This early digital era Nikkor lens strikes a great balance between vintage character and modern sharpness

Thanks Marco. I have a few of this vintage of Nikkor lenses, a 28 and 50 hence looking at an 85 to complete the trio. It seems like a good budget choice for around 120eur.

As a photojournalist I shot the 105mm f2.5. Later on I owned this 85mm f1.8 D lens. I adapted to its slightly wider FOV and that extra bit of light was perfect for my low-light, high ISO shooting.

I guess it was also lighter and more nimble than the 105mm?

@@MarcoAries Not necessarily lighter that I recall, anyway...and chunkier...but the focus was very smooth and at 1.8 made for a very bright viewfinder.

Hello! Thank you very much for the review. I want to buy this lense and your video helped me a lot. I have an old Nikon D5000 and because i am on a budget, i am thinking about buying a new lese, better than a new camera, because i just need a camera for documenting my artworks. I also want to start improving my photgraphies time after time, so i want to start investing in lease first. So my problem is that i am quiet confused about the difference between the AF and AF-S lense. They exist both. Is there a huge difference? Because the AF lense is quiet cheaper and i have no idea if it is worth to buy the AF-S lease better... i did not find any information or video on youtube about this. Can someone help?

I believe the difference is in the type of motor used. You can probably find more on the kenrockwell website, it basically a vault of all the information about Nikon

Is it hard to shoot this adapted manually to a Sony A7 series camera? On moving children?

It's easy to adapt it and use it on an a7, but the moving children part depends on how fast you are at focusing manually 😉 I did find it precise and the short focus throw can help. It's mostly a matter a skill, though.
