I think I must do a reread of Seven Husbands! It’s been so many people’s favorites, and I also really liked it…but have forgotten the story. I struggled with Ethan Frome as well. I'm planning a re-read of Huckleberry Finn this year and I'm hoping to read James in close proximity. Have not read an Everett yet and very much looking forward to it.
That's a great plan. I hope you love James as much as I do. I keep meaning to read more of Everett's work. I've read 3 of his books, but I think that's only about 10% of what he's written.
@@PageTurnersWithKatja I don't think you will be disappointed. Wolf Hall starts a little slowly, but soon gets into a great rhythm. I know it is a cliche but it is very much a page turner.
I’m going to look at _Crossings._ What I suppose to be an important topic which I haven’t given thought to, nor knew there was a book till now. I liked _Ethan Frome_ but it was potentially depressive. 🤔
I think you'll enjoy Crossings 😊, individual stories bring the book, and the topic of road ecology to life. Ethan Frome is well written, but so bleak 😕
The seven husbands of evelyn hugo is so great and one of my favourites in the year that I read it as well! I have seen so many people loving James lately and I'm glad you're finding it so masterful as well. My sister tried reading womb city and couldn't get past the first chapter with the writing style, and so I understand your review. And in the end I decided to remove it from my tbr wishlist. I haven't actually seen any reviews of when the moon hatched before but I didn't really have any interest in it... and it doesn't sound very balanced and like one I should skip.
I need to read more from Taylor Jenkins Reid 💛. Womb City was over ambitious and Chapter 1 already gives you an indication if that but I had a review copy and ploughed on 😅 When the Moon Hatched has such a high rating, it's considered a tik tok sensation
That's so funny that we have opposite views of Ethan Frome! For your sake, good thing it was short. For What You Seek... I have a question. Is there a cat in the book? I've noticed that the past few books I've read there is a cat in the cover but absolutely no cat in the story which is kind of disappointing for me.
I remember the librarian giving the people random book recommendations e.g. someone looking for books about computers getting that and a kids book and a random mini gift 🎁 but if there's a cat, I've forgotten it 🫣😅 Good point though, maybe book cover designs for Japanese books now include cats where there are none 🤔
John, that sounds like a good idea. It's really well written, and if you don't mind depressing themes, you might like it. I think Jess and Deea both do.
Why aren’t more people talking about “what you are looking for?” I read it right after Days at Morisake” that was such a disappointment but everyone was talking about!! 😤
