Just got one of these and i will tell younit is by far the best rod ive ever own. Took it strate to a quarry and brougt three nice large mouth bass. Very impressive response and by far the smoothest guides ever made. Now my #1 rod.
I have 2 cracked guides & 4 missing guide inserts on my 7' Spinning Triumph. It's 2 y/o has caught 3 specks under 16" in that time. Warranty call to St. Croix & it will be $25 shipping for them to look and get me an estimate. My 25 yr old 7' Uglystick and 7'6" Falcon Lowrider are still rock solid. St. Croix can do better.
Your ugly stick is like wearing 5 condoms though. Zero sensitivity. The St Croix waxes your ugly stik any day. The guides being an issue must be something you did or a single defective rod. I've never seen that complaint.
