Show you how to repair the roller on a Bernina 1530 (and 1630) that is no longer working using silicone earring backs. Done for my daughter Caresse Tarawa and anyone else that might find it helpful.
NOTE: IF YOU SEE THAT THE ROLLER IS ACTUALLY TURNING THE DIAL BEFORE THE FIX, THEN THIS WON'T BE YOUR PROBLEM.. I recently got a hold of my daughters 1630 and found that the issue was not the same as what I had. The roller ball was definitely turning the dials but the cursor was not moving from the top left hand corner of the screen. I entered a service menu (turn off the machine then hold in both the OK and Clear button while turning on the machine) which moves the cursor to a different part of the screen. Moving the roller I could see that the cursor was only able to move to the left, even when trying to move it right. The issue was a component on the motherboard. I took it in to a repairer who knew what part needed to be replace.... Sorry not sure what he did at this stage. If you are desperate for info, contact 'Make it Sew' in Tauranga, New Zealand (they fixed it for $125NZ). It now works great!
