4:37 I would get the ecu mapping and TPS calibration checked if you are needing to crack the throttle. I've owned two of these bikes now and ridden at least 5 others. On my own bikes I've have jumped between ecu maps and updates (kindly uploaded by my dealer friend) The idle is self managed and throttle is not required to start them once warm, and there are map updates that improve cold starting also. 5:00 That is the same for any other current 4 stroke efi motorcycle Definitely agree with you on the forks and motor, perfect single track combination that leaves you smiling after the ride 👌 Agree with you on the air filter, if you have adult sized hands, it sucks - The factory has been told by many owners. 11:08 No force is required to release the fuel coupling - Tip Undo the pump wires and start the engine, this drains away the fuel pressure, the clip can easily be pushed down and the hose comes out.
The trick to release the fuel line from the tank is to disconnect the plug to the pump, then push the starter butten. This will release the pressure in the fuelline and it will pop off really easy :)
@@DirtBikeChannel Totally agree. I felt that something was wrong when it was a pita to remove that fuel line. Guess its a good thing so you dont get sprayed with fuel :)
These are pretty common fuel connections in the European automotive industry, very easy. Just push the elbow of the hose towards the pump first, then push the grey lock down, the fuel pressure will blast off the hose.
It was either Sherco or 250FX for my 4T. I'm so glad I went with the Yamaha, especially after watching this review. Wayyy too many negatives for nearly 11K.
Sherco is becoming new KTM :) my Sherco 2020 2t 300se factory is fantastic and my next 4t will be probably a Sherco as well to replace ktm 500 exc-f. Sherco motor and suspension have no competition today. Foot pegs position is really personal thing, higher pegs have some advantages too. Also these radiator plastic protection do actually work.
I feel like talking crap on 450 dirt bikes is the cool thing to say these days in the dirt bike world… This video want even about the 450’s but still comments get slipped in. It really gets old, and just because you’re smaller and don’t like the weight doesn’t mean that it’s not right for someone else. And the big 4 strokes are making a lot of progress in their “lugability” and is getting a lot better. I’m 6’4 weigh 240, and have been riding for the last 20 plus years. A 450 works great for me, is it heavier than a 2 stroke, or these new 300 4 strokes… sure. But really 15 pounds a lot of which is fairly low in the bike isn’t a deal breaker for me and really gives loads more power which I appreciate being a bigger guy. I know I’m not the only one that thinks this either, but a crap ton of dirt bike content producers today constantly talk down on them.
Having problems with starting the bike?? My 2012. SE300i with almost done battery starts without any problems... Or newer date bikes have some issues or you are just making stuff to fill cons list...
Great vids man! Well-thought-out and articulated. This video led me into watching your review on the yz250x. I just got a new 2021! Best thing to come out of 2020 so far. Leading up to my purchase I watched a lot of videos and your Channel is now my go-to. Going to buy some gear and maybe win this dirt bike! Question: I'm 230 lb. So I need to do something about the rear suspension. You have any thoughts?
How on earth do you remove the fuel line retaining clip from the tank if it is not holding any more? I have a new on to go on. Love your reviews and adore how you weigh the bike in real world ways! I totally agree on the oil filler location coment!
This Sherco is his favorite 4 stroke to date? Apparantly he hasn't ridden my twenty year old xr400r, certified beast. Let me know when you'd like to review it, we can work something out.
AHH I've been waiting for this review thanks! I like what you've done with the bike except I'm a short guy so I'm going to be raising the foot pegs back up when I get it lol
Kyle please try the new KTM 350 exc f or the XC F . It is a different machine than the one you rode a few years ago. All you have to do is Uncork it and you will be amazed how great the motor is and how light weight it feels.
Would like to see you review the 21 Husqvarna fe350, I just got one and love it so far but would like to see someone like you with a higher skill level test it out.
I Third this. I bought a 2021 Husqvarna FE350 in September and love it. I do get some chain slap which is very annoying when lugging it even when the chain is adjusted correctly, anyone else having that issue.
Sherco's only have 5 clutch springs in stead of 6, so they are heavier springs and a stupid heavy clutch . I installed a clake one clutch Awesome Aussie invention .
Great informational video Kyle, really enjoyed it. I have a KTM 350 that seems to flame out quite easily. The Sherco sounds like it doesn't have this problem? That would be a good selling point for me. Thanks!
@@bradburt38 I wish that were true for mine. But 10 years of technology updates may have helped? Often thought about adding the JD injection tuner. Would be great to hear from someone who has.
Actually really good. I've ordered some odd stuff and still have it in 2-3 days. The issue for some people is that there aren't a ton of aftermarket vendors but definitely enough to get anything you'd want and really good ones too
Thanks for stating which bikes you would take the SEF over. Surprised you said YZ250FX. Thought YZ250FX was your favorite 4T. So Kyle, tell us which bike you would take 1st, 2nd, 3rd of the 3 you are giving away in December.
Im 15 and personally haven't really ridden any brand new bikes but i cant say I have a blast on one of my buddys yz450f and my brothers wr250f. I have an old 1999 honda cr125r but am looking to get a yz250. I was torn between a 450 and the 250 two stroke but in the end it came down to me being 135 pounds and the yz250 is a lighter bike overall but nevertheless both are super fun
Clean the air flow sensor to the right of the fuel injector and the idle control to the left of the injector and this makes a huge difference to how it runs!
Battery low is a good thing. Why do I need access to my battery? I don't need access to it unless I'm changing it. I couldn't care less that oil got on it. Spray it off when you clean your filter if you want. I'd rather put the weight low, then feel fuzzy that I can look at it on top.
Just commenting on the rear break sticking out. I just bought a 2021 300 se factory and the rear break pedal is so tucked in under the cluch cover I can't even get to it half the time.
3/4 of the gripes here are more of a lack of knowledge than actual issues with the bike. Oil changes are much easier than you made it look, the plastic isn't brittle (iv only ever seen one broken handguard out of dozens of Shercos being raced), the air filter comes right in and out with only a quarter turn, the fuel coupler is simply a push the ring down and pull the fitting up- you forced it and broke it.. The cockpit may feel smaller yet 6'3" Cody Webb runs stock pegs where as he always used low pegs on his KTM. I'd like to make a rebuttal video soon. I do agree though it's a great motor, great handling, and the suspension is leaps better than KTM even cone valve..
wow, Is it really pronounced A-crop-a-vich?!?! Everyone I know have been saying Acro-poe-vic for years! .....learn something new every day. Great Review!
I think it's easier to ride than a 250f. Just enough more bottom to mid to compensate for screwing up. I'd only pick their 250f if I were trying to race in the 250 class
It would be an amazing first or fourth bike, you can always put it in the mild position on the mapping and it dumbs it down a bit. So much easier to learn on a bike that is built well and performs well. You will never be able to blame the bike for the riding issues.....
1. You CAN change the oil with the skid plate on 2. You can turn the air filter a quarter turn and it comes in and out of the bike very easy. 3. You don't have to remove the case saver to remove the oil filter cover. It's very close but it does clear.
Not surprising, Enduro in France is mostly forest and slow speed unless racing and even there nowhere near as open as what you have. And silencer is quiet beaucoup regulations here are very strict and to be road legal and not get shot by hunter and thrown rocks by people in the forest being quiet is important.
Oil issues and air filter is reason enough not to buy. I had a 2007 CRF 250 x was an even worse design air filter box, I would buy a bike based on its air filter design. Yamaha have got it right.
But they don’t have it right... my 18 450fx even though the air filter is up in front of the seat it was still at a steep angle and easy to put on wrong
@@andychips6923 at least it would be an easier space to clean. I don't own a Yamaha, just looked like it would be a good position. I have a 2009 husaberg which has the air filter over or sort in the tank. No tool air filter box. It does have one issue and that is dropping fuel into it if you over fill. Not perfect but better than this sherco. Ktm has a good ait filter box as well.
Thats not a race/preformance bike. Its like a crf250L, super heavy and hardly any power. Its labeled as a dual sport bike. Kyle wouldn't be able to do any of the trails he currently does, with the klx300. It weights like 125 pounds more and i think is air cooled.
Those bikes are almost half the price too. Sometimes a comparison like that is not only fun, it shows what you’re actually getting for twice the price.
@@warrenstemphly5756 true it would be kinda cool but that not what kyle does. Say he bought one, most of his audience, probably at least 80%, wouldn't watch those videos cuz that not a race type bike. Also btw its a pretty well known thing in the motosports world that a used bike thats a few years old thats half the price is a crazy lot better than a new bike that doesn't fit ur riding style. If ur looking for a bike that is still raceable and fun then buy a used performance bike.
Understood totally, I’m not much of a rider and as much as I’d love a higher end bike, and could afford a Sherco, I know that as a newbie at age 47 I’ll never get anywhere near what the higher end bikes can do. A TTR230/KLX230 or CRF250F are in my future though and I’m sure that they will be able to do anything I’d ever want.
@@warrenstemphly5756, what are u looking to do with ur back once u get one? Maybe i can help u decide what one to get. Also where are u from cuz the condition can also affect what kinda bike ur gonna want. Like if ur doing single track woods in the upper midwest and u don't want like a ton of power but u still want a nice bike then its hard to beat the price of a honda crf250x. Lighter, electric start, not a ton of power. I have a friend whos 52 and only has riden for 2 years and he thinks that the 250x is the best bike for him. U don't need a newer one because they are all good, I'd get a 2008 and up one.
Bro you gotta pull the side cover to get to the air filter and it’s easy to do and like it better than KTM and husky version. I think you need to educate yourself before posting reviews about stuff you know nothing about or didn’t take the time to figure it out.
Trust me the kx in the back round would be a better bike The Shercos efi sucks dirt and dust and in those conditions you cant ride half a day before it wont run properly and flames out endlessly Over here in Auz they are a bad joke
Must be bad maintenance on that bike as I have over 75 hours on my bike with no flame outs ever....oh and I am in SE Queensland where we have lots and lots of dust mate....
Those are a huge list of insidious, unacceptable maintenance bugaboos. So basically every single process you're going to do all the time, like change the oil and air filter, become so long and complicated it make people go far too long between services. If Sherco wants me to buy their bike they need to really think about all the regular maintenance items like that.
I like the motor but the suspension was Nothing compared with my KTM. I run the Explor Pro components so might be unfair comparison. Bikes sure are Purty!
I have had lots and lots of bikes and this Sherco is the best bike I have ever owned by far. The air filter is not an issue, and the oil fill is easy if you just unclip the three springs and remove header, takes one minute and it gives you a chance to clean behind header and the header itself. On the trails it is amazing and you get so much more for your money in a lighter bike in the real world. All those KTM weights can be thrown out the window once you put all the accessories that the Sherco comes stock with, that are not on the KTM. Akro exhaust?? Have to add that to a KTM too...
