Will your fan and heatsink tactics here work/fit with either a 6s or two 3s batteries? Also, can the fans simply plugNplay into the spare ESC port using a jst styled plug?
Yes, you can choose to hook your high powered 40mm fans into their own separate 3s battery like I do. (Into the balance terminal) or if your running two 3s batteries in your rig you can simply run your fans into one of the balance terminals… allthough that might not be ideal to suck power from just one of the two, not sure if that would create an issue with one being drained faster then the other.. probably not. So for two 3s batteries, it might behoove you to construct a splitter that sucks power from both 3s batteries evenly. Regarding hooking one or both of your 40mm fans to a 6s battery, this is totally doable. I still recommend using the balance terminal to do so… you could covert the end (like the one I use to go into a 3s balance terminal) into a 6s version. The downside to plugging directly into a 6s battery is our throughing too much power (25.2v) at these fans and they are more likely to go out sooner if you do. So ideally you want to run to 3s power because its 11.1 v… and these fans are rated up to 12v. That why I run a small 850mah battery (and tuck it into the top of my roll cage. I don’t draw from my main powersource unevenly. lastly… yes you can run one or both 40mm fans from your ESC using a JST connector (w/splitter if two fans)… many do… but heres the downside… your subject to pushing only 6v or 7.4v to the fans. Depending on what your ESC is pushing. 6v is half power (regarding the full capabilities of the killer fans), still a little better then the stock fan.. but not much as far as air flow goes. Or. if your ESC is pushing 7.4v then your running the fans at about 65% of their capabilities. Pretty good… but not maximizing if you know what I mean… if your running hot.. then you want full power to these fans. Lastly, watch this video there’s a better way to hook these 40mm fans to the heat sink now…I recommend. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cDQDCrXtKos.html
Hi mate. I've seen someone on RU-vid mounting the fan's on same fan mount with one fan hanging off the back and I commented that one fan's doing nothing and going to break. His comments were it's cooling everything else hahahahahahaha. Keep it up mate you're doing a great job. I'm a 60 year old retired mechanic full of injuries and like the rest of us don't want to grow up and get old hahahahahahaha. 🤣👍🤙
Just started watching in Jan 2023 - fantastic videos - EXTREMELY well done - thank you - debating on standard Kraton or EXB - likely the EXB USING THESE VIDEOS TO TWEAK
One other thing is that if you have a flat surface on motors or anything else that takes heat sink you can buy (heat sink past) that help distribute the heat to the heat sink and out.
Just a little tech tip if you don’t mind you should’ve just put the heat sink together using two of the screws then zip tie the fan to it then simply use the fan as a guide for your drill bit it comes out perfectly on top of your heat sink every time
@@EastTactics I have to say out of all of the videos I watch I think by far you have such an absolutely awesome amount of information and ideas that work thanks for such an amazing channel
Any idea what happened to NTF? I can't even find Nick personally on FB. I have his dual motor fan and esc setup that I am finally installing and I swear he said I just need a 2s battery but after watching this I am doubting myself.
You want to run those fans on 3s power, to maximize them. NTF is very hard to reach back a year ago when I tried. Now days … who knows. I have vids on my own high power fan outfitting now. Even help in making your connectors or switches. If you need help… happy to assist.
Nice mods like usual from your side :-) I like it finding good solutions to improve mechanical things by using the own brain. Thumbs up and happy bashing from Munich!
It is probably wise to use a fuse instead of hooking it up directly to your battery. Also there is no lvc so always the risk to discharge your battery to much and risking fire when charging it again.
Yes, You do have to be cognizant of its battery level. And make sure it does not discharge below 3.4v per cell. This is why I keep one of these handy at all times. But you are correct. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sxeaAtE3ULo.html
Yes… If you check the description you’ll find a link that I titled “Arma Kraton V4 V5 Parts” It takes you to Amazon where there’s a list of quite a few products. Simply scroll through and you’ll find the Sorbothane. But naturally I’ll hook you up with a quick link right here. amzn.to/3rwnqO8
Your link is for refurbished also. Must be used for something electronic and expensive, replacing fans often and we get the refurbished tested and good to go cheap. Maybe maybe not? Must of been wired to a computer board. That's were the extension comes from!
Lol... I never even realized they were refurbished. Either way... they’re 12v fans. Maximized when ran from a 3s battery. 11.1v If you run’n from your ESC, That will be fine... but your getting 6v or 7.4v out of them.
@@EastTactics 1 fan for testing on 4s! straight off the esc battery leads full 14+volts from lipo. The ebay are new but looks only .24 amps. Must just be generic pic. Says new!!! And ships in usa! 3 wire might be weaker than what we have. Isn't it nice when info like that is bottom of the page!!!🤔 I'm to impatient to read down that far!
Had to drop down to my stock pinion gear... Between the weight I’ve added with all of my upgrades and those tires my vehicle got to 16 pounds. So to avoid cogging I dropped down to the stock 12 tooth pinion. What’s crazy is toss in silicone earplugs in your center differential and even at 12t I’m doing standing backflips. I also run I’m a big rock (Nero) shocks to accommodate for the heavy 16 pound vehicle. 5K differential fluid in all four shocks, as well as M2C shock zero rebound caps Silicone Earplugs - Minimize ballooning! How to eliminate cogging! Arrma RC ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s4-RjtQsMsU.html
No... but I took the spacers out over a year ago because my Cvds pulled out in the first week I owned it with the stock tires 😬. Course my droop wasn’t set properly then too. So make sure your droop is golden. Lastly if your still having issues and your insistent on not removing the spacers. You might consider shimming the cvds before inserting them.
A full Kraton battery run, and some of another. But I generally always change to a new 3S battery after I run out of one Kraton battery so I have three of these little batteries on hand. It also helps that my RC6GS radiolink transmitter has a special connector that transmits the battery level of the 3s battery to the transmitter. And on top of that as a last resort, if by chance I don’t have access to one of my three 3s batteries, I can power both of my fans from the power out on the ESC. It just doesn’t pump quite the power to them as the 3s battery does.
😬 with 4s your throwing 14.8v at a 12v fan. Should be fine... but it could burn out over time. Are you running direct into the balance terminal on the 4s battery?
@@EastTactics right from the esc connector. These fans are rated 7v to 13.5volts. Heared someone doing this for two years with these fans. How true 2 years????
Oh… So you plug in your fans directly into your ESC. If that’s the case then you’re actually running The fan at either 6v (blx-185) or 7.4v (spectrum). The ESC drops the voltage from the battery to those levels by the internal BEC. So if you really want to maximize the blowing power you would want to run directly into a 3s battery balance terminal.
Hey man great info! Look up Alden cost he has a utube channel, he is making the adapter plates now! Get a hold of him on his channel. My fans should be here next week. 90% done with my dyi adapter plate. Coming out nice so far.
So Im new to armmas, just got a Kraton 6s and I recently started searching for a motor fan. Just came across the power hobby heat sink and dual fan for 1/8 motors. Can you explain to me which would is better power hobby or this way?Ill assume the 40mm fan will keep the motor much more cooler since its more powerful. Also I see you have a 40mm fan for the esc is that the same type of fan and are all fans running off the smaller battery? How much did your set up including the esc fan cost? Can you recommend a decent 6s battery that doesnt break the bank? Thanks
In my opinion the set up you see in this video is the best. To me for a basher like the Kraton the heat sink needs to tightly wrap around the motor all the way. And then when it comes to cooling you just can’t beat these 40 mm fans, they are amazing! So I believe a lot of the questions that you might have can be answered in the two videos and I’m going to post here. Keep in mind the description area has all of the juicy details for links to the products. Let me know if you have any other questions after you check both of these videos out. Always happy to help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ppf7kR6Pvs0.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PdQudYXE3Ho.html
@@EastTactics Thank you. Im gonna give this a try. I agree the bigger the fan the more air you'll move to keep it cooll. Thanks for sharing, recommending and gonna try it out.
Thx Bren… just in case you missed it. Since the making of this video, one of my subscribers was inspired to make a custom adapter for this project. Details here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cDQDCrXtKos.html
That’s a really good question, I don’t see why not. But to be honest with you I’m not sure. The way I was taught was to use the balance terminal. I was sort of confused why the balance terminal was the upfront method that I learned. I can’t really say yes or no LOL. But I guess it wouldn’t hurt to just try it if you’ve already got Those connectors on hand. I will definitely be curious when you get your results. Let me know
@@EastTactics well I’ve been using the power lead but it seems like it drains the battery fairly quick wondering if it won’t drain so fast if it’s plugged to the balance port?Must be a reason I’ve kind a looked around I don’t see anybody using the power lead
Yeah you might consider converting it. If you check the description I’ve got a link that will take you to the parts you need to do that. If you haven’t found it yet.
The hobby wing heat sink is annoying because it’s too large. This heat sink fits your classic stock motor that come from arrma. You should be good to go. Also by its design it’s pretty versatile
The secret last touch ingredient is a very large paint brush sprayed with WD-40 and then shellac it all over the place. It both gives it its shine as well as prevents any rusting of both metal components and miscellaneous screws
25:13 Doesn't it work if I use the car's only battery? Is it necessary to add this second? I have a traxxas battery and an adapter that leaves a 4s balancing output free. I would like to confirm that it works, because already your video and another experienced one that also add a second smaller battery. Thank you for your help. I am from Brazil.
3s power is best as it falls just below the full capacity of these fans. @11.2v. If you push a 4s battery at these fans then you”ll be pushing 15v at a 12v rated fan. It’s doable, but could burn out the fan over time.
@@EastTactics You are very nice man. Thanks for reply! Okay, I'm ordering an adapter with an on/off switch, it has a 4s plug but with 3s connection wires. From Game Changer RC. Yeah, I didn't know, I heard today that 3s = 12v = fans voltages. It is really cool to know that !!!! =D Thanks!
I do 850mah for my two. Technically you can go 450mah if you want. If your the type that only ever runs one back through your outings. 450 is fine. However if you typically run through two or more I. A bash session, I would stick with 850mah
I'm sorry east side I did not see you asking for me to make a adapter plate for you! I've had chronic pain for a while now( disk fusion c5,c7,c7 and s1 to L1)! I've got some titanium in me! Did you still need one. Not same quality as Aidan cost! I get stupid and blind at times! I am truly sorry I did not see your request!
Yes I had to definitely subscribe your channel , I just got the Typhon 6s BLX , and I'm just doing afew little small things to it as far as changing the store esc fan because I know those fans don't last much long plus there small rpm fans burn out fas , I got some nice 21000 rpm for the esc , but I also have a few of the server fans also I've had for a few years and was trying to come up with some way to use them and I yes definitely the motor mod is awesome 👌, with the "shock tactic" the Typhon body setup is pushing it because of tight conditions under the body for them size cooling fans . Plus a extra small battery to run power on the fans .
Yeah I put the double 21000RPM on the motor an the 3rd one is just going to replace the stock esc fan that should be more than enough on 6s power . That stock esc fan is like only what 900 or 1200rpm I just know that stock fan definitely has to go lol before I even play with the thing 😂 that stock fan gets wornout fast ... so a 21000rpm 35×35 is going to blow good under there two on the motor an one on the esc . An I'm going to order a extra body just to cut/ carb the a vent like experiment just if I want to use that method your showing up on 👍 . Good information your pushing buddy. I Do rc jets and I'm just tapping in on the rc cars , so with 6s Typhon I already have mu h much much of the 6s batteries of all kinds. 👍
Yeah that’s really weird, I can’t find the comment anymore either. I wonder if RU-vid flagged it for some weird reason. Basically all I was saying was that somebody referred me to your channel (rc junkie) because of my call out for someone who might be making that ALZA basher ESC mounts. The updated version, or something similar/better :-) If you end up looking to make em, and want promotion. I’d be happy to assist.
@@EastTactics yeah it is strange.. it came up in my feed but can only see the first sentence or so...🤔 So yes, i've designed my own, Dave at hardcore talked me into it😂.. will be for standard 30mm to 40mm with the center support.. the cad is done, the cam is in the process.. should have them on eBay soon..👍✌️
@CITYOFSIN RC 702 Massive addition in the cushion department (since there like giant marshmallows...lol) They look bad a$$ is one of my favorite attributes. they'er a bit heavier then stock (naturally) They really have a big impact on centrifical force air stunts. She's quick to flip when you push it in the air. They are a fun tire, for sure. Heard they also have a more expensive belted version too.
Next time I buy tires I’m going to try those. I have a playlist where I completely overhauled my buddies outcast for him. I put those on his... really liked em! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZRECjMyc9wY.html
I’ve always wondered if the heat sink that I have in my video here could work on the larger size motor if you simply just use longer screws to span the gap between the upper and lower piece. But that’s just sort of a thought
I would use the same fans for the 8s too. The only challenge will be to find a heat sink for your motor that could fit this fan. In fact I would probably find a way for the same heat sink to fit any motor
Someone just needs to make basher proof fans with mounts ....way to much to do with all these pieces of sorbothane practically over all the rig Still something worth doing if you have the patience 😅
I did not see the refurbished until 2 weeks after ordering. If the last no big deal. I'll just read the hole page better. If you look close at where the wires come out of the fan you can see old dust and some grime
@@EastTactics I got the link from Hardcore rc, then found 5 fans for $18.60 After a few vids from Hardcore rc I read a comment from you. Liked what I heard ( rc skills) and subscribed!!!
