Cant help but feel that Action Comics 1000 is the best looking in every aspect. It still remains my definitive on the shelf despite picking up the recent Hush and Doomsday 2 pk ones.
A toss up between NECA and DC Essentials for me. On a side note, I’m convinced that no one at MacFarlane Toys can paint skin tones, because everyone has this either jaundiced appearance or they look gaunt and zombie-like.
I really do like the NECA Superman, even with exaggerated sculpting but my favorite is still the McFarlane Action Comics 1,000. It looks amazing with the Knightfall Batman as a classic Superman. I'm hoping to get one from the 2-pack coming up because I really like the colors on that release. The blue is lighter and they painted the S in more flat tones which I think I like over the metallic colors.
@@blue18404 If you men some of the Jean Paul Valley armors, I agree. I men, you already have one Knightfall Batman, why not make some of the other variations?
Action Comics #1000 is the best. The face sculpt and head strongly remind me of Dan Jurgens' features and slightly of John Byrne's. The uniform colors and the shields are sensational. Honestly, among the ones in the video, I chose Action Comics #1000, but truth be told, with mine, I did a Kitbash to make it exactly as I needed: I merged the chest, head, and cape with the remaining pieces from the Superman Hush figure. To me, it turned out fantastic!!! The best 7'' Superman - 1/10.
My current favorite is the Action Comics 1000 variant from the Atomic Skull 2 pack. It’s everything we love about Action 1000 plus a better blue costume.
I agree that NECA is the winner. I’d say the worst presentation of Superman out of all of them is Hush, because the pale skin, bad cape, and a squished head ruined it. Man, that Direct Superman is amazing. It would’ve been absolutely unbeatable if it had the same articulation as the Hush one. Excited for the 6” Superman comparison!!
@@5POAFigureReviews definitely! Cause each other figure has their flaws but also their best qualities. So that’s why either one you choose is a winner.
I completely agree with the two choices for “best”. I recently sold all of my Superman figures except Neca and McFarlane Hush. I think between the two they represent the best characteristics of Superman.
My fix with the Hush Superman's short neck is I pop the heck off and stick some sticky tack on in. It makes the world of difference. Not only does he matches Batman's height, he looks proportionate now.
@@5POAFigureReviews will you be willing to make a video on it? But doing so might permanently change the size of the pegs. Like your other figs where the heads are wobbly.
Do they produce like 8 of these figures or something? I notice with the McFarlane ones for example, they're difficult to get after a few months. I'm in UK and having trouble finding the Superman 1000.
God... all of these figures suck for different reasons. If i could combine all of them into one Frankensteined custom it would be okay. Instead of the "best", this is a contest for "least bad".
I did a Kitbash with my Action comics #1000, to make it exactly as I needed: I merged the chest, head, and cape with the remaining pieces from the Superman Hush figure.
Or, just head swap McFarlane Superman Rebirth with Superman Hush. If the Cape is a bother, just swap action comics 1000's cape with hush, and sticker on a yellow symbol in the back. 😆😆😆
@@Wol1427that wouldn't work for what he's trying to do. Honestly it wouldn't work for me either. The rebirth head sculpt and hair suck in my opinion. They're worthless. And all of the capes you mentioned suck. The NECA cape is cloth and large with folded pleats. Much better.
I'm curious to know everyone's opinion on which Superman looks good next to Knightfall Batman. Take in consideration that Classic Wonder Woman (when she comes out) will be part of that trio.
In my opinion, Knightfall anc AC 1000 look best together. The blues also look good together. It's really all going to hinge on whether or not Wonder Woman is sized well
The DC Direct Supes that came with Doomsday and the Death of Superman graphic novel is STILL the Superman for my shelf, with that big ol' S front and center in the heroes lineup. For me, a big, prominent S is a must, which is why I also like the McFarlane Action Comics 1000 fig.
Great video, I really enjoyed it. I think the best of this video's Superman figures is the Byrne Superman. As an adult collector I dislike over articulation. The DC Direct Byrne Superman is very esthetically pleasing although they could have done a much better job on the \S/.
@5POAFigureReviews The Size is fine it's just sloppy. Same body is used on the DC Direct Justice League Classic Icons figure and the \S/ looks great, in my opinion l.
IMO Byrne Superman would be perfect if it had the McFarlane poseability. I hated Action 1000 Supes when it first came out but now it's one of my favorites (same with Detective Comics 1000 Batman). I really do like all of these But Action 1000 & Hush might be my top picks here. Btw, Essentials has a great face & head sculpt.
Whether one agrees or not isn’t important but this video itself is important. It’s a video with a coherent, thorough and thoughtful subject. Well done. PS I disagree
I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume that you left out the Mafex Superman Hush and Mezco Man of Steel Superman's out of this comparison because you're only comparing Superman figures that are highly articulate and under $50. Because if we're talking BEST OVERALL Classic Superman figures, the Mafex Superman Hush and the Mezco Man of Steel Superman are without question the overall best Superman figures in the 1/12 scene at the moment.
This was a video focusing on 1/10 scale Superman. Mezco will definitely be included in the 1/12 scale Versus, and hopefully I can track down an affordable Mafex Hush as well. That would be my ideal scenario.
Essentials and Hush are on opposite sides of the spectrum. One's a bit too scrawny while the other is a bit too beefy. For favorites i'd say Neca and Action Comics1000 look the best. Why is Hush Batman so huge?
I like Action 1000... but yeah, the legs also bother me, i find them too thin as well. And the stretched out 'S' . But it's the definitive Superman on almost everyone's shelves.
My custom McFarlane superman (a kitbash between AC1000 and Rebirth) is my definitive superman. Removing customs from the conversation Hush is my favorite.
Hell yeah Jason this is a great comparison video!!❤❤❤❤ Also I don't like the body mold Mcfarlane uses for Supes either, he looks like a total mook. I like Essentials and Neca the most
I actually like the Hush Superman best. I prefer a more bulky looking Supes over one that's too lean. Plus he has the best articulation. I was always they didn't give the AC-1000 figure double jointed elbows.
5POA, I got to ask what are your top figures for McFarlane Toys, DC figures that have not been made yet? For me, it’s rebirth Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl(Kendra version), Zatanna, Power Girl, Vixen, and Black Canary. Yes, I am very aware that my top desired figures are all female. That’s because I’m trying to build a justice league collection and right now is a horrid sausage fest. 😂
Hey there is a lot of need for female figures, so it makes sense. If I was going to limit myself to female, it would Rebirth Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Hush Catwoman, Starfire, and Big Barda. Otherwise, I really want a classic Bizarro, comic Two-Face, and Red Tornado.
I love my DC Essentials Superman, but I’m really sad at how he’s held up. Over the years, the hip joints have gotten fairly loose. Mix that with awful ratcheted ankles and he’s virtually impossible to stand.
wow, interesting comparison, not a big fan of Superman, the only normal Version I have are the two TDKR versions from McFarlane, the only other Superman Variants on my list are Gladiator and first apearance Supes
I debated including TDKR, since the costume was fairly classic, but it is a specific look from a specific book and not a general all purpose Superman, so I decided against it
Great review and I agree for the most part. I've all the same figures except for cloth cape Superman. I just do not like cloth capes on my figures, they make it look cheap imo.
I generally feel the same way, but in cases like this where they give you enjoy fabric to feel like a proper cape, and a good quality material, I can make an exception
Excellent review. Im going with neca and action 1000. The McFarlane is bit sturdier. But neca was right on with the look. I did get an unpainted Superman head off ebay which was modelled after the neca. Lot fun painting those eyes. Popped it into a DKR superman body. Head us a touch snall but i like it. It reminded me of ed McGinnis art.
Have you ever seen when they mix and match Hush and Action Comics 1000? I have a short where I do that with the repainted Atomic Skull version. I think that combo might be my favorite
I really despise the neca dc figures, I love the joker-xenomorph and the sinestro predator, even the armored batman is kinda cool, but the regular batman, superman and even green lantern all feel like the Batmetal designs of those character, those music videos with the overdesigned buff batman with puffy lips. Just too ugly for my taste for my money AC1000 with updated arms and ankle joints would be perfect
I really like the kitbash I see with AC upper torso and diaper with Rebirth arms, lower torso and legs. And thanks now I can't unsee the music video comparison lol now if only Todd would make THAT Batgirl... Lol
This is a very nice comparison. I find the NECA figure to be the most interesting. I'm kind of cheap. I bought the McFarlane Dark Knight Superman on sale. Then I bought a set of the MEZCO heads. All the MEZCO heads I got came with neck pegs. So I replaced the McFArlane peg with the MEZCO one. Some people think the head looks too small on the body, but I think it gives it those 1990s heroic proportions.
