Wow, this is the best, detailed review I have seen on this monitor. Thank you for taking the time out to leave such a review as it's been really helpful.
You: "But since I am not using it for real work... i mean I have a fulltime job at an office downtown...while my home office is more for fun or occasional remote work, I don't think I would personally spend that much money on a monitor if I were to buy it" 2020: "Hold my beer"
Love the review. One question for you though? How far from the wall is the display? I have a narrow desk and am really trying to find a monitor to go as close to the wall as possible. Love your videos, keeping it as minimalist as possible.
I received my unit 4 days ago and I'm very disappointed with the build quality. At the lower end of the monitor, there is a separation between the bezel and the LCD with a rubber sticking out of it. I can see in the video yours got the same issue too. Absolutely unacceptable for a monitor marketed as "Pro Designers". As a designer myself, if I turn in a product to a client in such state, I will have no job until the end of my career.
Nice. Thanks a lot. I can't fin any alternate for this model. But may be we get a TB4 monitor like this? One question: what is the table light on the left. Looks pretty nice
No matter what I do, I cannot access color mode along with many other options. They’re all greyed out. Also my thunderbolt only delivers 30hz for some reason.
Regarding the KVM, it looks like you have to press the button twice or two buttons. In other monitors you just change the USB assignment for each of the video input, and simply switch input (and the correct USB will follow). Can you remember how it works exactly? Thank you
Im planning to buy this monitor but you said you would look somewhere else for gaming. Eventhough I am not a professional gamer, I play a lot of games on my PC (battlefield 5 or age of empires 2) and on my PS4. Do you think this can be a problem for me? Is it just refresh rate or input lag noticeable? Thanks for the review. @minimalistik
This monitor has a trick: use dynamic contrast to get a better brightness. I almost return it because of its poor brightness before this configuration.
Hi Great Review! Ive got mine couple of days ago. Are you using it at native 4k or downscale to 3008 x ? My mbp with 560x seems sluggish when Im scaling that down to 3008 resolution and its not comfortable to use.
Hi, this monitor looks perfect to me as I also need to connect both a laptop (usb-c) and an home pc. Assuming I also want to game, what is a better alternative ?
Thanks for the review! I got PD3220u one and it is great, but I found only on the screen sides the image disappear to black when you look from other angels, do you have the same issue? like you put your mouse curser on the side edge and let me know it fade to black when you shift your head.
I do not believe this has a true 10-bit panel like you say. Usually true 10-bit panel displays are VERY expensive (like 2-4 thousand USD and even more). Pretty sure this is a native 8-bit panel and uses FRC (firmware processing to make it appear to be 10-bit). I just checked, it indeed does not have a true 10-bit panel.
Hello. Cell me, please about the video card that is recommended for this monitor / what you use or recommend. Stuffing your system? if you use the windows. I'm leaving with the iMac in 2017 and now I look towards the PD3220U, but I don’t know which way to look at the system unit! Respect your recommendations.
But can it keep your MacBook charged while it’s on full load? A bunch of thunderbolt 3 monitors can’t supply 87W/96W of power needed for the newer MacBook pros.
Hi there... Could you comment on why you went with a single large pannel instead of two smaller ones? I'm a full stack software dev... and i'm considering getting a PD3220U instead od 2x27 inch screens because i'm becoming iritated by the wideness of a dualscreen setups. I multitask a lot but i have gotten used to using a bunch of virtual desktops and alt+tabbing a lot. Also... do you find high PPI of a 4k screen useful for reducing eyestrain when reading code?
hoow is this monitor treating you? I want to hvae a dual monitor setup but I'm not sure if I want this or a curve monitor. My use cases are similar to yours where I use windows for gaming and mac for work so plug and play is important to me with kvm. DO you have any alternative monitor suggestions that is cheaper with kvm?
A quick question why my Benq PD3220U hooked up to the macbook pro mid 2015 using display port has so blurry text in native resolution, 60Hz? It happens exactly the same with HDMI. Is it my 5 year old macbook pro, so I should change it to the newest macbook 16 with thunderbolt 3 or it’s normal due to lower ppi comparing to the macbook’s display with retina?
I can't tell from the off-screen video, but how sharp is the text? Is the downscaling good on mac? I ask because I probably would need to scale down to 2k?
If BenQ allow to download and use firmware or different versions of it, then it's a great monitor. But, for my personal experience the lack of firmware can be a huge problem for a user of a monitor that costs more than 1k bucks. The firmware of my ASUS Pa279Q was broken or hacked, nobody knows, the only one thing I know, is that - I will never gonna find a firmware for this kind of a professional IPS monitor and it's will remain as a secondary monitor till the end of his days, my current default firmware tells that: "manufacturer is - @@@ and a serial number is - 00000000" which means its could be hacked with an engineering tools
It's expensive for some. But to me it's still very much you get for that money. If you compare it to an Apple Pro Stand to start with. This monitor is a steal.
@minimalistik I have a question and I hope you can help me. So I have one Macbook pro which often runs Linux in vmware. Up until now I've had a dual monitor setup. One monitor with MasOS and one with Linux. I want a single monitor setup, but the problem is that I have to separate the VM from host OS by snapping them to each side, which never works as well as having dual monitors. With this monitor, do you think it would be possible to connect two USB-C cables from the Macbook TO the monitor on separate ports and split the screen with picture-in-picture mode?
can you make a audio no peak treable..... because when i watch your video, i always get fuckoff because that peak treable audio. i always get volume down when i waching -_- please for better content on your channel
Nice review and I like the monitor. Just one thing... I dk if it's ur style, but you might want to make sure your hair is up to par, kind of ruins the nice review when you show yourself at the end... haha ;)
