Red/Blue Columbian Tetra is another that I keep in an unheated tank. The tank remains at a steady 20C for the most part and yet gets as low as 16C when doing water changes... Been going strong for about a year now... The Cochu's Blue Tetra is another that I keep in the same tank and does well in colder temps... There are so many that do indeed adapt because of their breeding in captivity. For instance, I have Amano Shrimp (Juniper) that are breeding in freshwater too (Yeah, not brackish at all), and they are doing very well... Do you know if I can use reptisand in my fish tank? I amready have the reptisand but I havent found any information if is safe to use. I dont have any fish yet, im preparing. The tank and I bought a bag of the cheapest aquasoil but it only covers about 1 inch or 1.5 deep...do you think I should buy one extra bag or would it be better to add an 1 inch of sand on top
An indicator of calcium/calcium carbonate can be found by making ice from unfiltered tap water in your freezer. Put a few cubes in a clear glass, and let the ice melt. Then stir it up. If you see white particles floating in the water, that'll be calcium carbonate. The effect is like a snow globe using London tap water!
Devils Lake ND grows unusually large scuds that produce record growing yellow perch. Often times the scuds come flowing out of ice holes. Another large scud factory is the Bighorn River.
You aren't supposed to keep different shrimp together? 😬 uh-oh. Soooo vampire, bamboo, neocardina, babaulti, zebra, blue zebra, pinnochio, short nose, sulawesi white socks, green lace... they say no? 😅 They seem fine, not stressed. And live with fish, hillstream, snails.. all the neos are breeding...thanks for the video confirming it is OK to combine.

@Fishtory I just wanted to chime in on the use of Methylene Blue. I attended a talk at Milwaukee Aquarium Society given by Rob McClure. He has stopped using this method and instead uses Alder cones. It’s been confirmed by a renowned PHD Microbiologist that Methylene Blue gets in the Cory eggs causes damage to soft tissue. Eyes, gills, and around the spine. I would be happy to get you connected with Rob he’s a great resource and so grateful to have him in our club.

I love the overstocked look but would like to do it ethically. I always overstock either nano fast breeding fish such as guppies and mollies or cardinal tetras
Old video but no, we all can’t just “get along” when one group of people wants to subjugate and lesson the quality of life for one group of people for the others benefit. China can go screw a knife. Taiwan should remain a free state. The only people who say “why cant we all just get along” are people who view the world through a “no violence” lens which is unrealistic af when you look everywhere in nature. Violence is everywhere and the only people who can’t fathom why are those who are incapable of it. Look at chimps. Baboons. Gorillas. All primates related to us that brutalize the living 💩 out if each other because “resources”. Its not some grand mystery dude 😂
Is there a way to contact you? I’ve been breeding for awhile & came out with some info you may find interesting. For instance a guppy / Endler offshoot led to glass belly batches where the males have some Endler spots and colors. I never used any glass belly.
We talk on the Facebook group and have subscribers/members chats about genetics or spawning. I'm sure other's would find it interesting as well , over there
Hey Alex So in my deep substrate, i use organic potting mix, not dirt under the sand just because i feel this pre-dirt dirt is better than dirt thats already at the end of breaking down. This sound right too you?
Hehe they're not really for sale usually, because they die so easily. But once I a blue moon, they turn up on their own in very clean and 0 nitrate water

Green sunfish are good pets if you want a largemouth but don't have the space. You can keep a pair in a 75 gallon. And they're a lot of fun. You can feed them crickets and nightcrawlers as their main food source.
I enjoy watching and being refreshed and taught new things in the hobby. There are many things i don't understand about the hobby, and i get overwhelmed by some things, but you've helped me get more of an understanding back of the basics and other matters. And i truly appreciate it. Your work is very important to simple people like me 😅
The Goldie’s I just don’t get unfortunately, yes they are cute and chubby but i feel it is just cruel to the fish and will not buy them or encourage this anymore 😢 Unless it is breeding for the benefits ( same with breeding in dogs) It should be left alone and breaks my heart to see . But we still love them and people will still buy and do what makes money, it’s all for humans entertainment and I’m probably a little tree hugger. 😂 lots of beautiful fish without having to change or alter for our enjoyment ❤ Another great video. You look much better than last live. Hopefully you’re on the way to feeling much better. You’re gonna kick this! Also this heatwave is insane everywhere. Hoping for no more heat related issues in your tanks. You def should get at least a portable air unit for your comfort too. My daughter found one on Amazon (of course😆). No holes to make, no window mount, made a big diff. Their upstairs heat pump gave out. No substantial rain has fallen nor is in forecast since first week of June here in western MD. Crisp vegetation, grass, gardens, all suffering. Wildlife seeking water from my various birdbaths and DIY rock fountain. Can’t stay outside without gasping for relief from the humidity. Hope you and all us get some relief soon. Also wish safety and shelter for those caught up in the path of Beryl hurricane. I’m afraid we’ll see more of its kind as this summer progresses. Thank you for your glorious singing….carries our woes away if just for the moment☺☮❤🐠🦐🪴

Alex, where did you get your beautiful guppies. The blonde and rainbow metallic snake skin omg i just love them they are soo pretty. I have a female guppy that has a similar pattern as the snake skin one but nowhere nearly as beautiful as your. I had to replay a few times to catch what they were 😅 my kids make too much noise while im watching live 😂
I feel stupid for asking😅 does that mean the living room light also? Since when thats turned on i can see my tank top to bottom, or does that not count 😂
