This is a book that is a must have for all us plant nerds! I have the older version somewhere around the house, and am planning to get the new edition in the near future. Thanks for the overview Alex!
Of course! It is an epic book. The new edition is 30% large or so... and way better photos...which is saying something , since the first 2 editions are worth owning instead/also
Thoroughly enjoyed this one!!(but really, I haven't found one that I didn't enjoy 😁😂👍) I have been watching on my fire stick so there's a bunch of videos, I haven't left comments on! I really want you to know that what you are doing with this book and sharing it with us is really excellent! Thanks Alex keep them coming! I hope you have a blessed and beautiful day my friend! Much love from my family to yours! 🤗💚🌿🐟🌱🙏
Thank you. I actually use more research of peer reviewed articles on a given subject than from any one book...however, her photos and quick fact run downs are extremely useful to get the research going. Things like the tid bit that the man who discovered A. Ulvaceus was afraid to fly and named 13 madagascar specific species, while only having been in Europe his whole life- I simply started to look up the other species he named and then found journal articles in Dutch, which Google translate was able to convert for me freely...and he admits that he was affraid of flying in the "background" section of a lab write up. So even though that sort of research or content isn't really at all pertinent to taking care of the plant, I like to think it is what makes my videos a bit unique perhaps. As always, thanks for tuning in, I really appreciate it 🙏
My talk to text, lol it doesn't understand my southern accent 😂"The Secret History Living in Your Aquarium"... You keep it interesting and the first time I heard that title, I knew it was going to be something good 😁 and it definitely is. Great channel Alex!
@@Fishtory neat I didn’t know they carried books too! Edit: I just checked their website and they have apparently stopped taking online orders. Very sad.
@@Fishtory i tried to during the live streambut I was changing a fuel pump in a Hyundai at the same time so it was hard for me to go back and forth haha
Some very astute women aquarium/authors....sadly I don't see so many women professionals here on youtube. Not that it matters as I'm sure there are women aquarium keepers and who also aqua scape as well. I don't see any aquascapers ever in the big contests either. Just saying what I'm seeing. Is the climate issues still important when buying plants from sellers who grow their own? It seems to matter from my experience with orchids and I guess the basic requirements for growing still exist even though they don't ever come directly from original "source"
Yes the climate issue is still important, as you say. As for women in the hobby...i agree, we need far more women in media roles if we want it to reflect the millions of women fish keepers in the hobby. I hope young women learn about the achievements of women in the past and feel empowered and welcome in the hobby
