RU-vid still has compression even in 4K is less than 8K. For original quality we recommend exam the footages directly inside your Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest 3. We provided BOTH spatial video and 180 immersive video for download. Download links are in here: www.patreon.com/HughHouFilm - After watching in HMD, comment and let us know what you think. The Spatial Video is pretty good 👍🏻
As a VR developer, I enjoy comparisons like this. I’ve been seriously considering getting into 3D 180 content creation. Really looking to finally upgrade my VuzeXR.
_"Mystery camera, soon to replace the Evo"_ This intrigued me more that anything else in the video! Will Insta360 finally return to fill the gap in the market!?? 🤔
Interested to see what improvements Apple will bring with the iPhone 16 Pro in terms on 3D ‘spatial’ capture. I hope 🤞 it will be the best point an shoot 3D Camera we have seen so far, challenged only by professional VR180 rigs. We live in hope though eh?
I think that unless that add two identical lenses at 60-65 mm separation, it’s still going to be whelming. I have tried watching spatial videos from my 15 pro on my quest 3, and by far the most annoying thing is that one eye is noticeably more blurry. IMO they should have two 8k60fps capable ultrawide lenses 60 mm apart, with the 2nd lens at the bottom of the phone. 4k is too blurry at 180, though if they want to keep their smaller spatial video fob window I guess it’s ok.
What I really like is the fact that I can look this video not only on quest but also flat on my Apple TV. Great job with framing. But sadly I'm waiting for an VR 180 3D solution for my APSC Sony Camera. I know, quality isn't as nice than with Canon 8K but the versatility would be nice not to carry x cameras with me
Awesome! Thank you! I believe converter from third party is coming as now Canon open the RF ecosystem for third party lens maker (also very recent news). So just give sometime for lens makers to catch up. This lens is still very very new with very limited stocks.
@@hughhou will there be an video on your channel if that happens? I know it makes almost no sense because the lense will be more expensive than my camera (bought used) but my decision will be the lens with adapter on my Sony or a used Insta360 Pro to start with VR Content. It's an expensive hobby and I wouldn't generate any money out of it
I'm very appreciative of the content and information you and your channel provide, but tbh, the dark graining noisy video was hard to watch right after watching a normal well lite 4k video on another channel. Can't wait till these camera/lenses gets better at this.
@@hughhou I wonder if you'd be able to take two VR180 cameras and stitch them together to create a 3D360 Vid. Obviously the depth at the sides would look a bit wack but curious how well it would work.
Great insight as always, thank you! Not much difference in quality between the R7 and the R5C set ups. I'm a beginner with an Insta360 X4. Looking to up my game and invest into a higher quality system. Was looking at the R5C kit but this R7 set up seems just as good for about half the price.
Not for R7 yet as it’s so news. But we are testing and filmmaking an underwater house for R5C and the old modified Dual Fish as we speak and more underwater related sample coming right up very soon
Because Teche price is above them all (beside R5C). So Teche and Kandao VR180 are more a professional level VR180 camera. But I should compare it as well in our next video
You are the best! I love all the production stuff, but as a pro editor in really interested in post updates as well! Any news on the new Davinci immersive video workflow Apple hinted at?
Hi Hugh :) you said you will followup on the problems you mentioned in the Kandao Qoocam 3 a month ago. Just wanted to know if and how far they solved it or if you have some long term experiences for us? This is especisally important for Kandao since they are not very fast in Updates in the consumer market due to less customers than insta360 so I need to know if I can rely on them fixing stuff or not. Btw: How long does it last outside without overheating?
This video is 29.94fps (30fps). But it can shoot 4K in 60fps with lesser quality. We recommand to shoot in 30fps as 4K Fine mode is a 7K super sample mode so the quality is close to R5C.
Wow far better specs and no fan? Sounds like a 20kg size just to enable enough cooling? 😅 More expensive than Pro 2 or than Titan? Just give me a hint in what price range we are moving here :D I really would love something more run and gunnable than the Pro 2 that still can capture 3D or something better with the same form factor :) (Anyway I am really excited even if it is too expensive for me ^^)
More then Titan. Not bigger tho as there is CNC heat dissipation does not need fans - just very expensive material instead of plastic like Titan or Pro 2.
I have a tutorial here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BHtKOxGEiAw.htmlsi=PijWdLkYFm_MWIkN - but RU-vid allow me to upload just regular 3D SBS video not spatial video but I can allow people download my spatial video and watch it ONLY on Vision Pro - link in the descrption BTW, and it is free. Take a look the quality is pretty amazing.
@hugh hou oh no... very expensive means 20-30k€ or more? I have dreamed of an Insta360 Pro 2 Rework without fan, smaller, 11k or so and better low light performance. 😅 Or at least in that price range ^^
It’s 3D 360 - way higher specs than Pro 2 with RAW capture, 16 stop Dynamic Range, no fan, professional grade, but it’s more* in price. You will hear in here soon. Not release yet.
It would be really interesting to see a comparison between the R5C+RF5.2 and R7+RFS3.9 with both source videos being enhanced with tools like Topaz and the 4K from the R7 upscaled to 8K. We use Topaz with R5C 8K material to get an acceptable quality and detail not using any filters from the EOS Utility software, which are really crap.
This one does not have any enhancement but yes, I will show the enhancement in my upcoming tutorial. Sharper the base image, lesser compression, higher bit-depther, the easier time Topaz will have. This setup does check all the boxes. But there is a combination models that work better or worse. I will go into details in my tutorial sereis. Cheers!
Canon shouldn't have released this in my opinion. The industry should be striving for the best VR experience possible and 8K is the minimum. The only positive spin I can put on this is maybe the price point will result in a huge uptick in creators and content, and then the consumer will demand the higher quality.
Well, I wrote a post on Reddit there voice my opinion on lower 4K immersive video. It’s actually necessary b/c of RU-vid 4K limit and wider headset support. Check it out here: www.reddit.com/r/VisionPro/s/aNqQPhdaS8
@@vrASMR180Hi, I believe the 4K restrictions are when you watch VR VIDEOS on RU-vid VR. There's a trick to watch up to more than 4K on the Quest3. But I'm not sure cause I don't connect my VR HEADSETS to the internet. I only use my headsets to check for the quality of my VR videos before uploading them to RU-vid.
@@ElaztikaVR Trick? The RU-vid app on Quest 3 supports 8K now. You just select quality settings and choose 8k. It looks great. Quest 2 does not support it. I assume Apple Vision Pro supports 8K when viewing RU-vid correct?
@@vrASMR180 Thank you for that. I didn't know. I thought it was a trick or something you must do first to see it in better resolution. I don't have the Quest 3. and I don't connect them to WIFI. I have the QUEST2, the PSVR, and the GO.
Hi Hugh, I'm a big fan of your channel! I have a technical question for you if you don't mind. I create 3D 360 and 180 VR videos with Blender animation software. I've uploaded some of these videos to RU-vid awhile ago (last year or more) but now when I try uploading 180 3D VR videos (mp4) they upload but when RU-vid tries to process them it fails. I mainly export my videos from After Effects and in the H264 properties I check VR and 180 by 180 and side by side. I have also tried injecting VR metadata with two different Spatial injectors (for 180VR) I've found but nothing seems to work. When you try to google this kind of thing you really only get info from 2-3 years ago. It's very frustrating! Can you shed some light on why this isn't working (for me) all of a sudden. Did something at RU-vid change? Maybe the metadata format changed? I really want to start creating more 180 VR content on my channel but this problem has made it come to a screeching halt. Thanks in advance!
I don't think the RU-vid metadata has changed but maybe After Effects changed. What I will suggest is make sure your file is 2 by 1 ratio. Then proper VR180 side by side format. Then render it from After Effects in PRORES and render H.265 / HEVC from Premiere (if you have AE, you should have PR). In Premiere, inject Side by side, VR 180 metadata there. As Premiere is the best metadata injector and work with both Meta Quest and RU-vid VR. So you won't go wrong there - I have been using it including this video and work like magic. After Effects has lots of change lately and I won't trust Adobe on that lol. PR every VR editors are using it so they can not mess up .
hi. 😁your video brings me back to filming 180 3d videos. I have 2 questions: 1. does it help if i film with the r7 and upscale these videos for example with topaz video ai ? 2. is the older canon dual fisheye usable with an r6? I have an r6 and could buy a good canon RF5.2mm L dual fisheye second hand. What do you think and the community?
1. Yes, this is my workflow and what I will teach in my next tutorial 2. Yes, with R6 you also only get 4K VR180. Basically similar setup as this without the autofocus.
A visual comparison of pictures is, as always, interesting and informative. Thank you. The results of shooting in the dark are impressive. The statement about the new camera is very intriguing. We are waiting for further information. A small note - it seems to me that it takes the viewer some time to fully perceive the stereo effect of the picture. Therefore, a rapidly changing image reduces the impression. I think that time-lapse shooting is not entirely suitable for such a video.
What is the best VR180 one can achieve in the lowest end? I am so interested in this, but seein the starting point being 1700$ certainly makes me lose most of the interest.
Insta360 EVO is the lowest end for now. Then the Mystery camera highlighted here is the next option. More affordable point and shoot spatial camera are coming. Our next video will interest you :)
I need a camera with maybe more modest specs but a hardware that delivers them 100%. Something between consumer and prosumer would be awesome. I still have hope
So there is 2 download links - there is one for Moonplayer but also for Meta Quest native high quality playback. And there is one is MV-HEVC for SpatialGen, Kandao XR or the "future" Apple native player for playback. Apple and Meta use different format. That is why I provide both for download. For that one is MV-HEVC - only native Apple codec can playback but it is hardware accelerated and in general way higher quality than the other way. Not this camera as it is only 4K so does not really matter.
As a CALF camera owner, I know about this "mystery camera" the canceled kickstarter, and have been waiting for more news. Nice to see them entrusting you for pre-release feedback. What's your thought on 8k 30fps vs 6k 50fps, low light performance. When do you plan on posting a review sample?
If this is the plastic calf I'm really not interested. We need competitors to the insta 360 x4 but in vr180 format. Real levels that an owner of a quest 3 can shoot video for their headset. $1500 cameras are unattainable for casual users
