What about the LG 27inch MiniLed 4k 144hz with 1560zones. Do you know anything about this one? It's listed on displayninja for Q3 2023. I'm really waiting for it
I understand that people may need AG coatings, some AG coatings are light and not too bad. But what I simply can't understand why there's a lack of choice, absolute 0 friggin choice. A good glossy finish with a decent polarizer is able to block out glare and keep reflections somewhat muted, it is 100% a viable option, people do a ton of productivity on glossy Apple displays and all of em say that it helps em color grade well, I use an iPad to edit photos and the glossy nature helps even in a well lit room. I understand matte AG coatings are 100% need for office environments, but why screw over the majority of people that have PCs at home. It's unbelievable. Use a glossy IPS screen at 120 nits in a moderately lit room and it deadass feels like OLED lite 🤣(my 2018 iPad pro) Edit: it's possible to keep the glossy finish and nice blacks while having an AG treatment by having a Lazer etched laminated treatment like that on the 512GB Steam Deck and some drawing tablets. It's such an awesome have your cake and eat it too solution, AND LITERALLY 0 MONITOR MANUFACTURERS ON THE PLANET ARE USING IT☠️☠️☠️☠️
I can't agree more with you than I already do. The monitor space is fucked in general. It's like no one knows what to do: curved screens on small sizes when nobody wants them, weird ass resolution choices, everyone praises 16:10 and nobody makes 16:10... it's hell.
Can you do a review of the aoc q27g3xmn? Its the cheapest mini-led monitor ive ever seen at 280 buckeroonies and im really curious about its performance. I cant reallh find any in depth reviews on this badboi and i feel like youd do an awesome job breaking it down
@thedisplayguy you might want to pull this video as you have data that is wrong at 5:15 you are including data from your Corsair Xeneon Flex video and not the KTC M27T20.
Actual user update: HDR for games? Awesome HDR for movies/tv? Terrible, don't even fucking bother. Idk why it's like that, but it just is, hdr movies are a total mess on windows and that doesn't exclude this display
Likely has to do with the low end of the EOTF curve as he mentioned in the video. I own one of these and, like you said, games look incredible, but movies (which often take place in dimly lit rooms, forests, just moody areas in general, have a LOT going on in HDR at that end of the curve. And it all gets crushed together) are a real mixed bag. Watching House of Dragons or Acolyte in HDR on this monitor? Good luck. Watching Furiosa? Actually really spectacular besides the one night time scene at Gastown.
I bought this display last week. I would never had known about it if you hadn't covered it. An amazing deal, and it's seriously the best monitor I've ever owned. $380 USD. Thanks for the most detailed review of it on RU-vid.
How bad is ghosting and is HDR usable? I‘ve got an RTX 4080 and I’m looking into playing Horizon Forbidden West as well as The Last of Us Remastered and Cyberpunk with Raytracing in Full Details and HDR and bad ghosting and/or bad HDR Colors could be a dealbreaker for me
@@beaterudolf1362 HDR looks phenomenal. I will say everything hinges on installing the firmware update. The only negative I've seen is the local dimming causes a halo effect in HDR when the background is very dark - I actually think it looks cool, it doesn't bother me at all. And no screen burn-in. I never noticed any ghosting once the firmware was updated - I did before I updated it. Firmware update is a game changer, it also always HDR with local dimming while using adaptive sync.
@@gargamel314 Great to hear that. Which firmware version should I choose once i update it, US or EU? Other comparable mini led monitors like the AOC Q27G3XMN seem to sometimes have washed out hdr colors, is that the case here too?
KTC is the actual manufacturer of CM monitors, however this specific one is KTC only, because it has a different panel. This has VA, while CM version has IPS.
I wonder if you've encountered any flickering while running something with darker scenes with LD set to STANDARD and HDR OFF (SDR)? Seemingly the LD gets challenged this way and algorithm can't figure out the correct brightness.
Bought this for $300 and very happy with it. I play single player ps5 games and use it for work. The hdr performance is impressive. The kvm and usb c charging are nice addons. Would love to see it curved and glossy too.
I don't get why so many reviewers hate anti-glare finishes on screens so much, the average person won't notice the slight loss in picture quality and will appreciate the reduced intensity of glares. I have both a glossy and matte finish monitor and I greatly prefer the matte finish because I don't have to angle my screen away from any and all light sources to actually see what's going on. I just picked this monitor up and am very happy with it, the only issue I'm facing is coming from a curved monitor the screen looks distorted at the edges, lol.
To correct you: It's not mini LED that causes poor viewing angles but the VA panel. Mini LED backlight technology is superior to LCD and LED and doesn't really have any drawbacks. Mini LED IPS HDR1000 will soon be the new standard for all around desktop monitor while OLED will remain aimed towards gaming.
It's 300 dollars on amazon at the moment... ordered one a week ago. If you aren't a online competitive focused gamer it seems like a great deal overall.
I’ve got a x27q and I’m starting to notice it’s a little blurry and the colors/contrast are kind of lacking compared to a Uperfect portable display I picked up. Was this a worthy upgrade?!
@@PHOBIAx57x Definitely in terms of brightness and color reproduction. Its far from perfect though with a lot more minor issues than the x27q such as wonky color acuracy with local dimming turned on. When it comes to HDR though the experience is a lot better but for competitive games I'd probably pick the x27q for its better responsiveness. The x27q is the more "finished product" but the M27T20 is sort of like permanently beta testing a superb monitor which has a few issues. If you dont want to worry about quality control wait for the next generation of cheap mini-LED displays.
I sent mine back because the latest firmware the screen goes black when using HDR. You have to constantly turn it on and off when opening and closing games or even alt tabbing and the process to reboot monitor can take a while.
@@frdsg8350 sorry to hear that, mine came with the 1st firmware update and the only problem i have is that the display is dim when you first power on and you have to adjust it by one. So far it is very bright and colors seem good although i am no expert.
you should really review the AOC Q27G3XMN. i heard the colors are better than the ktc mini led and also i see the aoc at 280$ so this could be the best bang for buck mini led monitor.
Just ordered it, sad there isnt any reviews but I'm excited to see how it looks. prob gonna be better than my g5 no matter what but I'm def worried ill get a dud. On reddit people seem very split on it, half of the people saying that its the worse monitor they've used and other saying its the best. I do find the price range both amazingly low and almost too good to be true. so we'll see
@@StormyMainShorts it's gonna be fine bro. Make sure to get updated firmware if your monitor comes with old one. Old one can't do local Dimming and VRR at same time cuz of a bug
What about the bug of not being able to use VRR with Hdr on?I wanted to buy this but online users are saying they emailed KTC about the vrr bug and it hasn't been fixed yet,if people are willing to spend 500 on a non vrr monitor in 2023 just because it has a cheap 512 FALD zones and the mini led tag on it,then idk
yeah it's a bummer but if you go back it is at the top of the 165hz pack while the 240hz are at the very top which is a very big difference. This is definitely a monitor for me though and I plan to get it.
@@Thiloyeah fair. But for me it's the price point that makes the haloing not a major downside. Unlike other mini-led or OLEDs in the EU, they are not marked up in price by 30-40%. At 500 euro, the drawbacks are negligible imo.
@@PaperReaper Thats a tough call and dependent on many things e.g. what you already have. For me it's an okay offer, especially as a second rig. So I'm certain it has its niche, but you can get an OLED without this particular issue and the benefit of best contrast ratio and even higher fps and color accuracy for around 250 bugs more nowadays.
This monitor in ADS pro would completely annihilate everything, ADS Pro is just way ahead IPS and now with the ADS PRO it will likely be brighter (more light pass-trough), contrast of VA but IPS response times + wide viewing angles and probably even higher hz since BOE already shown a 576hz 4k panel and 288hz 8k at like 2022 if I'm not mistaken...
dont buy, in every sponsored review is presented as a good deal but firmware is really a mess. Crushed blacks, inverse bloom, the worst Vrr and motion handling i have ever seen, worse than a 60hz monitor and tech support is basically non existant. This is basically a cheap va panel cobbled toghter with a custom backlight and a buggy semi functional firmware
This commenter is a load of BS. When researching this monitor, I found his comments both on RU-vid and reddit, and basically nothing that he says is true. This dude is just salty despite not updating the firmware. As long as you update it, this monitor delivers an amazing experience.
doubt it will go down, this is a pretty awesome price for what your getting. I've got the cooler master version of this which is the exact same panel, they buy it and rebrand it from ktc. It's awesome though well worth the money. HDR looks amazing.
dude at this point just accept you're too poor for a decent screen. Screens like this used to cost $1500 easily. Any decent screen will cost you anything between 500 and 800$. if you're still on 1080p you don't even really need a good screen: 27" is too big for 1080p and 1080p in general is a surpassed resolution.
@@franda777 or you have an old low end gpu, which then means you really want a cheap 24" 1080p screen and there's plenty good ones in the $200-300 range - so the problem solves itself :'D Looking for 1440p 27" without at least $500 is a bad idea
