I have this flash drive but I have the 32 GB version. I think it's a great product. SanDisk has never disappointed me.

I once had issue with 8gb sd card. I went to claim warranty and they gave me 32gb one✌🏻

I have an older version of this that came out for micro usb. It gets so hot no matter how or to what it is connected to, that I sparingly use it. I place it above a pc fan during backup to minimize any potential thermal throttling. If this one has metal, I could see it being safer and better.

@@TheNetGuy I have my eye on one of the Samsung 256GB models as it's supposed to be the fastest flash drive and I'm happy w/the two 64GB versions I purchased some time ago.

I have USBs with photos and files already. I want to view on my andriod. Is there an adapter to do this?

As long as it has a USB-C connector this will work great. If not you may have to go with a different device.

I thought you just plug it in and BOOM! Good to go. Mine says usb charging device connected then pops up restart device connection not available. 😡

@@TheNetGuy Yes. Had to down load the SanDisk memory zone for android app before use. I'm sure there are other ways out there.

@jamesbrown4651 yeah if you want the backup software experience it needs that. The other option is to just set it as storage but it’s better with the app. Glad it’s working 👍

Instead of the USB stick, could you also use a SanDisk Portable SSD to create an android backup using the SanDisk app?

Hi. I bought one of these . I like a privacy concept of HD BU. However, SAN DISK and Western Digital have T&C that are anything but private: they can retrieve your data, even delete it! I don't want this . Can you provide an idea with a HD backup that no corporation is mining and spying on?

Maybe I wasn't doing something right but I returned it as it would not transfer videos over 4gb. Not fit for my purpose. Don't have a computer to format it.

That’s too bad. By default many things come formatted for FAT32 vs ExFAT. Even GoPros will break videos at 4GB for compatibility. Hopefully you found something that will work for you 👍

You cannot automatically or manually backup photos or videos from your microSD card, to usb flash drive, using the SanDisk memory zone android app. Useless app

That stinks. Are you saying it can only backup internal storage? Does your app have access to external storage?

I just received my SanDisk 256 GB DD USB Type-C yesterday. But, when I connected into the port on my Android phone it would not stay in. It keeps falling out. Which left me wondering why?

People should recommend only stuff after 1year or lobger of use than its much safer to say if its really suitable for backups ect. Unboxibg stuff and using it a week or so is a joke for any recommendation of anything not only bachup drives, that's why most unboxing videos and similar are useless, beside to see what's included in the package.

Definitely harder on new products. Just search for “1 year later [product name]” if concerned about long term. For what it’s worth this Sandisk has been amazing - for over a year ;)

For android you can backup everything, for iPhone it’s photos, ideas, and contacts

Oh it’s a traditional usb drive - so it would be perfect for that. I was thinking you were asking about it’s use in mobile devices. Since the steam deck is a PC it would be fine.

Oh shoot man. Sorry about that, I thought maybe my editor cut it out of the clip but apparently I didn’t do that test during the live show either. When I get back tonight I’ll test it on PC and Mac and let you know the throughput. Ironically I did it for the other two storage keys on the show, just not this one.
