I must have been living under a rock - i did not know how the hook goes into its housing. I have just been trying to put it in with my fingers which is such a tricky maneouvre. Thank you for including that.
Loved the way you still put your hand to the back looking for the presser foot lever to lift the foot, Jeff, and then stopped yourself part way because, of course, not on this machine! I'm still getting used to not having a presser foot lever on my 570, it's hard though after 50+ years of sewing. Great machine of course and I'm watching all your relevant videos about it.
Thank you SO SO much! You really helped me out and saved me a 50-mile round trip to the sewing machine place plus repair costs. Also ordered your cool credit-card cutter, I am NOT using that auto thread cutter again.
Did not know thread nests hurt the cutter, had to have my (Viking) machine cutter replaced last year after a particularly difficult project was producing pretty repeatable nests. Ima fan thanks for sharing your knowledge base, and love, love the sharpening you did on my scissors.
While you didn't address my personal issue (570 QE FHS insertion problem - user error I'm sure), I learned so many things from these tutorials!! Thank you so much!!
I have a Bernina B590.Since the beginning I have had trouble specifically with black thread, at the moment it is black Aurofil thread. I constantly have a nest under my fabric after a few inches of stitching. I switched to white thread (Mettler), first on the top, it worked fine, changed bobbin thread to white Mettler. All was okay. Switched back to black thread, Aurofil on top and Mettler in the bobbin. Immediately there was a nest. I then changed tho top to Mettler thread. It is working fine now. I have used Aurofil in green and red with no problems. This makes me think that the bobbin and top thread must be the same manufacturer. However, I know I have used mixed top and bobbin thread before and had no problems with other colors. Generally when changing to black thread, there is always a problem when first stitching. I thread, rethread multiple times and same with the bobbin along with using the cleaning brush. Eventually it will work okay with the black thread. It is infuriating. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you very much.
Got to say a big thanks for your video. I had this very problem so followed your advice and amazed myself by sorting it out and saved myself a good few pounds (UK) in the process.
Are there any videos on the Bernina serger? I am trying to figure out what is preventing my serger foot from swinging out fully, it is hard to thread the needles with this problem.
Jeff, When I start sewing I have the tie off set. At the beggining it causes a small birds nest. It is not a clean tie off. What am I doing wrong? I am quilting and on 1303 stitch. Bernina B770 Plus
Quality Sewing and Vac in Tukwila Washington will ship anywhere! Have no idea how they get a way with that but I would never have a new machine shipped to me! Just be aware of the silliness that’s out there! I’m driving 45 miles to pick up my new machine in a couple days.
@@berninajeff All warranty’s should be null and voided on machines that are shipped. I just bought my Kaffe in late December and I can in no way imagine a delicate piece of machinery such as this falling out the back end of a FedX truck! !
6:41 hi. I’m trying to darn wool socks with a 590, using Madeira Lana in the needle & bobbin & stitch 34. Lots of thread breaks & bobbin nests. Can you advise me how to carry out the sock darning?
I have a question. On my 770qe, I can’t change the stitch length or width very well. As I rotate the dial it jumps sporadically through the choices. For example. If I want to change to 3.0 length it jumps to 3.5 then .8 or 1.0 or anything AS I am turning the dial to the right to increase the stitch length or width. Both dials are doing this. I recently did an update and it’s been this way ever since. Any suggestions?
The BSR should now skip. There is an upgraded spring that a tech can replace to help that issue. It came out with the 830 so not all techs know about it
I have an old 440QE. I pulled it out when my 570 was in Spa. The 440 didn’t want to turn on after sitting in the closet for a year. Black screen. After about 15 minutes it came to life. 🙂 It is a great machine.
