Gayle from BERNINA of Naperville shows you how to use combi mode to spell a word and then stitch out the word with the sequence stopping autommatically. You will use Pattern end, group, the thread cutter and and other functions in this easy lesson.
Machines that can apply this technique: BERNINA 880 PLUS, 790 PLUS, 880, 790, 770, All 5 and 7 series and older artista 200/730 and 830 computerized machines.

My motto is why do it by hand when I paid so much for the machine.😉 there are those times when it’s unfortunately necessary…great video, clear instructions, love the humor. I’m ready to try combi mode! I’ve gotten into it by accident and couldn’t get out. So frustrating. Now I think I get it! Thanks.

I wanted to say how much I very much appreciate you and your videos. I watch a lot of them. I love your enthusiasm! You have taught me a lot about my Bernina. I am super new to sewing and went all in on the Bernina. I am just learning to sew and bought a 590 and have been thrilled with it, but don’t know how to use it. You have great video as and if I ever get out to Naperville, Illinois am coming to visit! I live in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks again for doing these great videos.

I just found your channel. This was my first video to watch. I thought your hand sewing was perfect. I hate hand sewing too. I'm a Husqvarna Viking baby and it's fun to see how other machines program. 30 years + sewer/tailor. Not a big quilter but I love heirloom clothing and there are so many hand look stitches that can be reproduced by the machine. When I have to hand sew running my thread through a bounce dryer sheet really cuts down on the tangling. But seeing you sew with silk thread I think I'll have to try it.

I found that when making labels on my 750QE machine that it often changed the font sizes from one line to the next, which really spoiled the look of my labels. I struggled with this a long time, but realised that rows of writing with ‘descenders’ - like ‘This quilt was’ etc then the font size was small, but without ‘descenders’ - like ‘November 2021’ then the font was huge. Now I add a space at the end of the words I’m writing and add a ‘g’. Since I started doing this my labels are much better - no change of font size 👍👍 🇬🇧
@BERNINAofNaperville
@BERNINAofNaperville 2 года назад
That’s one way to do it, but it seems you are referring to the embroidery side of the lettering. This tutorial works in the sewing side. Also, instead of adding spaces in you lines on the embroidery side, consider writing your first line of text and then adjust that to the actual font size you like. Then, adjust each additional row to the same letter height using your resizing capabilities In the embroidery editing tools on the machine. This will keep the leading a d keening accurate.

@@BERNINAofNaperville It’s the only way I know how to make labels on my 750QE. It was wanting to make labels that was one of the reasons I bought this machine, then when I kept getting font size changes I was disappointed, but explored how I could solve the problem. @@glynisreynolds446 like I mentioned earlier. This is why I posed the suggestion above. Yes the screen I use looks different but it works the same. You can enlarge and reduce and see the exact size change on your screen. The 750 has a different operating system and unfortunately we are not in practice to perform tutorials on out of date operating systems. Perhaps a visit to your local BERNINA store for a refresher is necessary.

Excellent video. Two questions. You mentioned that you prefer your 20D. Until my budget allows, I have a 1D and a 20C for my 570QE. Which is better the the openness of 20C or the dual feed feature of the 1D? Also what is your preference for needle type on the cotton linen/quilting cotton: do you use an embroidery needle, Bernina universal or other? I am making labels for my neighbor who makes quilts. Thank you!
@BERNINAofNaperville
@BERNINAofNaperville Год назад
So. You would be best served for an open toe foot, so use the #20C. Secondly, for the needle; universal Needles are a Jane of all trades, master of none. I like a microtex size 80 for tiny detailed stitching. You can purchase microtex needles in the brand Schmetz or the BERNINA ones. www.berninaofnaperville.com/products/schmetz-chrome-microtex-80-12-needles-5-pack?_pos=1&_sid=80c1d68a3&_ss=r

@@miriamjuhl1941 not on the B 535. That machines maximum stitch width is 5.5mm. If you want larger lettering, you need to either add the embroidery attachment or invest in a 9mm stitch width machine like the B 570, 590, 770, 790, 880 or 990
