Julie I have both systems but the cans don’t have to be half used I purchased a little valve and I can transfer fuel from one can to another, so I don’t waste fuel. The speed of the burner is amazing although I only make porridge or coffee. The only trouble with cans is they don’t last much more than a few days and with fuel burners I would assume you get any old fuel but also never sure how long the small bottle will last. Sounds like a lab experiment needed😂

Must admit I didn't know about the valve. Thanks . Someone else has mentioned it too

Nice one Julie. I have a jetboil and yes it's quick to brew up. However, I like to cook and will be getting a similar thing to yours so I can take my time and enjoy the cooking.

Great little post, as usual Julie! At first when I saw the gas stove on the bench, I thought you'd pulled a fast one..haha🤣 I bought an alcohol stove from Des Catty to use, but haven't used it in "battle" yet, but can't wait to try it out, in the feild. I use bio-fuel too. Was told that if you use meths, you should add 10% water to help stop your pots from sooting up (which tends to happen with meths). But DONT add water to bio fuel! I like your silicone finger "thingy" but I'll stick to using a spare sock..haha😂. Did you know that you can buy a gas canister adapter for about £9 so that you can fill smaller canisters from larger ones(which are much cheaper), or partially filled ones. You know how much is in, or if it's full by the weight (specific to each sized container). Excellent post, prompting me, and others to dream about the coming of spring, and getting out and about, and of course doing a bit of bikepacking! Perhaps a nice little post about a pre-spring bike check or a home service before riding/bikepacking would be welcome!? Also, what about another follow up on the "Sonder Camino ti" (don't forget to put the name in the title)? How it's going, would you still recommend it "xxx" miles later? Any customisations/adaptations/replacement parts. Tyre recommendations (coz we all know that you know what you'retalking about)?👍 Good luck with your subscribers, fingers crossed🤞 Take care Julie. 😊

Thanks for adding to this subject. Actually I never use meths . You’re right it does make a mess. I think I mentioned tyres in my ‘6 months on’ video. I need to check it. Cheers . Thanks so much as always, for you continued support and ideas.

We used the old Trangia for years. This is a great lightweight option. Very eco-friendly and cheap.

Great video 😊 I was also going to mention about refilling the gas canisters although it has potential to be dangerous i guess 😁 You can get meths from Toolstation etc so never too far from fuel. Its possible to make a burner from a coke can or you can buy puk stoves which is a similar thing about a 5er. Alpkit do a stick stove if you like smokey tea 😎 Will have to get some of those silicone thingys. 🏕️ Mark 👍🏼
