Just started looking into 3D printers. Your videos are excellent. I have decided to go with the MP Select Mini... I may have lots of questions for you!! Thank you for these great video reviews.
Enjoy. Lots of videos about that printer. Make sure you check out my video about unplugging jams. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tavFPJV0JnM.html
This printer and the Ender 3 Pro you assembled are the two I am thinking about getting. The tutorial helps as you show how to use the MatterHackers program which I am not familiar with. This is all new to me so I am learning a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Wham Bam makes a nice build surface for the Mini Delta. I had one and loved it, gave it to my nephew for him to start 3D Printing. I have owned both of these printers, and think you hit it right on target. I upgraded to the Anycubic Kossel Delta Plus with linear rails. The Monoprice wikis are indispensable for anyone that owns either of these printers. Great video!

Bought mine delta on amazon sale. It was cheaper than select so I gave it a try. No flaws out of the box. Over 10 different models been printed the first day and zero fails. Some print quality imperfections were solved by tweaking Cura setup. I think if copy-pasting G code in slicer is an issue for you, than you are not ready yet)
Thanks for sharing. I love the concept behind the Delta printers. Unfortunately my experience with the Monoprice Mini Delta has been poor. I have extensively experimented with slicer gcode setup options, z height, etc and different print bed materials. Still cannot get my prints to consistently stick to the print bed without a large raft.
I must have been one of the lucky ones. My mini delta worked pretty much right out of the box. Only used hairspray to get prints to stick and it has been pretty wonderful - up until the mini SD card slot came loose and stopped taking cards properly... AND my micro USB slot also seems to have come loose and is not picking up wires. So I have a nice paperweight I need to troubleshoot. Edit: After watching more of the video - I'm not sure how your delta sucks so hard. Mine never got results that bad, haha.
Glad to hear you had a good experience. Unfortunately I think the quality control on the Malyan rebranded printers sold by Monoprice is hit and miss. This is why your connectors came loose. To repair the connector you need to take the bottom off the printer held on with screws and then tighten the screws holding the board with the connectors.
I think it’s important to note the notorious flaw of the MP Select Mini: the bed wiring. Because of the way it’s routed underneath the build plate and into the body, it suffers a lot of stress and will eventually fail. It’s not a matter of if, but when. You can probably get by for a few weeks or months, but if you’re not proactive about rerouting the wires you’re going to end up having to fix and/or replace them. That said I still absolutely love the MPSM and would recommend it in a heartbeat, you just have to know what to look out for.

Select mini pro(or v3) has auto bed leveling, touch screen and removal bed (not flexible but you can remove it). Very easy to use. Also supports very basic wi-fi support.
Looks like and excellent upgrade from v2. I do believe the price is a bit more. At the v3 price you have to consider an Ender 3 pro which has a much larger print volume if you are comfortable with some assembly.
I have a MP Mini Delta, and yeah, I wouldn't suggest it for a first printer. But in the end, with a few mods, it's a great little printer. I set up a Raspberry Pi 3b+ with OctoPi and no longer have to do the Micro SD sneaker-net. I tried direct connection but not always stayed connected through a whole print. Plus it also made my notebook stuck to the printer often for hours, and I like to use it for other things too. Both printers have a web interface, but the connection is very slow, like POTS slow. Octoprint's interface is much faster and much more complete. I never even touch the controls on the printer anymore.
Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear it is working well for you. For me it was just too much work for a printer at that price point. Since I have multiple 3d printers, yes that is a luxury, I have the Mini Delta sitting under the desk.
Nice video for an introduction, one criticism is that you don't mention about tethered mode requiring that you keep the computer controlling the printer on and connected to the printer during the entire print, some of which can take many hours. For people starting out this is an important thing to know if they want to use the computer for other tasks while printing.
I got lucky and configure everything on my laptop by itself and was printing on this used mp mini v2 i just got and I've never had one before so im very happy right now liking this 3d hobby it goes perfectly with my fpv hobby going to upgrade for flex tpu filaments 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😉😉😉😉
Great review, very useful info for someone like me thinking of getting started. Can you use matter control to write to an sd card for untethered printing? I'm also wondering if you can use flex filament with the "cartesian " one.
I love microstepping "live" on Matter Control to get bed leveling just right. Can that be done on a delta style printer? Also, (maybe a vid topic) Thoughts on Mac vs PC for 3D printing. I'm a Mac guy for years but I was thinking of buying a PC just to have and use for my printers. Thanks again for another great vid!
I have not tried it but I do not see why not. Mac vs PC is an interesting topic. I am a Mac guy but have purchase a windows laptop just to look into this issue.
I have the Mini Delta, I found set up Gcode at "Barely Making It' on RU-vid, it works great. I am looking to also purchase the Select Mini to get a larger build base. Thanks for this video. Absolutely great information on both printers, Matter Control and Cura.
@@MakeWithTech I can't say how exciting it is to be making things. It feels like when I bought my first computer many years ago and brought it home to see what it could do. Indeed, let's continue to learn together. Thank you for your channel.

The MP Mini Delta does have a M851 command but it is usually not used and therefore set at 0.0 The MPMD's firmware has a custom G29 command with an offset parameter. G29 P[mesh] Z[offset] For example: G29 P5 Z0.38 ; 5×5 matrix (not actually 25 probe points due to the bed not being square) with 0.38mm offset A little more info can be found at mpminidelta.com/g29
On the delta mini the z offset is a parameter on the G29 command. G29 ; 3 point = 3 corners (center point using calculation) - DOUBLE TAP G29 P1 ; 3 point = 3 corners (center point using calculation) - DOUBLE TAP G29 P2 ; 4 point = 3 corners + center (real center) - DOUBLE TAP G29 P3 ; 3×3 matrix - DOUBLE TAP G29 P4 ; 4×4 matrix - DOUBLE TAP G29 P5 ; 5×5 matrix - DOUBLE TAP G29 P6 ; 6×6 matrix - DOUBLE TAP G29 C[offset] ; offset option to fine tune center height. Does not apply to P3, P4, P5, or P6 G29 Z[offset] ; matrix/mesh offset G29 P[mesh] Z[offset] ; Parameters may be combined G29 Z[offset] P[mesh] = G29 P[mesh] Z[offset] ; Parameter order does not matter This is from the unofficial wiki located here. www.mpminidelta.com/g29

Hi .y download the app,and instaled. But when y try to select the printer,a warning advice of "printer select not valid" appears. My printer is a Monoprice select mini pro.Can you help me,?thanks in advance and excuse my english,it's not my language.Osvaldo
I just found your channel today and am very impressed. I am looking for my first printer under $500. Considering Artillery Genius and the X1. Which is better not considering print size and printed parts on the Genius? Lastly is there a printer out there with direct drive and linear rails under $500 or is linear over rated?
Shalom! Thank you very much for the video. It's unbelievable to be able to get actual 50-micron precision at this cost. Too bad it turns twice the price to order it to Israel, so it turns out to be cheaper to take Creality Ender 3 pro\ Tarantula pro or Anycubic I3 MEGA =\
Recent version of macOS treat all software that is not from the app store as suspect. Just go into system preferences, security and privacy, and on the first tab on the bottom next to the MatterControl select allow.
