I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
I’ve had these for 5 years and the review is bang on. I have the standard 75 pound kit and the kettlebell. Both are great. I use them for CrossFit and although I don’t drop dumbbells, i know there‘a zero risk of damage if I do, especially on rubber flooring.
Man this video was a godsend! With all the covid-19 situation going on, I was looking at bowflex and power blocks but this blows them out of the water. Thank you!
They look nice and solid. I wish they were around years ago when I bought my power blocks. That being said, my power blocks have held up well, but I try to be careful about dropping them.
This is the best review on Ironmaster I have seen. Thank you. You've convinced me this is the way to go. I almost went the powerblock route..... These will last a lifetime and will take barely any room. Thanks for the very informative review!
I have had these IronMaster Quick Lock Dumbbells for over 3 1/2 years and they look 95% as they did on day 1! Love them and use them for every DB exercise and even have 2 sets of the IronMaster Quick Lock Kettlebell handles as-well and use this set up everyday! The $ you save is insane! I have 2 sets 1 up to 45# and 1 with fat grips to 120# along with 2 QLKB handles with their own loading pins that can go up to 88# +. Top notch and saves me a ton of space! Good video Brandon! And I’m glad you gave them a good review as they are some of the best options available out there. One last bonus is IronMaster gives a military discount as well so that was a huge plus also! 10/10
This Vid just popped up on my feed. Here's my 2 cent's about Powerblock Build Quality....I've had mine over 20 years exposed outside to elements in Southern California. Yes you've heard right out side in my back yard home gym. I can tell you they have held up pretty good. Every few years I just touch them up with some black paint to refresh there look. I live in a desert area and temperatures in the summer time reach over 120. Sometime they would sit directly exposed to the sun sometimes under the patio. Overall they still look pretty good. The only thing I have had to replace was the pins a few years back because one of my dogs chewed up the plastic handles. Overall they still work great no issues, fast to change weight and well worth the cost.
Well worth the 2 year wait for this review! JK. Glad you gave them a chance and liked them. Scooped my 120 set for around $400 on CL and couldn’t be happier.
I’m glad I found this video .. I have never seen this set up before and you can tell this set is not clunky like the other adjustable sets currently on the market !!
Own them - totally agree with you. I don't have a ton of space for a standard dumbbell rack - I went with these - I did get the additional pair of dumbbell handles - because I tend to switch and circuit alot - and I left a 5🎇 review on their site. I plan on getting the 120# expansion pack soon. The KB I don't recommend - but they are good for KB swings but I find them difficult for the snatch and other KB work. I did get the inner expansion kit - so I took one of my pair handles and permanently made them a fixed 25# DB (with pins) on each side - makes it easier to work if I want a more heavier set off the bat. Nice review - I agree it's a great set especially if you want high quality (lifetime warranty) and a small footprint for a limited space requirement.
I have used the Bowflex 1090, Ironmaster and Powerblock. In my opinion, the Powerblocks are the clear winner up to 90lbs. Anything heavier, I would go with the Ironmasters. Never would I get the Bowflex again. They are too long and delicate. For the average home gym bro, Powerblocks are faster and just as durable as the Ironmasters. Love the content Brandon!
I agree with Mike F; I give the edge to the power Blocks. I commented before, as Brandon demonstrated when doing drop sets, the power Blocks are like a machine weight stack at the gym pull the pin and insert. The power blocks are a different type of dumbbell system. The Iron Master set mimic more a traditional dumbbell. I've owned both sets, While Brandon makes some good points for the Iron master's The Power Blocks are more convenient and take up less space. I bought my power blocks in 1998 and they are durable under normal usage; granted I will never drop them on the floor. I would agree with Brandon clearly the iron masters are more durable if your going to be dropping the weights after each set. By the way i sold my iron master set in 2007 when i moved. Still have and use my Power Block's.
@@robertx65 is it awkard having the grip within the weight on the powerblocks? im debating between the powerblocks vs ironmasters. fyi i never go over 85lbs
“I also didn’t want to invest in a dumbbell set which would be about $2,000 - $3,000 which would be the cost of my entire home gym as is”. After watching your most recent basement tour, I don’t think this statement applies anymore hahaha.
hmm maybe I conconvice my husband to get me a set of these , he likes things simple and well made and these look at it is ...wonder when they will come back in stock
Amazing set. I would've bought these over power bloks 3 years ago, but credit to powerbloks their interface is unmatched. Love going from 10 to 90 in 1 second
Brandon Campbell Diamond matter of personal preference. I sent mine back and got the powerblocks. The 70lb set is all I need so that’s also in my decision.
I absolutely love mine. I had a problem with the center of one of the plates breaking and ironmaster replaced it no questions asked. Great company & great product!
Great review! I always wanted to buy these. W/the pandemic, I finally decided it would be worth it. Of course, they’re sold out. Checked the Pre-owned market and they’re going for 2000 for the 75 base set. 😳
I just wanted to say I purchased the Ironmaster DB with the 120 lb upgrade set after watching this video. I received it today and I'm very satisfied. You saved me money and space from almost purchasing a full set of hex dumbells for more than 3 times the price of the Ironmaster set. Thanks man!
@@BasementBrandon Nothing to dislike about the set so far. It feels no different than regular dumbells, no weird sticking your hand inside like a power block or a fatbell. Just old school DB feel.
My dad has had some old "pro powerblock dumbells", he has had them since i was a baby and and we still use them daily. So they do stand the test of time. Also my home gym is outdoors
Mine are annoying, one handle is smooth while the other one has nice knurl. Debating if I should use hocky tape or anti slip spray from Rustoleum. Either way, it's annoying I have to do this extra step =/ ALSO Indicated weight isn't accurate on Ironmasters BUT, they are consistently not accurate lol. So they're still technically nice. But the downside is that they don't weight what they say they do unless you read the fine print on their site where they mention this. If I remember correctly, each plate is like 4.7lb or something, and it all adds up. The good thing though is that they're consistent in weight, so they're pretty much all 4.7lb lol. But once you go heavy, it'll be off by a few pounds.
I have a pair of Ironmasters that are at least 11 years old. Other than needing an occasional touch-up of Rustoleum these things are a beast. I use a pair of power blocks for lighter stuff but for anything heavy that needs to be dropped you can't beat ironmaster quality.
I have the same set and love them. Don't mind changing the plates, no different than swapping plates on a barbell really. Have gotten faster at it too over time.
@@JoeyHern I've had mine with the 120ib addon for going on two years now and no problems whatsoever. These things are solid. No wonder why they feel confident enough to add a lifetime warranty on them.
@@JoeyHern That's a good question. I'd contact Ironmaster to ask but if I had to say either way then I'd think it would only apply to those bought new.
With the price gouging going on in the used market, this is the perfect time to offload my Bowflex 1090 set for what I paid and order some Ironmasters when they come back in stock.
I used to work in a fitness store that carried Iron Master here in Canada. They really are this good, and I was always baffled whenever someone chose something over them. Truly a great product.
I bought the 75 lb set with the stand and 4 1.25 lb round plates. They're fantastic. The locking mechanism is fast and very secure and I can rest the weights on my knees.
i've had mine for 2 years and love them, got the 120's also and i don't need or want anything else. Went with the power bench and a few attachments for it and they've stood the test of time. Also i use them 5 days a week, so they are not idle. Big props for the vid bro.
Got the 75s and the iron master inclinable bench for 300$ will definitely be buying the expansion kit to 120 and add ons for the bench. They have a lat pulldown machine that attaches to it. Crazy.
I've heard good things about the newer superbench (old one was too high). Sadly I no longer own these as I had an extremely good opportunity to grab some real urethane dbs at a price I couldn't say no to!
This review is awesome, and I'll definitely get my hands on these when this madness ends. Where are they manufactured? I know ironmaster is a UK company, so hopefully it's made there as opposed to something else...Thanks!
@@BasementBrandon thank you so much for the reply and all you do for the community! That's great news that they're made in the UK. Stay safe out there mate
I thought they were US based. If they're UK, I don't understand why it's cheaper in the US then. Number is the same, but the currency is just swapped. My IM dumbbells says on the box that it is made in Taiwan. Not sure if this is the case for all of them though. Nothing stated for the plates though.
Glad I came across you channel! Been trying to build a home gym myself and been using you for the ground work. Thanks for your hard work and keeping me lazy lol
I’m thinking about building a stand for my spinlock dumbells. Wouldn’t be much slower than ironmaster. Spin off the collars, takes not much more time than ironmaster bolts. Swapping plates takes just as much time. I would make a stand where the handle is supported and the weights are off the table top. Easier to swap weights. Then just store the plates on the shelves. The advantage is you could get more spinlock handles and have different weights already set up for warmups or different movements, for not much more cost. Also I can microload with spinlocks, 2 inch barbell fractional plates fit behind the spinlock collars. You can put a fractional plate under just one side, no need to balance them. Also you can rest them on your thighs if you just put the plate on your thigh, not the collar, and it’s fine. I wanted Ironmaster, but I discovered they are unnecessary, and spinlocks will do just fine for less. I mean they’ll actually do more since you can get extra handles for $15-$20.
If they will be with a faster weight screwer, and less confusing (because of you sometime need to count how many plates there are) like as fast as the bowflex weight selection, they will be perfect. The bowflex is long and it is very annoying, and sometimes limiting (shoulder width strict dumbbell curls, less rom on the bench press & shoulder press, etc)
Bowflex are hella flimsy and unreliable. I know my co-worker sold them on Craiglist and bought a set of Powerblocks for himself and Ironmasters for his wife.
I just want to say that the image quality on your videos are topnotch! There are other channels shooting with 8K red cameras and it seems they do not know what the focusing ring on the lens does
To me these are certainly more visually appealing then the bowflex and power block dumbells. But they are exactly the same as spin lock dumbells , u slide the weight on or in the iron masters case line them up and then spin the lock on, only thing different is the flat bottem that makes the spin locks u mention a waist as u cant put them on ur knees befor a set, iron master fixed that problem, but for me personally I have felt with the spin lock dumbells so much its actually tiring taken the weights off and putting them back on the rack and setting up for ur next set, these iron masters remind me of just that, a pain, although they look amazing , the powrblock pros version not only look good but they feel great and are so convenient, no more stacking plates away and it's all in one, I can just pick them both up and take them where ever I want without bringing all the plates with me if i where to have the iron master , but to each there own
These take a fraction of the time as spinlocks, don't dig into you as you mentioned, and can be loaded up to 160lbs without the use of bigger diameter plates. The powerblocks feel awkward when using and don't hold up as well with heavy use.
@@jeffmalm9708 Quicker change but definitely not better (unless indestructibility doesn't matter to you). I hear of a lot more powerblocks breaking than Ironmasters which makes sense seeing there's really nothing aside from steel and threading on IMs.
Couldn't agree with you more on you Ironmaster review. I've owned the 75 lb. set and the adjustable kettlebell for about 5 years. They are fantastic for everything I've used them for. I also heard the complaint about the time required to change weights if you are circuit training. I've really never had a problem with that. If there are better adjustable dumbbells out there, I haven't found them.
I’m getting the 75 and 120 pound add on for Father’s Day. I was thinking about the new pepin ones but man, they are over 2,000. Iron master just makes sense for the cost and the fact that they can not be destroyed lol.
I found myself here because of the impossibility of buying dumbbells in the UK with the Corona virus situation. I found someone on a classified ads website selling these for 2000 British pounds - such is the high demand here with all the shops having sold out! Even the standard traditional York iron dumbbells are being sold on th second hand market for obscene prices. Same thing over in the States? Great review btw.
I have these ironmasters up to 120#. Love them. Had them since 2012. Sill solid. Still Strong. I also have the KB attachment which rocks. I will say though that I do not like their adjustable Bench (too tall off the ground and too narrow and too cumbersome)(I'm 6'3'')
I've got the bench and it's a good fit for me (5'7"). I do have to put a couple of small plates under my feet for optimum height, so there's that. Really versatile piece of kit though and well built...
I had my power blocks for over 10 years now! 10 YEARS of constant use!!! Best dumbbells ever produced! You can adjust the weight in seconds. Mine can be adjusted from 5 lbs all the way to 100. Not a sign of rust or decay or any other issue with them. So when you say that "they were kinda a little bit shitty" or that they don't give you feel of a real dumbbell - I don't know that the f are you talking about!!!
@@BasementBrandon No but my father made identical design in his shop. I mean they looked differently but the key design elements are 100% identical. They were great but NOT as convenient and fast as PowerBlocks. Now maybe powernlocks wouldn't survive 20ft drop but where I'm from - we're not dropping our weights ;) The bottom line is that they are most definitely NOT shitty. It's preposterous to say that they are.
I grabbed a set of these plus the 120 add on set on Black Friday. I think the discount they were offering at the time was 10% off. I had been wanting a set of these for well over 8 years. I found myself wanting to get a little workout in at home from time to time and I finally pulled the trigger. Extremely happy with the purchase. There has not been a question what brand of adjustable dumbbells I was going to buy when the time came. I have tried out some others and while the weight changes may have been slightly easier they lacked the indestructible feeling of the Ironmasters.
I'd never heard of the IronMaster Dumbbells before. Great review! Probably won't change them out for my Bowflex 1090's though. I gotta say, I am quite happy with my Bowflex dumbbells, but I might have gone with the IronMaster's if I'd heard of them before.
Wow these are exactly what ive been looking for. Ive had a set of golds gym adjustable ones for many years and they have served me well but ive outgrown their 50lbs max. Gonna have to put thought into that price tag though.
I commented because of your Rhode Island flag! Ha Gotta have Hope! I have a 120 lbs pair of Iron Master dumbells. I purchased them back in 2001 and they are probably the best purchase I've ever made. Mine have the old horseshoe design for the plates which have 5 lbs increments. I would not trade them for anything! I've been looking at the kettlebell recently too. Can't go wrong with Iron Master!
I have two sets of Powerblocks which my workout buddy and I have used 2-3X per week for over 15 years. Both still going strong (the Powerblocks, not us). Admittedly I don't put them in cement mixers or kick them down stairs, but hey, that's just me.
Powerblocks look different, but when you get past that - they are the best. Durable as hell. Nothing to break. Amazing size and they go from 5lbs to 120each ay 2.5lbs increments. I have them for 4 years. They are amazing
Cool I purchased the NX500 2 years ago based on your review. I'm still loving the camera. too bad they decided to stop the camera line. I'm thinking of an upgrade now.
Thanks for the review. Was trying to figure out if I wanted this or the Powerblocks. Started leaning towards this because of the kettlebell handle available. Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Ira Glass?
