BEST 1.20 CREEPER FARM TUTORIAL in Minecraft Bedrock (MCPE/Xbox/PS/Switch/PC)
This creeper farm is simple and efficient. It allows you to easily get a lot of gunpowder and xp. The farm works on 1.20 and on all platforms of Minecraft Bedrock whether you play on mobile, console, or PC. Please like, comment, subscribe, and check out my other Minecraft videos! Materials list:
2 chests
1 hopper
1 rail
1 minecart with hopper
4 redstone torches
4 pistons
4 observers
3 glass blocks
1 lever
1 trident (The trident can have any level of durability because it will not break in the farm)
4 hay bales
5 torches
2 water buckets
2 stacks and 2 ladders (1 stack = 64, so you need 130 ladders total )
1 stack and 37 stairs
30 stacks and 1 wooden trap doors
About 11.5 stacks of buttons
About 32 stacks of any slabs
About 82 stacks of any solid blocks (Examples: Smooth stone or cobblestone)

@@thomasstowe1521 You likely misaligned the buttons and top trap doors. Every block that doesn't have a button on top of it, must have a trap door on the bottom of the block on top of it. This works because creepers are short enough to spawn under trap doors, while the other mobs aren't. Unfortunately, this will take you some time to fix.

The trapdoors weren’t the thing that took the longest to get for me. 10 min with mega spruce and an efficiency 5 netherite axe was all I needed. The real struggle I had was the 3 shulkers of stone for the building blocks. I don’t have a beacon yet so it took like an hour and a half

Just finished this today! Made it almost exactly as in the video, only a few cosmetic changes on the trident killer floor and chest area. Tested it for 5 minutes and got 2 stacks of gunpowder. Gonna need more chests as I usually afk over night. Working perfectly, thanks Jason! Gonna make ur bonemeal farm now!

I don’t know what I’m doing differently than you. Other than I don’t turn my monitor off. I’ve built JC’s Iron farm, double nether portal gold farm, wool farm, kelp farm, sugar cane zero tick, drowned farm, bonemeal farm, and then the other day, this creeper farm. I had two full double chest of gunpowder in the morning. Could probably add a 3rd double chest. For the other farms I afk at them fairly often. Usually the gold or iron. I’ve never had a problem with any of them… except the bonemeal farm, which is prone to breaking. Gotta keep checking in on it.

If you have the recourses I highly recommend using the smooth stone blocks he used or anything else with a bold outline. It makes it way easier to count every other block for your buttons/trapdoors. Im halfway through building this with cobblestone and regret not taking the time to get a better block for counting

This works super well! It took a long time to build the trap doors and button layers but it was definitely worth it! I went AFK for about 20 minutes and came back to 20 stacks of gunpowder. Great tutorial i recommend the build!

Thanks JC! Great video as always. Built on survival over ocean, it was painful to build solo but it works fantastic and totally worth the hours. Its producing between 3.5-4 stacks in 5 minutes on hard difficulty 👍🏽🤗 (6 layers as in the video & holding looting III sword)

Yeah definitely does for me, I now realise it's a little slower sometimes though. Middle of ocean, hard difficulty and looting III sword ☺️ Seems to be variable from the comments I've read, maybe something to do with the area. I have too much gunpowder now that my sugarcane farm can't keep up 🤣 totally worth the build!

Awesome farm I built it in a few hours on bedrock 1.20 over an ocean. It is a painful process but it’s worth it in the end if you follow each step. I recommend having all the materials gathered beforehand as this will speed up the building process, if you have access to shulker boxes these are extremely helpful. I also recommend lighting up the top of the 6th creeper spawn layer before building the roof so that when you go to place your trapdoors on the 6th creeper spawn layer you don’t have to clear mobs and light it up to do so. It worked really well, very helpful for getting level 30 and getting a lot of xp fast. If you need a creeper farm or xp farm I would definitely recommend!

I’m assuming it’s because you missed a trap door or slab so check if there is even one missing bc that will allow other mobs to spawn

Another way to prevent fall damage is to set up some signs and a layer of water to break their fall before getting to the kill chamber (creepers kept landing and dying on the piston)

Thanks for the tip, I used open fence gates instead of signs and it works great. This has the added benefit that fence gates at ‘head’ level means the mobs won’t be able to ‘see’ you. Just an extra layer of protection in case your trap door opens.

@@prod.colewallner I took out all 4 water sources and only added one so it ‘flows’ to the corner. I still get one that floats every now and then but he bobs down fairly quickly and doesn’t slow up rates. Hope that makes sense.

@@kiwi4141 Just don’t add the trapdoors on the ceiling of each layer, the trapdoors are there because only creepers can spawn under trapdoors so removing them allows skeletons, zombies, and the occasional drowned or witch to spawn

Inquiry: I see you are using buttons as an anti-spider measure, but I have noticed a lot of comments over the past year suggesting that buttons don’t work anymore and that fence posts are needed instead. So is there a reason you specifically use buttons? Or can fence posts work just as well? Like can creepers actually spawn on a button block? Cause if they can it would increase the efficiency of the farm over those that use fence posts.

Actually not exactly to spec. I added to the collection platform for room for ender chest and a fishing pool and protection from phantoms so I can leave myself there for extended periods.

I just tested this in creative where I put creepers on a platform high up where the only way to get around is to walk across a gap. When there were buttons in the gaps, they stood on their blocks and didn't fall through the gaps. As soon as I replaced the buttons with open trapdoors, they started walking across them and falling off the platform. So, if I were you, I would use trapdoors instead of buttons.

Note: as soon as 1.21 comes out, switch to peacful and replace all of the buttons with slabs or else the farm wont work because spiders will spawn

Thanks for another great farm, @JC_Playz! For anyone wondering, the farm works perfectly as of 24 April 2024. I am getting around 15 stacks of gunpowder per hour with a looting 3 sword. (I did not clear out any caves below me, so this might affect my numbers. Even without doing that, I feel like this is a terrific afk farm.)

Personally I don't think it would be necessary to extend the farm because mobs usually stop spawning past a certain distance and mob limits may also result in efficiency of any new tier dropping off as you add more. If you did then yes extending the roof should be sufficient but I'd maybe consider putting other farms around the creeper farm near the afk spot so you can get more out of your time

@@Rider077_ you'd want farms where you wouldn't have to go far from the gunpowder farm but also wouldn't affect the spawn rate, this is a pretty average exp grinder and gunpowder is quite an obscure thing to need imo so I'd put relatively obscure farms with it too. I'm not sure if passive mobs like cows/sheep/chickens affect spawn rate of creepers but farms of those could be a possible option, things like a pumpkin/melon farm would definitely work. A good but difficult option might also be a flying machine bamboo/sugarcane farm.

@@Rider077_ yes that's probably best, I'd generally recommend grouping a few farms together that don't affect the efficiency of any farms around it, so maybe do a similar thing with your trident farm. Some farms are also best as standalone farms like a gold farm but the majority work with other farms.

Same I just finished a skeleton farm for bonemeal for paper so I needed the gunpowder haven’t fished but I hope I can finish it quickly

@@JacobMorales-xg8bb Just know that you shouldn't be too picky with blocks like I was. Once I started on the build, I HAD to go through with Tuff and Deepslate stuff 😂.

dang man thanks for the tutorial- it turns out to be REAL GOOD, I added 1 extra layer thus it now has 7 layers and I didn't put the trapdoors under that wide roof and it is now working as both creeper and other mobs(zombie, skeleton, etc) farm-- worth to build indeed

Just built the farm and it still works. Used deepslate blocks, stairs and slabs. Spruce buttons and trapdoors. Game difficulty hard with simulation 12 chunks. Works great ^.^

It's taken me literally all day because I had to bridge in the end looking for wings to run out of blocks just for then my friend to tell me he has a set I can borrow for the build so that resulted in an addition 4 hours because I also built a sugar cane farm I didn't have resources for but worth it none the less

Hey bud love your videos and you're my go to bedrock fatm assistant. One thing I'm going to say is you might want to add scaffolding to the list of materials for ease of access to the layers in creative, also when putting down the floor level trap doors on each layer, leave them closed until you have both the ceiling and floor layers done for less falling.

Can this farm be incased in tinted glass instead of having the large roof? Or would that cause spiders to spawn in? Had a previous farm that had spiders spawing in even though I "spawn proofed" against them.

If you make it more than 6 layers will it be more efficient? Or is 6 layers the max distance for mobs to even spawn that far away from you?

Just finished building, works rather well but during the process I started questioning why I started in the first place. Especially because nothing really spawns until the roof goes on even at night. Great build (worth the deforestation)

You can add more layers but you must increase your simulation disance and be much further from the farm.

doesn’t matter, bedrock mob cap is super low so eventually going up higher won’t do anything
