I just picked up this 7' Medium/Fast rod yesterday. I'm going to pair it up with Penn Battle III DX 4000 (on the way). It felt really good in my hands at the store and your video confirmed I made the right purchase. Although 50+, I'm new to fishing and this is my first rod ever. Appreciate anglers like you putting out informative contents for us wanting to take up the sport!

Hell yeah man, these rods are the best quality for your money on the market. That being said they aren't idiot-proof and I still managed to break mine whiles out barracuda fishing.

Hey man, great review! Shout out from Ottawa Ontario Canada. Nice production too. I just grabbed a PS66MLF2 - 198.12 x 7.62 x 7.6 Classic Black Pearl Size 6’6" Mlf2. I'm buying blind but I hope it's a good choice. I got an IRT 400DD reel that came in recently that I haven't even spooled, but I think that it might be a bit too much reel for the the rod I bought now. Needless to say, I do fresh water fishing for the usual suspects; bass, perch, etc... But the idea was to have a little bit of a heavier set to act as a secondary trolling line off the 10ft Jon for pike and musky and use the live action lighter set up for casting out and "hunting". lol Anyway, great video. Subscribed! Looking forward to more insight. Peace. Al

@ken-mfishing4740

I would actually recommend Daiwa reels over Shimano. For example the Daiwa Revros only comes in at $50 but packs 26lbs of drag in the 4000 size and is straight butteerrrrr.

@@joelburchett5476 I have a 7'1" M Mojo Bass and a 6'6" ML Avid X. While these are two different rod styles with different sizes, I much prefer the ML for bass. I feel the M is too stiff and too powerful. As soon as I hook a fish on the M Mojo Bass the fight is over. I feel like I overpower the fish way too easily. With the ML Avid X I feel that I don't overpower the fish and I'm not overpowered either. I have a review of the Mojo on my channel and just filmed a review of the Avid X which will be published in the future.

What is the difference between the saltwater and normal version?
@ken-mfishing4740
@ken-mfishing4740 3 года назад
The saltwater version has a few "added components" like the metal of the guides are different but in all honesty its just a way to throw an extra $40-$50 on the price tag. The normal navy blue triumph works perfectly fine for the salt.

If you mean for jigging or deep reef fishing, sure. I advise getting a 7' or 7' 6" MH or H version of the rod. Anything longer will be a hassle moving around the boat and anything lighter isn't going to have enough backbone against offshore fish.
