Nice diag!! Wouldn't you want to find out why the power wire to the hub module has low voltage on it. Maybe a connector terminal or wire has high resistance from corrosion? It might come back with other issues if other wires are damaged or a connector has water getting in it.
If it takes more than a certain amount of time its better to just run a new wire. They definitely tried looking for it but most likely it was gonna get expensive and the customer was made aware of the situation and declined. This stuff ain't cheap... If you watch his other videos in cases like this the first thing he does is go check all the connectors on that circuit.

How often do you find the problem and it's just the one wire. I NEVER run a new wire without confirming the damage. Just asking for a comeback or the next tech finds the wire you ran and trash talks you to the customer stating you didn't repair it properly.

@@1MiketheMechanic This problem wont come back because it is not shorting to ground, I would be concerned if it was which would be brought down to 0 volts and burnt modules.
@@scientist100 You are entirely right, but this is assuming that this was the only problem. It's not shorting to ground yet, but a wire doesn't develop a high resistance on its own in the middle of a harness, something happened to it. I like to fix the cause of a problem before I let a car out of my bay, not only cure the symptom. Now Bernie is a way more knowledgeable person than I am, and I am sure he had a good reason to do it the way he did it, but he didn't mention it. And that was the o.p.'s question. WHY he did it that way.
I noticed some splicing in the area you exposed which looked like some sort of aftermarket installation. An alarm perhaps? Is it possible that this had an effect on your K-Line power?
