I am a new follower of you, and I will start working in the field of printing on demand. I searched a lot and listened to your videos a lot, but your videos are really special, especially for people who do not master English like me, because I am an Arab person from Egypt, but despite that, a clear and distinct explanation. Thank you, I loved your videos
Thanks, Wholesale Ted! Your POD Express inspiration video was incredibly helpful! Can't wait to apply these tips to my business. Keep up the great work!"
Great video! Such amazing information. Do you have a video on how to make different sizes, and how to split the images? This would be so great if you have it! Thanks, Sarah!
Hi Sarah! Ur awesome! Im listening to all ur videos and taking notes. I hope I have sellable ideas cz it seems such a fun way to make $. You r special and deserve ur success❤❤
Awesome content as usual. I am currently stuck in a rut where I need to find a side hustle desperately. I take care of my 83yo mom and because I take care of her I am so scared when she passes away, I would not be able to pay for the bits her pension covers. I currently cover 80% of our living expenses and everything that comes with it. This has been my life for 10 years and yes, 10 years ago it was a different story, no issues. I am in permanent lockdown. I have no pension, I am 45 yo and need an exit plan for when the inevitable happens.
I love how easy you make it all look! Question: I remember an Etsy marketing expert once saying that you need to have at least 100 different products to get any views. Is that number still accurate or has it gone up?
Haha yes I've seen people say that, and its such an odd myth that is absolutely not true. I have a video that completely debunks that myth coming out in a couple of weeks.
The hundred Kiwi dollar question: how do you actually set up a 2 or 3 piece photo product on Etsy? I found a description which says the only way is to create multiple products individually on Printify and then we have to set up a product variation with all those products linked into that variation?
Thank you for the great video. It is a great idea but Sales will drop due to the declining economy. So to anyone else reading this. Try and be unique and stand out as much as possible.
Hey Sarah, love your videos! Just curious, what are your thoughts on selling customisable products on Etsy? Eg. Where a buyer can add their name or year born, etc. Does it help boost sales? If so, are tools to help you automate the customisation process once you receive a sale?
Love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing this helpful info. Do you have a step by step video on how to list items on Etsy and link with printful? Thank you!!
I'm happy to make money online as long it as it doesn't involve paypal, if you can just add your bank details to the website and get paid directly to your bank account, I'd find that WAY EASIER
Have you ever made T-shirts that have print on the back as well? Do you think they'd sell well? You make awesome informative videos and I appreciate you so much!!
Do u have a video already breaking down how to make a listing that is a 3-9 pack of framed artwork? Is this something thats easy to create? I get the concept of breaking the image up into multiple images for a custom pack of wall art, however not sure how to actually create the listing itself when syncing it up in etsy with ny pod shop. Or do places like printful etc. have a wall art selection already set to choose for making these set of 3, 6 or 9 (or however many) wall hangings? Perhaps this is a dumv question and i cpuld figure it out once playing around on the computer but figured id ask regardless because ive wondered this in the past when it comes to making lets say, tshirt pavks (u know one for the mum and one for the child type of thing).
For the multi-pack, you'll need to order that manually for a customer using Printify's custom order feature. But it honestly takes 2 minutes to do so. During covid, I would often have to do manual orders for customers for a new print shop if a supplier I had connected to auto-fulfill got locked down and had their print shop closed. I got very very fast at it!
Question: I’ve noticed A LOT if not all the Etsy listings I’ve looked up in my research say handmade. And I really think some r print on demand. What is the right way to list a print on demand product??
@@WholesaleTed I was wondering the same thing about downloaded art to sell digital downloadable to print wall art or use for POD. Even if the art says it's okay to sell as is, Etsy states you have to design or make the item to qualify for handmade. If I download someone else's artwork unchanged to sell as digital art downloads then I didn't design it and using the same image with POD I am not making it either. Thoughts on this? From Seller Policy " b. What Can't be Sold on Etsy Reselling is not allowed in the handmade category on Etsy. Reselling refers to listing an item as handmade when you were not involved in designing or making that item." Thanks!
How do we upload and resize images of wall art to Etsy images and thumbnails? How do we convert art images to various digital files for sale, and compress them in zip files? How do we make a PDF for the customer to purchase, with a link to the zipped digital file? Where do we store the digital file for the customer to download? So many questions about the practicalities of selling on Etsy that no-one answers. Please help, Wholesale Ted!
Hi I just started POD and so far I only have Etsy as a sales channel, I want to ask is there any way to automate the product publishing process? So far I publish everything manually and I manage to add 3 - 4 (so far) t-shirts a day.
This was a really inspiring video, I do have one question: Even on the images that are uploaded earlier than 2019 it says (when clicking on the "license" under the image): "You cannot sell or distribute Content (either in digital or physical form) on a Standalone basis. Standalone means where no creative effort has been applied to the Content and it remains in substantially the same form as it exists on our website." Is this just them slapping a standard wordsalad on all items? Or else it seems it's not allowed to use without substantial changes to the images...I'm a bit confused.
They purposefully confuse people by placing a link to their content license on every page. Most people think (understandably) that it means that the content license applies to all of the photos on the website. It's not true, but they know that they are implying it, and they want you to think that, is my guess. You can read more on the Pixabay Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixabay
Hi Sarah - great info as always (thanks for sharing with us!). Quick question: if we take a photo and make mods to it and then go to upload - what should we say when uploading if the question "Do you own the artwork" comes up? We don't, but if it's public domain we are allowed use. Thanks in advance!
I’m wondering if printify would allow u to upload 2 items for 1 listing. Ie 2 canvases. Then u could split up a pic on canvas..?? Also, have u heard about the issues w Canva for POD specifically not allowing sublicensing? Is that an issue??
Sarah thank you but you said we could use for free. Why then do we have to change the photos if they are public domain? I’m confused. Can you explained
What is the correct way to do this ?Is just to up the picture edit it than upload it to printify and sell it to Etsy or is there an other way to avoid printify
hi sarah love your content! I wanted tp know your perosnal opinion on wich of every of your recommendatios is the best and more profictabel for a single mom to start a business? of all you recommend? thnk you!
Well of course, that's exactly why as I showed people were selling the same exact photo, however, it's such a great photo that people love buying it all the time anyway and many different sellers are successful with it, it's a big enough market that lots of people can sell it. There is a very popular public domain photo of a camel I see being sold in lots of different furniture stores here locally as a print - it sells great in all of them.
@@WholesaleTed That's good to know, that there's enough demand for lots of sellers to continue profiting from it. Thank you for responding and explaining.
I am excited about the idea, I am desperately trying to find some extra iincome, but how do you integrate printify making split photo arrangements? I can only find single canvas products there. I appreciate any suggestions.
@@WholesaleTed it's actually worse than that. In a bid to identify re-sellers and dropshippers on the platform, Etsy are using AI bots to seek them out - and unfortunately these bots are somewhat over-enthusiastic. So people who are genuine sellers of POD items like mugs, jewellery etc are suddenly finding their products de-listed after happily selling them for years. People in my e-com groups have shared the responses they've received from Etsy and although they vary somewhat, the common theme is that the item 'is not hand made' or is not unique and therefore must be a standard product that is being re-sold. In one sad case, someone whose Etsy products had been ripped off and copied on Amazon had her Etsy account suspended and products de-listed because the bots found the duplicates on Amazon and assumed she was therefore a re-seller! It's been causing a lot of grief.
So after changing the pictures slightly, they are able to go on Etsy and say it was made by them? Or do you have to say where you got the photo from originally?
Love your videos. Do you have a video on how to upload listings quickly in this poster/prints niche? also how to start a new etsy store to generate sales quickly without getting shut down by etsy?
But with so many people doing what you say and all that competition already on there, even if I have a beautiful image that nobody else is selling, how can I possibly get anyone to find it and buy it? Luck? Or is it a matter of putting a huge quantity out there and hope that at least some will be found?
if a pixabay image is from before jan 9th 2019 but the description says "Selling of my photos with StockAgencies or selling prints is not permitted!" am i still able to sell it?
I'm not a lawyer but my under standing is that if they uploaded it to the public domain, even if they regret it later, they can't retroactively remove it or add a new license to it. What is in the public domain is in there forever.
Hi Sarah. Thanks for the video tips. I'm getting started on Etsy and I noticed that tshirts are selling for like $8-10. How do you make money selling Bella Canva tshirts when the competition is selling their designs so cheaply?
Don't sell your t-shirts for $8-10. Well designed t-shirts can sell for $18+ easily on Etsy. People undersell themselves, but that doesn't mean you have to! I believe in this video I show examples of stores that price their shirts a reasonable prices. You can go and check out them out for inspiration on how to position yourself in the market: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M57ToY7JfMI.html
A lot do price baiting by putting the price of their extra small shirt without shipping and in a single, specific color as the cost. But if you look at the variations, other sizes and colors are more costly and then you have to add shipping as well.
Hi, why we need Tineye to check previous history of the image whereas pixabay has public domain and is already allowed to sell that image as commercially?
You don't need Tineye. I used Tineye to locate where the images were originally sourced from as a form of research. But you don't need to use Tineye to sell photos from Pixabay at all.
@@WholesaleTed this is the one thing that made me second guess (& then not even start) print on demand a couple years ago.. I just didn't know how to protect my work (I'm an artist/animator) have you ever had people stealing your designs.. And what's a good way to stop them? & Keep it from happening in the first place? (I'm sorry if your already made a video on this!) It seems like it would be a huge hassle to track everyone down & send them cease & desist letters 😩
To be honest, I don't think the values mentioned are for real. Even if they are these are stores that must be running for a lot of years. For someone starting out I do have my doubts...
Ok. So, here's my question. I'm using Canva to create my own designs for shirts, mugs, etc., etc. Is it worth it to put them on Etsy, or should I stick with Spreadshirt?
Another golden nugget of an opportunity! Sarah, do you have a favorite POD supplier for posters and framed prints? I need to get started on this asap and would appreciate a tip for the best quality supplier(s). Thanks!
I haven't tested out the different POD suppliers for posters/prints from Printify myself (I use Printful) however, many people have great experiences. Put each print shop into Google Maps & check out reviews from their local customers to narrow down the choices :)
I had the same question, so I checked out a few free sites and found they have the same "no selling" policy as pixabay. I'm looking at using my own photos. I have decent camera gear and have some nice pix.
I plan to remake my video on this at some point, but my strategy is to focus on the product creation, not the marketing/traffic. Why? Because by focusing on the product phase, I do market research which identifies niches & subniches I can improve on. I target an audience already looking for products and then I fill that gap for them. That's why you see me talking so much about products, and not traffic. 3rd Party websites have so much search engine traffic available, and the way to get it is to have great conversions from a great product to maximize the impressions they always give stores, including new stores, as test impressions. This video discusses it, but again, I'd like to remake it at some point: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A-bQFXWppoA.html
You'll easily find a YT that covers marketing / traffic if not on here. Pretty sure everyone knows you can promote via your Socials or Pinterest is great - either way - it's just a search for anyone that wants to learn more and there will be a YT channel - guaranteed.
When you upload a photo to a POD product, it will tell you if it's in high definition or not, but basically, for it to print sharp it needs to be in 300 DPI which many photos uploaded to websites like Pixabay are 🌞
