Hello Marc ,first time youtube recommend you, happy for that🙂. I was looking for professional entry grade setup ,not very expensive , I am very impressed about HD-TX ,but struggling to buy Rode NTG or XLR microphone with it. Your sound is very impressive 👏. So I am in little between s-mic 2 and 2s,however for indoors, studio environment this setup seems 👌.
Honestly I feel you. There are definitely great micro budget options. But if you'd like to show up on set in a pro environment this is premo per price equipment.
I got curious about this mic because today, I saw a tweet saying internal recording and transmission is now possible with an official firmware update. Along that, it also now allows SD format and check capacity, revamped USB menu, and the ability to use it as a USB Audio interface for PC, Mac and smartphone (I assume at least iOS, Android, though it doesn't specify).
So if you were to use this mic but didn’t want it in the shot, would you have to stay pretty tight and have it on a boom stick? Would it be best to be below or above the frame?
If I just want a small XLR recorder and not going to use the wireless transmission, is it worth to get this? Is it suitable to just attach a pencil condenser mic to record singing vocal and instruments that way? And a MKE 600 shotgun mic to it to record elements and sound effects for game development? Should I record vocal and instruments in separate or same track? Can I record both the XLR and 3.5mm jack at same time in same and different tracks? Is it possible and should I tho to record a front facing MKE 440 stereo mic to the 3.5mm jack and a rear facing MKE 600 to the XLR port attach to a HC-X1500 camcorder to record the front environment sound and also my commentary voice at same time? Can I use it as a high res music player so I don't need to buy another dedicated music device which function just like an audio recorder that can't record high res audio but better at organisation to play music?
I’m a newbie here. The Whole time Im like when is he gonna take out the mic and use it. At the end of the video; ohhh he is using it. The foam cover was confusing me. 😅
Hi! Awesome vid! Ok, I’m a complete sound-rookie and was hoping you could help me understand the difference between XLR and 3.5mm mics. Does one sound better than the other? Or does the whole advantage of XLR resides on the cables (more reliable, less interference) and not on the microphones themselves? Or am I missing something? If that was the case though, and if I happen to be someone who preferred to keep things simple and not to buy one of each… Couldn’t I get the best of both worlds by buying a 3.5mm mic (which tend to be more versatile, like the D3 Pro) and just use your 3.5mm to XLR converter when I needed the reliability of an XLR cable?
Sound usually has more to do with the actual mic than the connection, but there are advantages to the XLR, like more reliable connection, and the ability to plug into pro audio interfaces. However, I get where you are coming from, as I was in the same place for a long time. I'd highly recommend the RØDE videomic ntg as your all in one mic. 3.5mm jack, as well as USBC for plugging into other devices. It also has a lightning adapter to plug into your iPhone. Super versatile, sounds great, has great features, can't go wrong. If you're looking for 1 mic to do it all, that's probably the one.
Thanks for explaining so well, helped a lot. I just got Deity S-mic2s for Sony-Fx3 for run and gun shoot. I am getting lots of handling noise through mic, is there a way to get around this? Thanks
Hell yea it is! You should watch my how to start a RU-vid Channel vid, the audio quality is AMAZING! The iPhone mic is so underrated! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ppgq_UwIYDk.html
