@@bothpartiesaretraitors4021 Not a surprising opinion with a username like yours. There are some people who will never be able to live in reality. You, are definitely one.
I feel the same about Corbyn here in the UK. And what drivel we have had for leaders since he ran! The media have control of the masses. But do not give up folk.
It is so reassuring to see into the authenticity of some of the players on the world stage and how they 1hey raise the standard of the public debate. Power to them.👏🙌🫶❤️🌹j.
Amazing people who are of the same mind. I live in the UK and we have just the same issues that you have experienced and lived through. However, we all have had the opportunity to access affordable healthcare in the past but this is beginning to change in the UK. Long waits for surgery, lack of funding to support people with long term healthcare needs. Doctors who are just starting out in their careers already disillusioned with their earnings. The people who support our creaking NHS are the hard working nurses, many of them immigrants, the cleaners, the on the ground office staff and porters and kitchen staff. Sadly this is going downhill. At 75, I recently had a pacemaker fitted after many years with deteriorating health. During the surgery the consultant said, very sarcastically, 'And this all free on the NHS '. I was dumbfounded. My husband and I both came from working class families. We are not graduates, but sacrificed to enable both our children to have the opportunity to go to university and have financial security. Neither of them had an easy journey but both worked hard, as we expected them to and have done well. We are fast mirroring the States' with an influx of thousands of migrants who see the UK as a safe haven. But we are experiencing seeing our resources diminishing. The haves and have-nots still exist as always. The way things are going in the world, exhausting our natural resources, climate change....... I could go on. The world needs more Alexandrias and Bernie, but what do we get? Trump and Putin and the rest of the greedy warmongers who continue to exploit and destroy. 😢😢😢😢😢
Great interview! I’m a white senior woman, and AOC’s background growing up is similar to my own in many ways. Thanks for having the courage to take these people on Alexandria. You go girl! There are more of us now than there ever has been and we feel empowered by leaders like you and Bernie!
There actually is a LOT more similar about her upbringing and the upbringing of blue collar rural Americans than there are differences and if only the right wing would realize that the average American regardless of party, struggles and works hard to just get by, and drop all the baloney fringe social issue garbage, then they'd wake up and realize it's corporate corruption that has turned our government into a malignant mess. And that's what the status quo wants; to keep the average people fighting in ignorance so they don't realize the money bag holding corporate swine standing over them poking both sides with a stick.
You both are the the type of politicians this country and world needs in order to have equality. I am so sad that senator Bernie Sanders didn’t win the presidency. Much love to AOC and BERNIE SANDERS.
If Bernie had been POTUS instead of Trump, 10s of thousands of Americans would still be alive from the Pandemic. Trump dismantled Obama's pandemic back up plans because he has a grudge against Obama from that roast. Plus millions of us would have Healthcare right now.
I grew up in a wealthy town in Westchester. After college I moved to Manhattan. It was in 1969. As a white woman, I never went above 96th Street. Bronx went from being a lower middle class community to a Puerto Rican enclave. It wasn’t considered safe. Everything AOC is saying is so true. We didn’t know about the lives in the Bronx. But as a single mom, I soon learned about poverty and the stress it brings. So often it’s the people you don’t”see.” They are the dishwashers, the janitors, the garbage collectors. Everyone deserves a decent life. That includes health care and a wage where you can bring up your family without having to work three jobs. She and Bernie are fighting for everyone, but sadly, they are the few who do.
No they’re not fighting for anyone but themselves. They’re telling you to vote for the guy who’s taken the most money from AIPAC. Bernie, AOC & every Democrat (minus R. Tlaib) voted to break the railroad labor strike, & are telling you to vote for the guy who enacted the strike breaking. They’re telling you to vote for the guy who’s aiding in genocide & if you vote for that guy, you are COMPLICIT in genocide.
I agree! We need to realize that if we do not get Biden back in , we are looking at Dictatorship of our country!!! Woman will be controlled! Healthcare gone! WE ALL NEED TO GET OUT AND DO OUR BEST TO GET AS MANY PEOPLE WE CAN TO VOTE FOR FREEDOM … for Biden!!! ❤
You mean being the two token progressives, placating the left of the party while Biden leads the country to disaster (another Trump term) and ships bombs for Israel to drop on apartments? Absolute failures
All people matter, it shouldn't make any difference what color your skin is, or what your parents do for a living. I find it to be amazing that as children, we grew up with a dad who was a coal miner, mom had to stay home and take care of us children. This was back in the 1950s. Dad did not make a lot of money back then in the mines, and it was very dangerous to work in a mine back then. Even though we were actually quite poor, as kids, we didn't realize it. To us it was normal. I wish you well and good luck to you.
@@AmirhoseinHerandy I'm not about to say that any of these rich, super old, straight, white, male politicians "look good". To each their own though. Good luck with that.
I love AOC’s story. It makes me so proud to see a young lady of Puerto Rican descent, from the Bronx, making a difference, and me being a Puerto Rican female from Jersey City, I couldn’t be prouder.
@@minismith7329 The education she earned , the work in her neighborhoods , the campaign for congress and the work and honesty she has exhibited in congress
AOC, your story is so inspiring! I hope more people like you will be inspired to run. Keep going so we can vote for you to be president one day! Thank you and thank you Bernie!
I grew up in the suburbs of Boise, Idaho and looking back I know my family struggled a lot, but we weren't even the worst off out of folks I knew. People like you got us reduced or free lunches and breakfast in school which made our family's funds go further to buy school supplies, clothes, and prescriptions. We were able to attend head start preschools and be on a more level playing field with folks much better off. Thank you for flighting for human dignity
Thank you AOC for telling us your story again. And having Bernie there with you to support you and the two of you supporting eachother strenghthens your cause. You both speak truth and having a plan at the grass roots level will reach all the ones needed to keep Trump out of office. Listen to Bernie as an unwaivering force for all people. We will win! Thank you both for all you do and all the people like you both in the House and Senate that are taking up the fight with you. Keep taking opportunities like this to build a team of people that trust and believe in you both and the others I'd just mentioned and the trust is power. Bernie has never changed his message and my son was the first to prove that to me. Before Trump stress and my son helping me quickly bringing me up to speed on politics, that I finally realized, I can no longer keep my head in the sand and trust "Right to prevail"...
@@brianwelsch2418 I'm actually a Democrat bud 👍 Republicans don't even exist anymore, only extremists and the soulless cowards that follow trump to stay in office
I'm a 45 year old white guy who grew up in the south, in a conservative, Rush Limbaugh listening family. I'm happy to say listening to Bernie and AOC seriously helped me in my metamorphosis from GOP/libertarian to committed liberal/progressive. It was actually the hate & vitriol from the right towards you two that really made me pay attention to you because they were so irrationally scared of you. Keep fighting for what's right. Workers of the world unite!
That’s a beautiful story! I too used to be a diehard Libertarian. But then I realized how idealistic I was being and allowed myself to look harder at reality. We need nuance and cooperation, not just a religious belief in unfettered free markets and the invisible hand. Markets are a tool that must serve all humans or they’re barbaric.
I really never understood why people would listen to Rush L . People fighting for a health care plan that serves everyone, seniors who are in need of housing, or just paying there utilities. This country is so Rich we can solve these problems.
Both of you are incredible people who inspire me as a liberal. I feel the Bern and the AOC shine's. I am a shop steward for my unit and so proud of all the unionized workers coming around and the new shops all over the country. So proad of my fellow Americans organizing our work force and turning the country around.
Cortez is what I consider a "Bernie Sanders Baby"....a Social democrat inspired by Bernie....not a classic Liberal. Sanders was the big inspiration that really brought Social democracy back to the US.
She might be a Social Democrat now.. but back then she was a Democratic Socialist. Bernie is still a Socialist who wants democracy to be supreme. That means we see the class war and we see the futility of Wall Street Rule.
It doesn’t matter what category she fits into or not. She works hard, has improved since her first years (which were good, anyway) and just gets better and better. All while representing her constituents in an honest and honorable way. I hope they keep voting for her because we really need her.
I was born in Chicago and raised in the South Bronx. I was there during the times of those fires. Although I was not raised in a rich neighborhood, my mother's hard work and determination help me to achieve my goals. She too was from Puerto Rico and came to the United States for a better life. I am blessed to say that her example helped me to achieve my goals and I achieved a higher education. And I successfully worked in three Fortune 500 companies which afforded me a middle-class lifestyle.
Bernie, I've been a socialist since I was 20 -- 61 years. I worked full-time in the antiwar movement. One of my friends moved home to Vermont to work on one of your early campaigns. You've inspired me for years. Thank you so much for sticking with it. Bob
You are both inspirational and are amongst my favourite US politicians - as I live in the UK I am happy to see that for every MTG & Boebert, there is an AOC and Sanders.
If MAGA could listen to this interview without knowing who the speakers are, I think they too would agree with all the points. So many MAGA are POOR and struggling. How can they not understand how much progressive policies would benefit them? Love and admire both Bernie and AOC for their work, fairness and foresight into what would truly make America great.
I'm MAGA, and I listened intently. Yes, I knew who they were, of course. But I'd still disagree just as vehemently either way. The problem is progressive policies don't work. You can see it played/playing out in NYC, San Francisco, Portland, Baltimore, St. Louis, Austin, etc., or in entire countries like Venezuela. (Or Argentine, before a radical conservative was elected due to the utter failing of the progressive/socialist policies and economic collapse there. Side note: His radically-conservative polices and actions have already made a _huge_ improvement in that country.) Specific example: Crime in NYC today is off the charts, despite the mayor claiming otherwise--if you stop arresting people, crime "goes down." It is very similar to how it was immediately before Giuliani was elected. People were _sick_ of it, and chose his conservative Republican tough-on-crime stance. His opponents called him racist (and every other name in the book) for his policies. But ... they _worked._ In a _very_ short period of time, the city became (again) a nice place to live, work and visit. And everybody benefited, _everybody,_ regardless of skin color, politics, gender, age, income level ... _everybody._ And that's the real difference between the two ideologies: Progressive policies sound good, _feel_ good. But history proves they simply don't work. Conversely, conservative policies can, on the surface, seem harsh and uncaring. Except, history proves they _do work._ And because they work, they actually help _all_ people, not just the elected and the elites. Thanks for a civil discourse. Peace, love and blessings.

She's open and willing to talk out ideas, she's strong enough to challenge the system and has already shown that she can win against a rigged system. So, im an old white guy living in idaho. However, born in west islip, NY, and raised in a very rural area north east of philadelphia. I was raised in a republican household, and voted that way for many years. After W trashed our economy, i switched parties, and have never looked back. I think democrats do a much better job with the economy and governance. I think Bernie and AOC are two of the greatest hopes for our country. Wonderful human beings. Wonderful ideas. I absolutely loved this podcast. Thank you bith very much, and please please keep up the good fight 🙏
Hi from the UK. I wish we had a Bernie Sanders in our political system. Things aren't as bad here because we still have the NHS but the corruption in our current Government is unprecedented. They are the equivalent of your Republicans and to them 'socialism'is a dirty word. Things rapidly deteriorated for both our countries in the Thatcher/Reagan years and the gap between rich and poor has become wider. We now have more people living in poverty, especially children, in both our countries than at any other time since the war. It is shameful when you think we are 2 of the richest countries on the planet. Antonia sounds like a younger version of Bernie...maybe she'll make President one day!! She'd definitely knock spots off any of the Republicans I've seen! Solidarity with all of you democrats💙💙💙 . I'm rooting for Biden
I thank both of you for what you do. I greatly admire you both and am grateful to have you in Congress. America needs more of you. Please don't ever stop!
Thanks for doing this Bernie. It is important to keep talking sanely about the issues because corporate media is only looking for the clicks now. Alos they put the corporate spin on all interviews.
Still can’t understand why people won’t listen to either of these two. Neither have a mean bone in their body and they are both super intelligent. Not to mention they are some of the very few gov workers that actually want to rebuild the middle class.
I remember as a kid born in NJ driving through the slums in New York and asking my parents...why are those people poor? I love hearing you.. l'm a BU graduate as well. It was very left wing until the school president was axed in the 1970's. I have been a Democrat since then. Good to know you are in Congress. I was a struggling single mom. I have been fighting for affordable housing since the 1980's

This was so awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed this interview!! I’m an 80 year old woman currently living in Florida 😱. Because of you, AOC, I know our democracy will survive and I really love Bernie and his determination and his fight for the rights of all people. I was thinking as I watched, that if not for the fact that Republicans managed to secure minority rule over the last 40 years and push the overton window so far to the Right... these two would just be considered the normal center of American politics... just average liberal Democrats... instead of being seen as the "far-left", when all they want is the basic social services and standards of most first-world countries.
Support Progressive Democratic candidates following Bernie's lead, who take no corporate money & promise to overturn Citizens United, that a Republican-controlled Congress forced through in 2010, allowing Corporations, Billionaires, & Cherches to purchase our Politicians and Judges. Send contributions directly to their respective campaigns during the Primaries ❤😊
Love the Leadership of These 2. We need them and more like them. The only ones who give me any hope are these 2, Rankin, Crockett, and K. Porter. That's it.
Jarrod Moscovitch is also on that list of democrats who are good for this country. He drives the Republicans nuts with his pure facts. He ridicules them and they have no recourse.
