Let me know if this lesson was helpful! I’d love to hear your thoughts! Here’s a link for this awesome backing track ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_CZHRLSck9k.htmlsi=V5YwXfdKMcs3-OkL
Awesome lesson & your tone & vibrato sounds just like Blackmore on the song "Lazy" from Deep Purple's "Machine Head"...he is using this same scale! I've finally noticed that you "top wrap" your Les Paul!
@@gearmeister I love me, some Ritchie, Blackmore, Guitar! I like top wrapping those strings for a little less tension, and I like to rest the palm of my hand on the bridge. And it feels better to me that way. I really appreciate the comment. Catch you later buddy.👍
@@rustysguitar1 Very cool, now I know that we're Blackmore fans & my goodness we've got a lot in common! I've got a black beauty within my 30+ guitar collection! I've tried top wrapping & I really didn't see much difference but we probably have a slight difference in where we normally place our right hand.
@@gearmeister you’re right. Probably not much difference. But I definitely like the way it feels as I rest my hand on the other side of the bridge. It’s a little higher. Thanks again. Keep rocking mate.👍
Hey there, Rusty! Can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your lessons! I’ve been “on and off” playing guitar for many years but never got very far with “lead work”. This is sooo helpful, especially for us “older guys”! Really do appreciate you, partner!
Cool! Us old guys have to stick together! Sounds like you’re moving forward. Thanks for your support this year. Craig and I hope you have a great new year holiday.👍
WOW! Thanks so much Rusty. I’m a 65 year old beginner and I’ve learned the pentatonic scale but this has opened up a whole new perspective. Next I’m going to memorize all those A positions. lol. Thanks again. You have a loyal follower.
Thank you! I had a great Christmas with my family. And I hope you have a great new year holiday! Thanks for all your support this year! Talk to you later, Stephen 👍
I’m often amazed at how important timing, attack, tension/vibrato are in great sounding music. The same handful of notes can sound completely different just because if they way they are played. I think that’s a big part of why I enjoy guitar - it’s very tactile.
Well said bro 😎 I definitely need to do more videos on technique. It doesn’t matter how many scales you know if you can’t make them sound like music! I appreciate the comments. Thanks.👍
Great explanation and lesson as always. At 1:07 I saw something I already was aware of in a usable light. Thank you for sharing your experience knowledge and passion for those of us trying to make music. BEST AND PEACE
Thank you, Chuck! I missed a lot of these simple connections myself. I had a lot of fun making this lesson!. I appreciate all your support this year! I hope you have a great new year holiday👍
There are a few of these connected patterns in the pent scales - it is all about which ones you want to memorize. This one is a really simple way to navigate to your more melodic riffs, thanks.
You are right! Most of our Guitar heroes play in a few select parts of the fretboard. If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me. But I definitely like to keep it simple! Thanks so much for checking out the video.👍
@@rustysguitar1 I am one of those hacks that that gets highly enthused aboutscrewing around with the guitar (and of course all of the gear) until life catches up with me and I get busy (and loose out). I really have been enjoying your approach - it helps me get back into the swing of things. Thanks again.
@@78tag nice! I’m glad to hear that! I love all things, Guitar! And it sounds like you do also! Thanks a lot for watching my videos. Talk to you soon.👍
These are by far the most practical solo lessons I have ever seen. Simple ideas that can help navigate the fretboard and sound very musical at the same time. Thank you so much for all of these great lessons. You deserve 1M subscribers!
This is great fun Rusty, & not too much thinking needed 👍🏻 hope you had a great Christmas time buddy and have a fantastic new year 🎉speak soon 👍🏻🎸🏴
Glad to hear it Dave! Thanks so much for all your support these last few years! Means a lot. My Christmas was awesome with my family. I hope yours was great also. And I hope you have an awesome upcoming 2024. Talk to you soon buddy.👍
This is a great lesson ! I just realized I bend to much, and very little slides, I have to give this lesson a grade of AAAAA+. Thank you Rusty you have opened up my mind. Much appreciated. Have a blessed new year.
Yeah man! Throwing a few slides in there can make a big difference. And it helps you get to other areas of the fretboard. Thanks so much for all your support this year. I know things will be looking up for you in 2024.🙏🙏🙏 so good
Had I have had your lessons when I was a kid… 👍🏻😌 Another great lesson! Thank you for all lessons in 2023. I wish you Rusty all the best for 2024! 👍🏻😎☀️
Yes, you’re right! Lessons like this early on with a boosted us all. Thanks for watching my lessons, and I hope you have a great new year holiday William.👍
Conceptually that was executed to perfection My dad always said “keep it simple stupid” Root notes along a horizontal scale lends to plenty of improvisations
That’s right we need to keep it simple! I like the way you said “root notes along the horizontal” Good one buddy! Enjoy your new year holiday. Thanks.👍
I just learned this extended scale yesterday lol. Thank you for this! I think its nice to know scales for sure but when you don't sound musical as a beginner then nothing makes sense until you start using vibrato, bends, slides, H.O's and P.O's and other cool tricks. We just gotta forge ahead and try as much as we can and keep at it. Thanks Rusty!
You are on the right track! The first step is learning the notes and scales to use. But you need to use other techniques to make those notes sound musical! Thanks so much for checking out my videos! I hope you have a great new year holiday! Thank you 👍
I swear you've been practicing on us all......on the sly, Rusty!! Great material and inspirations we hope and pray carry forward into the 2024 New Year!! Jim C.
I had a lot of fun with this lesson video for sure! Thanks for all your support this year. Really means a lot Jim! I hope you have a great new year holiday buddy.👍
You are the man rusty. I have found you to be the best guy on you tube for practical learning. The way you break it down is fantastic. Thanks bud and have a fantastic new year 🤘
Reminds me of the intro to Magic Man by Heart! My favorite band of all time. Love the Wilson sisters! What amazing song writers and talented women. IMHO, I think Ann is one of the greatest singers of our time. Thanks for this lesson Rusty!
I’m using one of your riffs from last week’s lesson for a guide to tone and feel. You are such a wonderful teacher. I was barely paying attention to this lesson, I immediately tested myself to see if I had the map down by transposing to G. Spent this week learning arpeggios. Makes no sense not to bone up on basics when you hear why.
Hey Cathy, it sounds like you’re really moving forward with your playing! It’s good to take little pieces out of each lesson and connect some of those ideas. I appreciate all your support this year Cathy! I hope you have a great new year holiday. Thanks.❤️
I like your teaching. I'm a barr chord thicko Sex Pistols guitar player and never developed past Never Mind the Bollocks. I see you as a breathe of fresh air and you keep it simple and inviting. I also love your black Les Paul and its tone. I salute you.
Hey Charles, I use it in a major context all the time also. The sliding effect sounds great over a major progression. Thanks for all your support this year. I hope you have a great 2024.👍
I really love your instruction over other youtube teachers. Youre method is very calm and relaxed and you go take it slow. I will continue to follow and learn from you. Keep up the great work! Thank you, sir! 🤘🏽🎸
I’m sorry to hear that. Make sure your subscription is still clicked on. And also make sure the bell is still clicked on. I have turned those things off myself by accident when watching someone’s video. RU-vid is very unpredictable. But I really appreciate you watching my videos! Thanks for all your support this year. I hope you have a great new year holiday Harold👍
This brief lesson is not helpful , it is SUPER HELPFUL - your lessons are also very inspiring. I have been playing many years , so many that ,in fact - should already know what you teach but never really took the time to dig in and learn the nuggets of playing that you so GREATLY INSTRUCT. I think you were born to show us this and cannot thank you enough for sharing your playing knowledge . I wish you were my neighbor - you rock 🙂🎸🎸🎸🎸👍✌️
You got me on that first line! Good one man! I’m really glad that the lesson’s are SUPER HELPFUL! Thanks for all your support CC! Have a great weekend 👍
I’m glad you like the tone! I like to set my amps clean and add drive pedals. My favorite is the J Rocket Audio Archer pedal. Thanks a lot for your support this year! Enjoy your new year holiday.👍
Thank you Rusty! This is the lesson I've been waiting for. The backing track and the style you taught today is worthy of emulation. I picked up the guitar at 60 and at 74 get most enjoyment from improvisational playing to backing tracks.
Another great tutorial clear and precise, I've been playing for years and am only now becoming confident. The more I play the more I'm proud to say I am Rusty😅
Cool stuff, Rusty! Lovin' the rockin' sound! You're such a good teacher. It makes a big difference: you can make a BIG sound, and then you show how "easy" it is. (It's "easy" but it takes practice!) Also lovin' the guitars you're usin'. (I wish I had even one of them, esp one that's light weight, cuzza my neck problems, lol.) And also lovin' that you have "The Good Book" in the background, under the light...even though you don't call attention to it. We all know it's there. Because, since it is what it is, it speaks VOLUMES by itself, just being there! 😅 thanks again for 'nother great lesson! Rock on! 👌 👍 🤪
Thanks so much, Jeff! I have been blessed with some nice equipment! And that’s exciting that you notice the Bible!!! it’s always good to hear from you. Talk to you soon, my brother.👍
