When I first started playing palworld I had a lot of questions like: what's the best base spot? what level do I need to be to set up my base? Am I doing anything that might be setting me back for end game? And I'm happy to report I found answers for all of those! Let's talk.

Your "honorary mention" base was my first base in the game. I loved it so much (and surrounded the tree with Egg Incubators, which looked AMAZING!). But: The raids from the top of the cliff were annoying, and eventually not worth the interruption for the location. Additional perk in that spot: A camp with a caged pet right over the top of the hill there where I got a Mossanda Lux at level 15.

Alternatively to the mining strat Rushboar mounted charge breaks down rocks, It doesn't do it all in one go like the tortoise, but like 3 charges and the entire node is gone, you can farm a ridiculous amount of palidium early by using this strat in caves with large palidium nodes, works on the other rock nodes aswell

There is a godlike coal spot also... I will have to look up coords, but it is near Duneshelter and you can literally see the spot on the map between Duneshelter and Sand Dune Entrance travel point. There is also a fruit tree, a few chests, and eggs. But beware, Suzaku spawn near/around this spot so it isn't beginner friendly and is very weather-gear dependent. But it has been an excellent mining spot, and it is not able to be raided. Not a single raid has happened to me from that location to date.

You can also reset skill cooldowns outside of a base by dropping the pal from your party and then pick them up.

you can get raided within 5-10 mins after placing your palbox, even if you just got there. Happened to me twice already

PS. It's important to note that when you destroy your base not everything is destroyed, (It's mostly things like incubators, ranches and anything to do with breeding pals) so you can still have a base set up and “Primed” so you could tear it down when you need access to a fast travel point, and then set it back up when your done, this is especially efficient with the first base i showed you here because it's really easy to get back to because it's right next to a fast travel statue, you just teleport to the church and run to the places your pal-Spawner was, places it and spawn your pals and it's like nothing ever happened. My first base is at 106, -330. It is a completly flat area and somehow never gets raided (when raids are turned on). My second base is the one you mentioned as third option. It has both ore and coal and can also not be raided. In my first playthrough I started at the second option you mentioned. However the nodes were in the way and I had problems build stairs from the elevation, so I did not like that much. I am still debating which location is better for the first base, the second option or the base at 106, -330. For a second base the third option is the clear winner for me.

The second base has a cliff that makes it difficult to use. I’ve tried to set up stairs, but I can’t get it to work out.

They already have air raids, but they aren’t triggered until you put walls up. If you build a base on an inaccessible mountain, you will not be raided UNLESS you put protective walls down. Then air raids will begin.

I swear i got a raid with nothing but flying pals not 1 single ground attack and they flew straight to the base. I was shocked to see those bad bois flying right past my gates.

Sadly that second base location at high levels gets attacked by flying Pals that fly right over your walls.

@@myhoodiskc What do you mean what flying Pals? You get attacked by a whole mess of birds. Can't recall which one as it doesn't happen very often and my base defenders wipe them out pretty quick. Think it was a mix of flying Pals both Beakon and Nitewing. Usually that location gets hit by ground invaders which is easy to defend since you can put up walls at the access point but that changes when you hit level 40.

@@myhoodiskc Don't know what to tell you. I have 120 but as I said it is uncommon and I've only had it happen twice but it is definitely in the game. Not saying it happens at all locations. I've only been attacked by birds at location 6, -528 and they come from the NW.

@@myhoodiskc I've been attacked by flyers twice. Strong ones that I have yet to encounter. Some of them looked like red dragons, others were the flying electric and dark boys.

You can just drop the pal instead of the need for a base to reset the ability.

I recall it and then summon it again. It is pretty fast to do that way.

When you show the second base you show the map fotage of the first base, next to the curche and fast travel. I have looked everywhere in the red area and cant find it. "they might add arial raids", my guy, it has alwys been a thing
