INGREDIENTS for the Berta Jay's
BERTA'S AMAZING BEANS
-----------------------------------------------------
1. Into a large pot, PUT:
a. 2 cups of water
b. 1 teaspoon of vegetable broth powder (I use Seitenbacher)
2. Cook over a medium heat a, covered and bring to the boil.
3. When it boils, ADD:
a. 1/2 medium onion - chopped (equals ½ cup of onion)
b. 1 stalk of celery - chopped
4. COOK covered for 5-6 minutes to soften these 2 veggies.
5. ADD:
a. 1 teaspoon parsely flakes
b. 1/2 teaspoon Organic No-salt seasoning (from COSCO or your fave seasoning)
c. 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
d. 1/4 teaspoon salt - Celtic, Himalayan or other Sea salt
e. 1/2 cup shredded carrots
f. 3 cans of beans, drained and rinsed (I used black, kidney and black-eyed peas)
6. STIR TOGETHER WELL and cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes.
7. You're done...ENJOY!

My objective for this channel is to share with others what I have learned over the last 30+ years about living and eating healthier. I share my knowledge with my small circle of friends all the time. I am not a doctor, nor do I hold any type of medical degree, but I believe that my tried experiences may help someone else.
For over 30 years I have used every diet imaginable to lose weight, but I confess that I am now at home using the vegan lifestyle. I want to share what I have learned about eating and enjoying food. And, since I am still learning how to be more consistent with this lifestyle, I have decided to eat more healthily, realizing the weight will come off eventually. Though I have not reached my goal weight, I know that sharing with other people in front of a camera with help me to stay on course.
I have, with the help of my husband of 37 years, raised 3 grown children. I will also share some cooking shortcuts as well as some natural formulas I have used and still use for everyday problems.

I started using that broth powder because of your recommendation a long time ago. Lasts a long time and is a great staple to have in the kitchen!

I appreciate what you said about trying new foods as an adult. You're right, we sometimes need to give our tastebuds several chances to develop a taste for something new. And it's always good to broaden our food horizons since most of us eat the same few foods over and over. ~Michele

This looks so delicious to me. I *love* beans of all kinds. I just had a black bean salad for lunch. I think you could easily add some vinegar, water, spices and turn some of your leftovers into pickled bean salad.

Elyse, I must confess that many years ago, I prayed and asked the Lord to help me be more like Him in this world; to be the same at home as I am at church, in the community and on the computer. As I read your comment, I feel like He is answering that prayer. My joy is to help others eat better and enjoy it. I believe in doing so, I am fulfilling God's purpose for my life. You're so welcome, Susan. These beans l make all the time. Keep this in mind: use any kind of beans you have at the time. In my fridge right now is a mixture of black-eyed peas and kidney beans. I love this recipe.

Belidoria, you are looking at many of my videos. I appreciate that. These beans are so very good. Just remember that you can use any beans you like. I chose the ones l did because they're my favorites. You choose your favorites, as well.

Oh, absolutely! Ever hear of "rice and beans?" It's a very popular dish in the Caribbean. You could also put it on top of potatoes, too.

I was wondering if I can use the No Chicken bouillon cubes instead of the powder? Or the Better than Bouillon base ?

Stephanie, I know that both of those products have more sodium than I want to consume. If sodium is NOT an issue for you...go ahead and use it. You just need a tasty base for your beans. You decide. Thanks for your question. I hope I answered it okay 🤔...if not, please ask another one 😊

The thing I like about the powder is that you can use more water per teaspoon and you can still get a good taste...I usually use 1½-2 cups of water per teaspoon. Doing that will lower the sodium. Quick question: Are you binge watching me? Just curious; 🤔 seems you might be. If so, I am so thankful. The more people I can help the more I like it. Thanks for watching 🤓

I eat these beans (1 cup at a time) rather quickly; however, l believe they should freeze okay though l am not sure. I will try to freeze some then let you know. Thanks for your comment.
