Been needing to see a video like this. Was tired of using "trim restoring" products only to be annoyed by how long it doesn't last, and whenever it rained the product would smear and leave an ugly oil trail. Thank you sir as a fellow Tennessean.

So far that’s the best results on trim restore I’ve seen. Most products make the plastic shinny but the fade it still there. The back to black products continue to bleed into the paint near by when doing polishing on white paints is annoying. I’m gonna try this product for sure.

I've already known about this product, but haven't used it yet. You are the first I've seen not tape around all. And the first to wipe immediately, with no wait. I hope anyone who watches this understands......... finding that out made this video so amazing! Even if you already are aware, but about to try the product. Thanks man.
@willsrestorations

Yes well the guy in the video did it wrong you should wait at least 2 minutes before wiping it because you need to give it time to impregnate itself into the plastic pores. I know you can't spray alcohol over it afterwards notice how we didn't show you the rag after he was done wiping it with alcohol after you applied the product. It's like the blind leading the blind when I see videos like this

I bought the big bottle of Solution Finish Black Trim Restorer for about $50 or so. You really need very little so I still have lots, it will last me 20 years for sure. I'll do it twice a year. I cleaned the rubber, not nearly as well as in the video, but still pretty good. Dabbed a bit of it onto a terri-cotton cloth in it, and rubbed it along the rubber once. It works pretty much instantly and then buffed it off with a dry cloth. It looks fabulous. You can do a whole car with about five dabs. Its super easy to apply and to clean up. It wipes off metal with no problems. I didn't really need to do it again but I did anyway because I have so much of it. I store the car during the winter so I don't know how it would handle a Toronto winter. It's worth it if your car is.

I do agree. Best restorer out there. A true restorer. My wifes cousins xterra trim was severely aged (it was a light gray in color) and her husband struggled with a restorer. I applied SF on the trim and she was amazed on the contrasting results but she was even more amazed on the ease of application and how “clean” the end result ended. I was even blown away as the trim was the worst trim I have ever applied SF to. 👍🏻

Too funny i too watched many videos on this topic... I found 5 years ago that using natural peanut butter oil from the top of the jar ...which you can purchase pretty much at any dollar store ... cheap small jar for a buck or 2 ...do not stir the peanut butter...use the oil from the top of the jar...just a little dab works great ...might have to redo it once or twice a year... a little dab goes far... save your bucks... the rest of this crap is exactly that crap... when you're done with the oil on top of the jar you can always eat the rest of you choose!!!
@brx3649
@brx3649 2 года назад
@@sasksunseekers5699 I actually bought some and it has held up pretty damn good! Better than any other commercial product that I've tried. Applied on May 6th. So just over 3 months and it is at about 60% of the original luster. What I didn't like was the mess. My favorite thing is that after it's applied it looks more natural and doesn't have that artificial "shiny" effect. I'm curious about the peanut oil though. What's different with your method and just using peanut oil out of a bottle? I've had limited success with linseed oil too.

Love your videos, hope you’ll look at Rustoleum wipe new as well. I started using and still use solution finish on occasion from Luke’s video on it in the past. What I found , it fails over a relatively short period reverting to the original full oxide finish hence I had to continue to use. ( Admittedly that might be because I had to wash or rinse my car off daily as I drive it professionally) Rustolrum wipe new actually dissolves the oxide surface and restores it. On my BMW X3 I used it once and never again! I sold it about year later and never touched it besides washes.

Question I need to ask...How long does it last? All finishes make black trim look better-great at first application but how is it long term? Weeks/ Months? or longer? Also living in a hot dry climate how does it stand up to rain, snow & such? I like dyes much better than dressings, one coating I don't like which a lot of people do like is CeraKote but it leaves a gloss finish like the trim has been painted gloss black. I use Forever Black (it's a dye too) but there's one drawback which is it sticks to whatever it touches (don't get it on your paint!) but it lasts for me a year +.

Hello, this is the 2nd time watching this video. I have a question on rock chips on black mouldings which after a while the area appears almost grey. I am on my 7th Jeep products since 2014, the mouldings behind the rear passenger doors receive the most abrasions along with a rough feel to the fingers. I use CG VPR ( as per your video on VPR) on the trim on my wife' Jeep Cherokee Elite since she's always busy. On my Jeep Cherokee Elite I use Griot's Black Shine since I can allow 24-48 hr's for cure time. Short of bringing my wifes car to a Collision Shop to buff out, what would be your suggestion to restore and advoid additional abrasions to this area on the car. Thank you.

This is all fun and great but the best plastic restorer I ever used was a heat gun. Harbor fright special of $9.99, set it on low and slowly move around the plastic it does take some time but it is restored forever, of course i do follow up with chemical guys VRP and it looks amazing, you could use the restoration product since the pores are open on the plastic from the heat and then once it cools the product seeps deep into the plastic
