Do you still have the panda mini car? And would you consider selling it? I need a golf cart style vehicle I can take down the side streets to CVS and the grocery store less than 1 mile from my home. I showed your video to an officer who lives on my street ad he said it would be fine for me. Hope you reply. Thank you
Have you ever checked out there AIPAS e cargo bike? The dual battery is on sale plus a coupon brings it down to $1,600. Unfortunately, it does not have the rear seat accessories like LECTRIC.
The cheapest route to go requires 3 skills…..being Mechanically inclined, good fabrication skills, and being very Knowledgeable in ebike Components. And for a extra bonus….Building you’re own is very fun, and you will know that bike like the back of your hand….No more having to take yours to a bike shop.
@@Another-Address not everyone can afford everything they want. I've seen Walmart sell e-bikes for $400 on sale. They most likely aren't as good or reliable as these other well-known brands.
I bought an eBike last year. It was used with only 70 miles on it. We live in the mountains and 5 miles from town. I can coast all the way into town, but coming home is up the mountain. We live far enough out of town that we have a PO Box in town and my dad’s pharmacy is also in town. 2 trips into town and back is a gallon of gas in my car, so it’s nice to have a bike with battery assist when needed, plus it’s great exercise for late spring, summer and late fall (until our 5-7 feet of snow hits our area). I can also put my bike in the bed of my pickup and drive into the city and ride on the “Loop Trail” (15 miles) on both sides of the Columbia River here in north central Washington state.
I see in more recent videos Micah is addressing the market for lower priced ebikes. I would love to see more call-out to specific components that make these ebikes priced as they are. Additionally it would be great if Micah can address the upgradability of some of these components later on, if and when they start malfunctioning. (I.e. whether certain components can be fixed by user or requires a visit to bike shop or parts availability to general public etc.)
E-bikes are like any other bike, all components are upgradable and can be done by the owner should they want to learn to do it. He called out the specific components that were noteworthy… torque sensor, hydraulic brakes etc
I totally agree with what you said near the end. Also, it's a good list of affordable e-bikes, but the Lectric XP 3.0 is probably THE best value on this list. Folding portability, hydraulic brakes, 28 mph, great cargo capacity, decent battery size, and the cheapest on this list. I know the XP is a good seller, but I think it's still underrated. If I already don't own an e-bike the XP 3.0 would be on my short list.
I went e-bike riding for the first time a month ago. I really enjoyed the experience. My friend rented me a Pedego bike for the day and there was a small learning curve, but I really had fun until the lady in front of me, in the group ride, stopped suddenly, and to keep from running into her, I hit the ground and the bike fell on me. It was at that moment that I really realized how heavy the Pedego bike was and I thought that was how all e-bikes were. After viewing your video, I learned a lot, especially about the weight of e-bikes. With this information, I can shop for an e-bike that I can handle and be able to lift on my own. I am 69 years old, (but I think I'm 29) and I still enjoy somewhat strenuous activity. Thank you for giving good informative information. I have friends much younger than myself who walk with canes, but again, I think you are as old as you think you are. Enjoy life - ride a bike!
If you just need a little extra help (class 1), many of the smaller battery options should be be sufficient. It's a nice balance between heavy, long-range e-bike and a normal bike. Even with my class 2 e-bike, I tend to only use the lowest assist level. It tends to overcome the weight difference nicely. Class 1 or 2 e-bikes stop assistance at 20mph, so that's about as fast as most folks ride them. Whereas, I can get my normal bike up to 40 mph if I really huff it.
Overpriced. So over priced its not even funny. If your first budget option is 3x the price of the Walmart option no one is going to take this seriously. Not your fault but the market itself is out of touch. We need 800-1k options. I refuse to spend an entire check on a bike. It's like regular cars costing 40-50k. No one is going to pay that. Get real.
Gotta get with the times man. $800 isn’t what it used to be . If the price of the cheapest option here is a whole check for you then you maybe should consider other income options rather than complaining.
@@philliptownsend2829 and you think getting a new job and making more money to afford things is easy? The economy and systems that was there for older folks is not there anymore. I advise looking into this so you can see other people's realistic situations better.
@zackp.6557 it's easy. If you want more money, just make more. If you're homeless, just live in a home. If you're hungry the just eat. Don't you know the solutions are that easy?
Micah this is an awesome thing youre doing! You not only do great reviews but helping people out like things is very kind of you!! You get back what you give in life and I wish you much good health and success
Great list of bikes Micha. Always appreciate your genuine nature and good hearted energy. I always look forward to checking out your videos when they release. Keep doing great things!
Hi, had been an e-bike user here in the Philippines since 2019. Really learned a lot from your channel. Been using it as my main means of transport, now as utility to bring grandkid to school and leisure. Loved your channel.
Glad I stayed to the end, you standing behind your beliefs and speaking up in a video instead of playing it safe to keep the viewers, much respect! And I agree healthcare is a huge problem in America and shouldn't be, no matter what side of the isle you stand on.
I just moved to Austin, I’m in recovery trying to straighten my life up because I have a daughter. I’ve been struggling to get to and from work and I’m just trying to be the best man I can everyday. Really looking to get an e-bike soon but I can’t afford it right now because most of my money is spent on rent and my daughter. 🙁 maybe later In the future.
I’m 63 yrs old and I’m very excited and looking forward to my first e-bike so that I can get active. Riding with my 8yr old son will be a joy. At the moment I don’t know how I’m going to afford it but if necessary I will go with the bottom of the basement until I can do better. Thanks for your video.
My dad got a big wheel ebike now we have to get rid of it because the centre bar makes it hard for him to get on and off. He has fallen a couple of times as a result. He really needs a 3 wheel ebike that allows stepping across to to get on. I really enjoy seeing your videos and learning about ebikes. His 2nd bike will be a much better fit for an old person.
Thanks for what you're doing! plenty of people can't afford an ebike, but one will change their lives so much! Do we need to enter the draw after every video, or is the entry saved from the first time?
Another one to add to the list is the Ride1Up LMT'D. It's a great all round bike with 27.5 x 2.4 tires, 750 watt motor, color display, torque sensor, hydraulic brakes, throttle and real 28 mph speed. It weighs only 53 lbs and sells for $1395.
I’ve been wanting an e bike for a year now because I can’t afford to keep fuel in my moped, my family can’t afford to drive me places so I’ve been looking for an e bike for ages, I’m going to start saving up after watching this video, thanks man
I've learned so much from you. It's so hard navigating all the features, models and pitfalls of purchasing an ebike. I've tried winning a bike every chance I can. Maybe one day!! 😂
Excellent video and as an owner of a highly modified Velotric ST1 (in orange), I must say that it is my go-to bike for everyday use and just plain fun! I also have a Tern HSD S11, but it has been sitting idle for over a month. On my ST1, I changed the pedals, the stem, remounted the headlight, added a suspension seatpost (Suntour), a motion-detecting brake light to a Topeak rack, and Pirelli lower-pressure tires to soften the ride. The bike is a blast! Now, more importantly, I applaud your statement about health care. It never ceases to amaze me how our political system has been so corrupted by the money from lobbyists like the AMA and the insurance industry. It amazed me that the Affordable Care Act actually became law and yet every year Congress attempts to tear it apart. And don;t get me started on guns....thanks for your comments!
Great content and commentary! I'm in a similar situation to Carlos G, so one way or another and for health and economic reasons, an ebike is something I need and need knowledge to get the most bang for the buck.
🇺🇲here...Perfect timing.. retired n considering an affordable, laid back scoot around..but still play on my jetski when I have a need-for-speed..so I'm not dead yet, lol😂..love your vids💯...that $1000 boat one was a hoot👍..and your comment regarding our poor USA health care options here was soooo "spot on"..thx you for saying it out loud✅ ❤
Thanks for all you do. You are providing useful thorough info. Moreover you have partnered with giants in the industry to help those stifled by cost to get a free bike. You make a positive difference in the status quo. You rock.
11:48 am. You my friend are the best in this category of media info. Berry likable. Totally professional. And the real deal. As well as easy on the eyes. Voice is perfect.oh by the way I need a bike. Thank you for being you
Can you do an updated video for e-bikes for heavy Riders, we're talking like 350 to 400 lb Riders? Please? I think it's a video that a lot of people out there want to see with what's New on the market. Maybe do a subcategory of E Mountain bikes for riders that are pushing 350 to 400 lb. Top 5 in each category, That would be awesome!
I’m sure you’ll get some flak for talking about healthcare so I figured I’d chime in and let you know there are many of us who agree 100% with you and appreciate you bringing it up, myself included.
I'm watching these videos one after another I am saving to get one. I'm older living on low income, just working part time due to disability and this is all I need to survive with independence I have everth8ng in about a 20 mile range of home so with basket good charge I cab travel to work store dr. I just can't afford car insurance upkeep gas or a car period thanks you are at least helping me make great decisions keep the videos coming I be a pro when I get the dream bike of my own.
I was given an older used Prodeco Phantom X ebike to help recover from a bad injury. The battery is bad and Prodeco is out of business. I want to rebuild it. I have a solder station and am good with soldering. (Have taken past electronics courses.) My battery cells are Lifepo4.. The flat cells. None look swollen. But, The battery is 15 yrs old. It works but bogs down real quick. Where's the best place to get those cells? Does your book cover this battery technology? I saw videos of you rebuilding using the cylindrical cells, but I'd rather use the original cells for fitment purposes. It's tight in the original battery box.
You missed the Jetson Bolt Pro. In my opinion the best budget e-bike. It’s super compact which is awesome for storage, it’s lovely for 1-2 hours of riding and best of all it’s quite affordable.
Thanks. I like your videos. Just learned the difference between cadence and torque sensor, awesome! I have a request, Could you have a look at the Randride YS90 ( it's Randride Explorer in the U.S.)? Is it a high grade or low grade ebike? Thanks again.
I am from Zimbabwe and i enjoyed watching your videos and hopefully i will be able get money and purchase one as model in my country since i am a renewable energy entreprenuer.
I just got a 4500 euros (used, 2022 model) ebike as a gift from my brother. Its 27kg weight, 625Wh power and i love its a downhill type, so the handles are high almost as on a city bike. By mysels i could probably afford a 1000 euros bike in a few months, if i would not spend on silly things.
something else to note, at this price point you really will get a superior product building your own ebike if you have the time. Not so much in the higher priced bracket but definitely in the sub 1000 area.
Not sure I'd call $1500 - $1000 bikes "cheap / low cost" To me cheap is going to be sub $1000 and likely sub $800. My last ebike cost me $700 and I just bought another for just under $500. For me so long as they last a year I'm happy. After 1 year of commuting I have saved more than I would have spent on mass transit. Meaning the bike has paid for itself. In general I put in a little over 7000KM a year commuting.
Walmart has many awesome ebikes for very low money. I bought an Ecotric Vector 26" for just $600. bucks ...and I love it! * There are less expensive models available as well!
With throttles always go a THUMB THROTTLE in 8 years of custom e-bikes I’ve never seen thumb throttles break and go full throttle. With full handgrip twist throttles I’ve seen 8 go full throttle and almost end up in bikes running away without rider( flipping over) and almost breaking shop windows etc. just thought I’d say something about twist throttles 👍🫶
1300 is affordable for who? Sure as hell is not affordable for me hell, I managed to come up with $400 and I’m sitting on top of the world with it Believing I got a little bit of change in my pocket $1300 for a bike is a rip off a scam. There’s no bike or electrical or not. That is worth this kind of money.
If you have affiliate links to these bikes, you should address the exact way in which that is not affecting which bikes you’ve chosen to recommend. Unless I don’t understand this link stuff at all…
Thank you for your Videos they were very helpful on the desion of which ebike I should buy for myself. It was a big purchase for me and I wanted to make the right one . I love my New Philodo AWD. Thanks again from me and Mr Phil 😂
Please answer this dumb question for me.. Can i use a 36 volt 350 watt motor from a scooter with a 36 volt battery and a button to bypass the controller? I mean hit the button and it gets full power. Will that hurt anything?
Thanks for making these videos I have already learned a lot that I didn't know. I like the the second one, best. I've been riding a regular old 5 speed bike since my car broke down and now I'm getting used to riding my bike to work but on the way there it's mostly uphill but I sure do enjoy the ride back since I don't have to pedal as much ! I have been looking at e-bikes and I almost bought one today for less than a hundred bucks on a Best Buy website that I thought was legit. I'm almost retirement age and should have known better but I almost fell for it. Maybe you can make a video to warn people about e-bike scams. I found out there are many out there. I enjoyed watching this and subscribed since I plan on being an "e-biker" someday soon.
Can you do a video kinda like you did with the trikes but for e-bikes? I came to your channel for e-bike reviews and info but I’m seeing a lot of mixed stuff.
I had put an entry in months ago; do we need to put new entries in each time? I spent over $50 on the local taxi last month, to go less than a mile from my apartment, all for either prescriptions, tests at the hospital or an appointment. Medicare transportation is so overwhelmed, they showed up at 8am for a 2:30 appointment..and I wasn’t even up yet. Also, I stupidly paid a neighbor, in advance, to take me to the Laundrymat..I haven’t done laundry in months because it costs so much (I hand-wash what I need in a bucket and hang it on my porch or inside). The last time I paid the taxi to take me it was $160 because they help me carry the bags. It’s only about 1/2 mile round trip..with a bike, I could take a small load every few days. Considering I asked my neighbor if she could please take me this weekend..she wants another $50 to take me because she’s “out of gas and short on money”. I assume that first $50 is now…🤷🏼♀️. An unintentional gift I couldn’t afford…but, I should know better. She DID offer to do my sheets in her apartment for another $20..I just don’t have it right now.
One lower cost ebike that I like to use is the Aostirmotor S18-1500 ebike with a 1500 watt motor and usually when the battery is fully charged, I can get the bike up to 33 to 35 mph and it comes with full suspension.
So I'm pretty new to this e bike stuff but for example in the 1st one he showed, if there is no throttle, how do you engage the electric motor? I thought the point of this was to have a throttle and move the bike with the motor hence not needing to pedal?
im planning to buy the jasion eb5 350w but im positive it has that less fancy pas but im still getting it road my fams bike he has one and i was suprised it pulled my 230lbs butt around like it was nothing
Hub or Mid motor or IGH / Cadence or Torque / Chain or belt Most reviews and comparisons are made w/ bike's spec itself only under circumstance wide open area either on flat or hills. However, "in terms of which is better/efficient" could be totally different in certain situations including myself, those who live in heavy traffic city dealing w/ cars, signals and bunch of people each block that requires stopping and starting on a frequent basis. As someone mentioned in other topic, Mid-motor could be pain in the ass shifting gears constantly which possibly could also end up spending more $$ maintenances switching chains/drivetrain more often without getting full benefit of Mid-motor's advantage in heavy traffic area. (on the other hand, I heard Mid-motor has more range then Hub w/ same battery spec ?) How about IGH with belt ? Is it considerably heavier then Hub / Mid motor ?
Would you mind checking out EMFs for the EVs you use as that is a super important topic to talk about since its health related also can you check the mini-truck AYRO since it seems like a scam? Thanks
What don't any of the e-bike reviewers out there do swerve tests for ebikes, like they do for both cars (the moose test) and for motorcycles. With the heavier weights on ebikes, I would really like to see that sort of thing. Real world urban bicycling invovles swearving off and on side walk ramps and going around parked car to avoid other traffic. I like do hearing the word "agile".
I've looked at some of the very cheap ebikes on Amazon and ebay and a few of them look fit for purpose, typically they would be hub motor based with simple 1x dri vetrains and no suspension just thicker tyres and perhaps a sprung saddle. Also the parts look very generic and easy to swop out if necessary. I feel like some of the cheap ebikes are actually great value but wonder if I'm missing something?
Hey Mike, I've been watching you for some time now and somehow I got unsubscribed, but that's fixed now. I am getting ready to build my first 48v battery from scratch. I'm looking for information from everywhere and your old 5 and 6year old tutorials really was informative more than most others and it checked all the boxes that I was still wondering about. Mainly the cell configuration, shape and how to connect each cell to each other cell in that serial parallel dual type of connection. So for that I humbly thank you. Has there been any innovations or new concepts in the energy flow or methods of connecting the cells as of late? Any info or opinion you could offer would be appreicated. Thanks, Wikkid
