R.I.P to the Legend, Kentaro Miura Composer: Susumu Hirasawa. Experimental loop. I own nothing. Enjoy. Credit to picture: adamharrad.devi... 10 Hrs: • Berserk - Theme of Gut...
For some reason this theme actually fits Guts in so many ways, at first sight you'd think a ruthless guy like him would have a more "aggressive" theme song but if you look closely into his character and see how much he's suffered then this theme fits so perfectly...
I feel that the relationship between Guts and Griffith is one of the most fleshed out, complex and deeply considered relationships ever written in the modern age. Not only their relationship, but their individual qualities as people. Their motivations, joys, aspirations and dreams. Neither of the two are morally simplistic characters in the slightest. To start with Guts, he was shaped by the events of his tragic early life. Born from the corpse of his dead mother, cast out as a bad omen from his only role models. Taken advantage of, beaten and used to their own gains. He simply did what he had to do to overcome the obstacles of his childhood. Through all his suffering, he never let any of that negativity twist his mind further than was necessary for his own survival. We move on to see him grow, to finally taste the companionship he had craved and was denied since he was a boy. We see him find love, friendship and a true sense of purpose for the first time in his life, only for him to be betrayed once more by his greatest friend. Even through the pain that had caused him, he still put the lives of those closest to him before his own, even if his callous nature prevents him from outwardly stating it. He is no doubt a damaged individual, but not a bad man. No doubt the loss of the love of his life, his dreams and companions had warped him into what he is today, a man fueled by revenge and pain. -- For Griffith, I believe that he was not inherently evil to begin with. He may have been a sociopath to some extent, but he never needlessly risked the lives of his men, and on many occasions has made sacrifices for the benefit of his army. He was a man whose dream was far greater than any one man could ever hope to achieve on his own, and with that burden he did what he had to do to achieve it, no matter the cost. Meeting Guts was a pivotal moment in his life. He had finally found someone with a will to match his own, and in that meeting, he had changed without even realizing it. Losing his greatest ally was the straw that broke the camel's back, especially when he was on the cusp of realizing that dream alongside his comrades. The mistake he made in grieving the loss of his best friend cost him that dream, and his men also payed the price. He had succumbed to the temptation of regaining the dream that was lost to him due to his own foolish, desperate actions. He had forsaken his humanity and assimilated himself with the ultimate evil for that one last chance. For the first time in his life, he was irreparably broken and shown that he was just as fragile as any other human. The dichotomy between his lust for power and his love for his comrades, as well as what he sacrificed to attain that last chance at his dream is what makes this story so truly tragic and heart-breaking. Berserk is a modern age Epic.
I'm 99.99% sure he has read it. Susume Hirasawa has composed beautiful tracks to Berserk. They fit very well and they add to the original manga outside of the anime.
AymanLT Don't forget she was smitten with Griffith, yet despite that learnt to love Guts..that's why I love Guts and Casca...such an unusual pairing, their development as a couple was amazing.
Rhys1003 I don't know what you mean by that, but all I know is that his life is the worst shit that can happen to anyone. And for me that makes him all the more better(he's my favorite character in all anime/manga) since he doesn't just break down and keeps going.
+Uchiha Shadow I agree with you so hard. Guts is easily my number one character of all time since he just continues to struggle and fight even if there is no hope of winning he still fights. like the fight with zodd, you see him get freaked out and still he keeps fighting the immortal zodd.. Other characters try to be "cool" in situations like that. thats why they can't compare to him.. they're not on the same level as the character guts.. he's on par with all the bad guys with how many people he has killed and he's a good character.. but he has alot of bad in him.. He is very human.. and why i say that is because.. he has been hurt emotionally and physically all of his life and that has shaped him to resort to his killing instincts and throw away all emotions except.. hatred. Born from a corpse, raised to fight, got sold to a paedophile, killed his stepfather, got banished, ended up in chains and endless battles as a kid and saw many battlefields.. met band of the hawk.. and things were good.. found best friend and a good woman.. listened to best friend.. killed a nobleman and then his kid by mistake for best friend.. get betrayed by best friend.. girlfriend gets raped by best friend.. best friend kills all of guts friends and leaves his gf with ptsd amnesia while receiving godlike powers.. guts loses an arm and an eye.. swears revenge against the man that was his brother.. AND ALL THE ABOVE IS JUST HIS EARLY LIFE.. THE INTRO TO THE SERIES.. Also, i did not mean to write a comment this long but its hard to stop when GUTS IS THE BEST CHARACTER OF ALL THE MANGA I'VE READ AND ANIME I'VE SEEN. ill shut up now.. x'D
what I like about gus is he never gave up on the one person he loved in the world and he never stopped fighting even if it felt like he lost every thing
+Krakolio It doesn't fit his character on the _surface_ (big, tough, scary killing machine), but it fits what he really is deep down...a lone wolf that has had a hard life and yearns for companionship.
True, what I love about Guts' character is that despite appearing like a hulking Conan expy on maximum testosterone poisoning, deep down he's just sentimental sad sack that just wants to be happy with the woman he loves and is at times very regretful of the actions he's done to survive.
Smithkakarot more than that. Guts yearns for purpose. His will is beyond anything else and he has the strongest determination of will when focused at a certain perspective. Guts is complicated in what he truly seeks
The tears this song can produce are are the tears of pain and relief, sorrow and joy. This song cuts deep down on a good soul that has suffered a tragic life. I feel for guts and the pain he suffered must have crushed him deep down inside, but his will is strong and he can and will overcome anything.
I read the entire manga while listening to this loop. and every single page of every chapter fits in perfectly. the good times and the bad: this song IS Berserk. it gives me goosebumps
Guts, the manliest man of manliness who doesn't boast about it and keeps humble. With his amazing blade, Dragonslayer, he still continues his journey with his new friends after losing the original Band of the Hawk in a horrific manner. Ah Kentaoru you are awesome for making such an excellent manga. :D
I have a theory. What if Guts' inner self manifests as a wolf not only to symbolise a loner lifestyle, but also because that is the first thing Guts kills after he kills Gambino and sets out on his own? That is quite an important moment for Guts, he lets out that roar because he knows that he is a born killer and there is only one road he can travel down. Just a thought.
***** Always figures guts as someone who has to live, even if anyone else would have layed down to die, be it in a fight or by a cruel fate. He is a survivor and will continue to challenge anything to live on. why? he does not know, he yearns to know and thus he fights on. It was because of this that he found the strength to fight those wolves, to leave the hawks and to fight on after the eclipse. Why is his inner form a wolf? like someone said it is his inner beast, the part of him that only embodies his hate and fear, what he always feared that he was, a madman who only knew how to kill and that was the entierty of his being. Guts fears this beast because of this, he wish to find evidence that he is more than that.
***** have you read the manga? you are right, the Berserker armor manifests as a demonic wolf, his inner self is of a wolf, he hated casca for calling him that, because deep down he knows that he enjoys it, and in the manga he has to deal with that every single time he fights with the armor that gives him the strength to face foes of immeasurable power.
***** Guts lived for gambino, killed for him, did everything he wanted. He was unloved so every praise he got was like sunshine bursting through the clouds. And then this adopted father sold him to be raped and tried to kill him, he just made it out of there killing gambino so he's at the lowest point in his life and then the wolves show up. My theory is that this image sticks with guts and the wolf becomes the vision of a demon in his mind, they come when you are almost lost. This is why his dark side is a wolf, why the berserker armor takes on the shape of a wolf. If he were to die with a behelit on him and he would accept the offer from the godhand this is the shape he would take as a demon.
1113stve 2 things for you: if you search in google, there will be more projects beside the trilogy; and according to what i read (in spanish websites) the manga will continue this month. HOPE IM RIGHT
This song brings back memories from the manga and automatically triggers this magical "sad but happy at the same time"-feeling. Berserk, truly exceptional & unique! 10/10
For me, Vagabond and Berserk will always be the top manga ever, with each one I couldn't stop reading them... maybe 10, 20 or 25 caps per day, I can't imagine a better charachter development, ambient and epicness better than those 2 that I've alredy mentioned... BTW this music is amazing, epic, fantasy and nostalgic, all mixed together...
I agree. If anyone has read the manga, Puck calls him "Gatts" or in the Japanese version, his name is actually spelled out (in English phonetics) as "Gatsu" but the 'U' is silent when pronounced in the actual Japanese language.
True. That's one of the things that makes him such an awesome character. It was the part after the eclipse in the manga where he fights the ghouls with the Skull Knight beside him with one hand and says something along the lines of "fate can go fuck itself, I'll kill them all" that I realized he was the most badass fictional character ever.
This song on loop is exactly what I needed. So beautiful. One of the best shows and probably THE best comic I've ever read. (I'll be able to tell for sure when the comic concludes!) I feel so much sympathy and admiration for the main character. Since catching up to the last installment, I can't help but go back and re read all of my favorite parts.
Frosty is right lol, like dude has been releasing a chapter a year and it'll easily take 100 chapters to wrap up berserk, him, gabe newell and George rr Martin are prob all just sitting around toking and eating cheatos talking about how they'll never end their legacies
The Berserk series has been ongoing for 27 years since it began, I think the berserk series will end at Volume 50. Which I assume that after this arc of the elf island, there will be one more arc after this which will end the series, I can see that when guts see's The elf king, Guts will be set free from the brand of sacrifice for he had for a while. To be able to defeat Griffith and the god hand. Guts cannot defeat them, because darkness cannot win against darkness, especially with the berserker armor which is the representation of darkness. I imagine that guts will receive a new armor, new power that doesn't cause harm to himself like the berserker armor. Guts will transform from darkness to light from the support of the Elf King, to be able to defeat Griffith and the God Hand. Also Kentaro Miura interview in the year 2000. The interviewer ask Kentaro a question and said "Is it even possible that we’ll see a happy ending? And Kentaro said "I’d say it’s possible. I used to have the final moves planned out, but lately I’ve been thinking I’d rather figure them out when I come to it, so now it’s hard to say what could happen. Being the sort of person I am, though, I actually don’t think I could let such a long grim story end with a grim ending - like, say, having him suddenly die. I don’t really like that kind of entertainment. I’ll leave it to my subconscious." Tell me what you think
We need a lot more context set in the story with Guts and Casca. What he will do in facing Griffith. The Apostles are least of his worries. As well as Rickert with Silat and the Kushan. Each individual Apostles agenda as well as Griffith’s in Falconia. Luca and the girls in Falconia. What new allies and abilities will be learned. And so much more. It’s a complicated issue that I am surprised Miura made it so well for so long granted this all seems to be like a lifelong story literally. He is doing well in following his subconscious
I have an important story. One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.
Just finished watching the anime without hearing any spoilers and I am shocked, saddened and angered all at the same time. I cant believe how it ended, I wasn't expecting that kind of end to a truly great anime. This haunting song is gonna stick with me for a while. Now I gotta read to read the manga.to see what happened next!
Betrayal and revenge are major themes in the series. Guts suffered his first betrayal when Gambino sold Guts' body to another soldier for a few coins. Guts is in a quest for revenge after his comrades were betrayed by Griffith and sacrificed by the God Hand.
Thanks man. I listen to this song and I just believe that there are Gods out there. With the manifestation of beauty. This manga/anime has changed my life. I know it's changed many lives as well. Gutt's theme will forever be the essence of strife. These emotions that I feel. They're terrifying yet beautiful. Thank you, again...
Rereading berserk for the 4rth time, and I always come back to this song...this bittersweet feeling, is so overwhelming and soothing. Damn, this is some epic track for such an amazing tale.
I wish we could get another anime to Beserk similar to how Hunter x Hunter got a new one in 2011. Theres just not enough time to fit all of the content into movies.
Am i the only one who often just sit´s for myself in my room just thinking when hearing this song? The only thing that cross my mind is beautiful simply beautiful!
I just watched the anime and movies, I've got to say this has to be one of the greatest stories ever. The characters are so...so real and amazing. I don't have words to describe how epic Guts is, strength of 100-man, heart of a lion and soul of a man. I have to read the manga now, that ending in the anime fucking threw my heart out and raped it in the aorta. And faaaaaaaaaaaawk this music....the feels man..the feels.
"You're going to be all right. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this. Doesn't it? I'm sure you'll overcome this. You'll walk again ... soon."
NocteusLucium and peoplearemessedup. Listening to this song while reading your "conversation" is beautiful. You two have captured the emotions I feel when listening to this song. I almost cried :)...
Listening to this..i now know what made guts a demon-killing-paintaking-berserk-awesome-fighting machine...His latent, innate desire for happiness or love from the 1st chapter you can see what kept him going was his desire to be human,to love and im not talking about twilight love but real hard manly love..and he knows in his heart in order for that flaming love to shine he must extinguish the darkness surrounding it
To think.... this is Guts very soul. Tumultuous, pained, hurt.... but he does have a heart! A soul! He is human and will fight forever to protect that raw humanity.... The looping of his theme only strengthens this essence to me.
I have to say, 'Blood and Guts' is his his new theme song. Absolutely freaking epic song from the movie. The lyrics tell guts' whole story in 4 minutes.
I would definitely read the manga if you want more berserk, the anime pretty much just coveres a small portion of the entire story, and its still (slowly albeit) going.
Guts: the representation and the manifestation of the raw human determination to simply live that can and will not just face gods but bring them to their knees and make them beg to continue existing among humanity, love and hate, victory and despair, perfectly together in a beautiful and brutal existence. Harmony.
This song plays when you realize how much Miura is ''on break''... Please Lord all Mighty come back and show us the beautiful landscapes, nature, world, creatures, UAAAHHHHH
Right??? I mean shit, if your going to make a godlike story. At least keep it going, I mean you don't see one piece taking any breaks. And that show is terrible!!
Just discovered this manga. Watched the 25 anime in 2 days. This music gives me chills. Never exepcted berserk to be so awesome! Luckily I still have plenty of tome to read :)
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings." - Albert Einstein. And for the record, what I've said is no different than what Einstein believed. I have NEVER in my arguments said that God interferes with our actions and fates. I just believe that there are Gods out there with the manifestation of beauty. Both of you need to read more closely.
