I gave my mum a GT 4 Pro a few years ago and she absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, the glass fell off after some time (years) and of course she was less than happy about that. The next day she went to the nearest mobile fone store and bought a 5, and she's all smiles again :-D She's 81 and love gadgets.
Great! I have the Gt2e, already 4y old...Thought to upgrade, but the features are exacty the same in these new watches, so I think there's no point. I like the premium look (that is much better than the plastic look of the competitor). but the NFC doesn't work, vocal assistant doesn't wotk (if you don't have huawei), maps are useless so what's the point. If I do a training with the new gt5 I get exactly the same data of the old one (I tried) so... 500 bucks for the same functions of the older models? 🤔
I'm actually looking for a watch that's specifically not WearOS. As far as I can tell, anything running WearOS seems to have very weak battery life. Unless something's changed
@@robwhitmore3040 I aggree the batterylife is terrible on wear os but in my opinion there is no reason to buy a premium 500€ smartwatch that you can't dowload apps, use nfc, have smart assistant or controll your smarthome.
Bought this watch on day one, absolutely love it. Does everything I need and works beautifully with my Pixel 9pro Xl ... Still have my original GT which I got with my Huawei Mate 20 pro... Still going strong too👍🏻
Got my GT 5 last Monday and i must say it is amazing. And battery life is solid. Easily can lasts more than 10 days. UI is nice. Health and fitness tracking is solid.
From the comments I read, what I understand is the guy who did this video is only not satisfied with this smartwatch but the people who have commented are very happy and even have memories with the old versions. A simple question to the guys who have used it: is it worth it? Is it true that it is difficult to reply from the watch? Please someone reply . Honest answer please
Have you used it in the mountains...how's it work for this? Does it give topographic maps/contour mapping. Does it support snorkelling/free diving pls can't tell if I can get away with a GT3 or 4 pro or if I need the 5pro
@@gorillacyclist I haven't been to the mountains yet, but I have used it for free diving few weeks ago. In my group, the coaches had GT3 Pro or GT4 Pro and I've seen it measure diving depth.
I've been wanting to get myself a smartwatch, i got a S23 Ultra, so i figured go for the Sammy Watch, but Huawei had to go and release such an elegant and attractive watch, Huawei is always ahead in design, now i don't know if i should go for the Sammy Watch! ):
Go for the GT 5. I'm using S24 ultra, and it syncs very nice with it. Battery life is amazing. After 5 days, I still have 70% battery life. Samsung watch battery is horrible, need to charge every day.
Huawei watch for battery life, Samsung watch for apps, I have a Samsung S24 Ultra the Samsung watch 6 classic and the GT5 pro, I don't really use apps on a watch but the only functionality I have lost by using the Huawei watch is I sometimes like to leave my phone at home and listen to music through my ear buds, I can't do that on the Huawei but I can on my Samsung watch, however I don't miss having to charge my watch every two or three days
Ultimate version is for golfer or who addicted to golf 🏌️⛳. If you buy those but didn't play golf then it's literally useless and better buy the watch gt 5 or 5 pro only.
huawei products are soooo good, people should have fought to have another top top company on market and dont let the big guys ban them. I had phones and watches from them they delivered always. especially their battery life is just crazy.
I switched from the huawei gt3 pro to a ticwatch pro 5 just to get a better hang of notifications and responses. And it's got a 4 day battery life. I'm not regretting the switch.
I would like to see, if you will still take this statement about ticwatch 5 pro after year. For me, the worst is the update October 2023. So no I do no recommend them for long term.
Purchased the Black titanium model. Only gripes are that its heavy for a titanium watch and the strap should really be a 22mm band. If anyone knows whrre to get one please comment
Can you sideload apps or add more "usable" ones? And more importantly, does it have anything like Do Not Disturb sync or something of sorts? Cheers mate
Been using the GT-4 since last year. Looks great..fantastic battery life and accurate metrics. But absolutely no provision to sideload apps. There is a way to transfer custom watch faces though.....
I have the GT4 and DND sync works great with my phone based on the way I have the phone set up (scheduled quiet time, or whatever it is called on One Plus). i.e. If the phone doesn't buzz then nothing comes through on the watch.
Hi all, what are the notifications like for the Ring app? The notifications being a bit basic is the only real turn off for me but if the Ring notifications bring up still pictures of cameras when you get notifications I'd be very happy
WOW. Design-wise its what i want. A smartwatch that looks like a watch! Does it play nice with US phones? (Edit: watched the video, thats a resounding "no")
@@bradye21playsIndieHorrorwell it’s not a smartwatch with no third party apps, more of just a fancy notification device. I agree, just get a normal watch.
Got one of these two weeks ago, yes you lose a bit of funcionality due to the lack of google apps, but my eyesight being as shit as it is i dont really use most of the apps you can get on a smart watch, i still have a Samsung watch 6 classic wich is good but the Huawei battery life blows it out of the water, i have been wearing the Huawei for two weeks and is just about due for its first charge as the battery is at 29%, i got the black version, it looks smart, it tells the time, it shows all my health data (including ECG) and the battery obviously lasts for ages, whats not to like?
Huawei are putting the rest of the smart watch world to shame. It’s clear that this watch has awesome hardware, battery life etc it’s just hobbled by sanctions essentially. It’s a bit like electric cars, US and Euro manufacturers cannot compete so tariffs are used to make the Chinese models uncompetitive. For me I’d love one, but the fact I can’t use Spotify or Apple Music and have to go through a load of hassle to download media is a deal breaker. It’s a shame because on any sort of performance/value basis this destroys the 18 hour battery life, overpriced Apple Watches.
@@superiortoall22 disagree. You can do everything with this that you can with an Apple/Samsung watch, it’s just a pain in the a&& to do it. Battery comparisons are generally run on a like for like basis using the most battery draining features, such as gps and HR and even running the most intense stuff, these still blow Apple out of the water. I say this as an Apple Watch user btw, but one that is pi$$ed off with the pathetic battery life. As an iPhone user however, it has the best integration with the phone. I’m under no illusions though that it’s a complete ripoff price wise.
@@korporalkarrot no you can’t, there’s no way to side load apps onto the watch, the chipset is far too “dumb” to run anything. As a runner I can leave my phone at home and use my Apple Watch for nearly everything, from streaming music, starting/unlocking my car, unlocking/unarming my house, making phone calls, sending texts, paying, etc. I can even use it on my flights with my ForeFlight app. And that’s not how battery life is compared, it’s based off of chipset; since the Apple Watch is more complex it’ll drain more. That’s like comparing today’s smart phone with a “dumb” phone of 2006, the older cellphone is going to last much longer because it can do less tasks, the processing power is far less than todays smartphones, similar to Apple Watch versus these non smartwatches. And I say this as a dual OS user with multiple smartwatches, that in terms of capabilities no smartwatch even comes close. This Huawei Watch is a hybrid watch not a smartwatch, if you want less capabilities with more battery (which it sounds like you want, can’t tell if you actually own an Apple Watch or just don’t know how to use it besides notifications) this is the watch for you. If you want an actual smartwatch that’ll have less battery since it does more, then the Apple Watch is for you.
Can someone say how the contour mapping actually works pls i want to use it for mountains in uk. What map system does it use? I have downloaded petal maps but this seems like google maps. How do o get the watch to navigate me when cycling? Walking Can the gt3 or 4 pro have the same contour mapping options. Can the gt3 or pro do snorkelling same as the gt5 pro? Thanks in advance
Was excited about this one as it seems to have a classic design I fancy. But nah, useless. I am not paying that much if I can't see gmails and voice control this thing without a Huawei phone to pair it with.
Hey Uncle sput, could you please review the Amazfit T-Rex 3. It's turning heads in the running watch space as it competes directly with the Garmin Fenix 8 at a quarter the price. Greetings from Uganda :)
Not being able to use it as tap to pay is actually a feature. Imagine what would happen when you are in the pub and pints are just a wrist twist away. Twist it outwards and a pint is coming. Twist it inwards - it’s going.
Have the same one for 1 week now, the best I ever had and have them a few , just one think does not make me happy, I do not have possibility use the ECG , apparently because some idiotic regulations from Australia government, who must always do what White house tell them what to do or not !? So if anybody know how to go around this, please let me know, thanx. Battery life is fantastic and compare to Apple watch battery life around 18 hours is a great joke :)
