Well except Guts was the commander of the shock troups, posted at the front. He said the same to Rickert when he went on his crusade against apostle, he is the vanguard (not the rearguard like Rickert was)
I think the whole “sea god” chapters set the stage for the roles each new main character will have and show the “new world” created by Griffin blending them together is massive and even bigger than all the previous. I mean how small was the world in the black swordsman arc, then get bigger in the GoldenAge arc, then bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and now it’s like full scale all our absolute insane and I cannot wait for this manga to continue! You do an awesome job analyzing this manga bro thank you very much.
I’m addicted to these. Even after reading the entire manga, I’m love this series cause it makes me not just want to reread the manga once more but look through different perspectives and details
As someone who has just recently gotten into berserk these videos have been fantastic to have stumbled into. Thank you so much for having put the time into these!
During the chapter reveal of fantasia where Griffith is monologuing about dreams, I played the berserk soundtrack De Line Soldiers. I watched it perfectly to the crescendo when the double page spread of Fantasia is revealed. It fits perfectly when it starts to get more sinister and matches with the panels of the god hand
(1st thing) welcome back to the series :) . (2nd thing) perhaps another thing in developing this manga is the progression. Berserk (seems to) desire to push boundaries (for the time of release) in terms of narrative and themes. The series began with incredible ideas from the start, and honestly, if you take time to ponder where the series could even go from here -- you may feel disappointed in a seemingly familiar cliche` direction. It's tough because you want to focus on the original idea the series was developed from, and to some extent the series accomplished that, but you also want to continue to create and amaze. If the series ended now and the reader took away their own learned themes and narratives ... everyone would remember the story of the struggler.
I am happy that you like OUR BOII Roderick so much. Also I miss Adon a little too. Been reading through the Golden Age again recently and his appearances always put a smile on my face even if I am really just laughing at him.
@@edwardgaines6561 The joke stands but I would love to see his character filled out. My favorite character is honestly Golden Age Casca and I am so excited to see where we go with her. I am ready to have my heart stomped on. Here's hoping.
I just now finnished your analysis of the millennium arc and i have been watching from episode 1 last few weeks, and i must express my gratitude, it has been awesome. And to now realise you’ve just started on the fantasia arc aswell, True joy! Thank you and Looking forward to the future vids!
I just love these videos so much! All these arcs have been so amazing, Berserk is truly the best. We all just hope to see chapters faster and sadly they take so damn long X_X.
Why do I think I've seen this video before. Is this a re-upload? I can swear I've heard you refer to Elf Island as "loli witch academia" before. Yet this video is dated to today. I am so confused. Also, I'm a really big fan of your work: Keep up the good work!
go easy on Chestnut Puck ya'll. remember he made his first appearance when Puck imagined himself being made into a meal by The Slug Count I always saw Guts always bringing up the rear as a call back to his first job with the Falcons as rear guard. a dangerous a crucial job... to handle any sneaks and attack from the rear... and as a veteran bringing up the rear is always dangerous and crucial. Guts is best suited to this task of the party
10:53 to be fair if you’re gonna do a sea monster, it better be some kind of octopus/kraken, like what other sea monster is there? Krakens are the shit
I think the momentary peace on the island is just that, momentary. It's the calm before the storm; the peace before war. And there will be war. I agree that it's the time between releases that is frustrating people.
Ya know what? I will say, with regard to the Sea God arc, that I really didn't like those pirates. They never felt like a threat , which I'm sure was intended - but that just turns them into a bad joke. They reminded me very much of Team Rocket, who I just don't think fits into this story EDIT: Oh wow, I legitimately didn't know you were going in this direction further into the video
Great job as always! Can't wait to find out what this 'New Beginning" thing is gonna be. Reeeeaaallly hoping it's either a better anime adaptation or more frequent chapter releases. But, who knows...
Since I just caught up to Berserk and didn't suffer through the SEVEN YEARS of the boat, I will share my fears of the Fantasia arc and the delays One of my friends, and I looked into this but haven't confirmed it, is that Miura is going blind or something? Not sure how much I believe that, but if the stories of other mangaka are anything to go by, it's a very health-taxing business. Oda for One Piece getting himself repeatedly sick and having to sometimes miss weeks is but one of them. My biggest fear is Miura wrapping up Berserk in his lifetime. Man is indeed in his 50's and isn't getting any younger as we crawl through months-long gaps in releases. I 100% understand and sympathize with him wanting to be a perfectionist with his series, but imo, there needs to be a cutoff point of actually continuing a story. Scariest thing is it still looks like we're nowhere near an endgame.
Miura will have to make some serious compromises to finish this story, like allowing his assistants to draw large portions of the manga and just overall reducing the level of detail of the manga
Who knew spending time at sea could give everyone such manly voices, even the women are affected. I guess thats what spending 8 years on a ship can do to ya.
what i hate about the pirate is not his personality its that he oesnt fit the timeline and medieval setting of berserk i mean zondark and the snake apostle and adan and even wyland werent the smartest but they fit right in i mean in those times you can imagine being uneducated dumb brutes who relied only on strength kinda of like conan the barbarian but a pirate jack sparrow type is completely out of place adn ye the order they walked in fits perfectly and it def was on purpose
As someone who binge read all of Berserk over the course of a week (or so) about a year ago I absolutely HATED the Sea God Arc. That arc was the only time that actually felt like filler to me when reading Berserk. The stupid pirate captain became stale during his first appearance and I had absolutely no reason to care about the Sea God. Its actually crazy how much my opinion shifted of Berserk during the Sea God arc. I went from loving every moment of it to straight-up disliking it and wanting to just finish it and move on with my life. Honestly the only good parts of Fantasia were the Griffith/Rickert parts. Admittedly I do believe that Berserk started going downhill after the Conviction Arc (I don't like Schierke and Casca remains a potato for far so long that it starts dragging on.) but the drop in quality from Millenium Falcon to Fantasia was by far the most massive out of any in the series.
Do you think that Casca will be the leader of the new band of the Hawk instead of Guts? It will be nothing short of poetic if the only two members of the old band of hot take down the new pretender of the band. After all she was the original leader after Griffith and Gus never wanted to be the leader
