Seattle - the city that has an abundance of white collard workers and spoiled college brats, along with an abundance of homeless people. The amount of wealth this city has, with the amount of homelessness, is not okay.
If you actually study the history of Seattle, the homeless issue dates back to the mid 1800's. Murray Morgan wrote a book named "Skid Road" about the history of Seattle. I grew up as a 3rd generation Seattle native and raised a 4th there. The homeless situation is far worse now than it was. The drug component has contributed significantly to it. I no longer live in Seattle, but I visit occasionally. Part of the attraction of Seattle also contributes to the homeless population. Mild weather certainly is a factor, so too are the political policies. But condemning all of Seattle is way too simplistic. There is still plenty to love about my hometown. The example is this young woman who is a shining example of a woman of color who has earned the oppotunity of a lifetime. Good for her. I would much rather celebrate her success than dwell on the negative.
And if you look at Seattle currently, if you actually have to work in the real world, you will see that Seattle has not improved at all, as far as homelessness. It is filled with oblivious, careless and over privileged yuppies, like you, who tokenize those who struggle so that you can pretend that you are good people. Love, live and laugh are words that only apply to those who can afford to. That lady is someone that the city allows to behave the way she does. People like you are to caught up in their over privileged lives to care. So spare me your meaningless and irrelevant words.
If you actually had to struggle in the real and current world, you would understand that history has repeated, while you pretend that things are just fine. It is easy to see the positives when you are over privileged and on the winning side. If you look at Seattle currently, it is obvious that the privileged are doing nothing to help with the situation. People like you live your oblivious lives, while tokenizing the underprivileged. Live, love and laugh is a quote by those who can afford it. So spare your empty, careless and oblivious words. Your intention is to sound smart and patronize. The intention should be to solve problems for the benefit of everyone, but Seattle has shown that the privilege come first and people, like you, choose to ignore reality so that you can live, love and laugh.
